Not even OB can mess this up.

I think you set O'brien up, LOL.OK , so I was wrong. OB did mess this up …. defense saved the day.
It is not a matter of settling with OB but a matter of seeing the forest through the trees. OB somehow wins more than he loses and while it is not flashy or fun to watch, as our teams head coach he has for the most part owned our division. I do not like that he also acts as our teams GM. I am no fan of BO but I am not going to get too upset over a 1 point win. The win was not flashy but it was a win. It is not like this game saw us get out coached in a big way or over matched just the same. I have decided to go with the flow and enjoy the wins we get no matter how they come about. It is fine to judge the coaches at any time if that is your thing. I am more likely to weigh in for the bad when we get thoroughly out coached and out played as opposed to games where the effort was there and there was no egregious coaching errors that swung the game to our competitors favor. RC seems to have lost something as well but I am glad we won a defensive battle to victory today. I do not find that BO did a terrible job coaching today but there for sure were some things he could have done better. At least Marrone did not ride the Jags late momentum to victory as he should have done. Had we lost this game I imagine I would be with the lot of you complaining. However we won and it is something we have done more of than lose since BO took over whether we like it or not. They haven’t yet so why would that change going forward? Would you be ok if Marrone was our coach? You just compared them. So would you take marrone as your HC and GM? If not then why would you settle with OB?
I don’t get it. Is that some kind of LGBT reference? I’m not as familiar with their lingo as you I guess.mister over sensitive? You said j/k. So was I..it was about half an inch, Lol.
I think he's saying you have a micropenis.I don’t get it. Is that some kind of LGBT reference? I’m not as familiar with their lingo as you I guess.
Yeah. Wanted to see you dance. Looks like you came about one inch from being a woman.
Well, In my opinion, the Texans were good against the run on defense and ran the ball well on offense. Fournette was jammed up at the line most of the game. He could not find a crease to hit. He did have a couple of decent runs, but never broke a big one. It culminated in the extra point attempt at the end of the game when Justin Reid stopped Fournette from getting into the endzone on the 2 point attempt. The Texans D answered the question of how they would hold up against a premier running back without Clowney there to set the edge. Mercilus did a great job.Jam, could you give us ‘out of area’ fans a breakdown of the game and your insights you can give from it? I trust your eye for the game.
Watson could help by knowing not to let 20 seconds run off the clock after a pass play deep down the middle of the field and to jump up and call that time out. He doesn't need Bill's permission to do that. So it's both of them. Bill doesn't know how, so he teaches Watson bad habits. Smith, being the quarterback coach, needs to get involved and teach Watson how to manage the clock and when to call those time outs. Bill should be taken out of the loop completely.
We all know that. That's why Smith needs to work with Watson on those things and take that responsibility out of Bob's hands. My guess is BOB doesn't give Watson the authority to call timeouts in that instance. You can tell when he scrambled at 15 secs. He instantly popped up and pointed at the sideline. He didn't call timeout himself.

Then Bob needs to lean on Smith's experience and hand that responsibility to him so he can properly teach Watson how to use the clock and time outs. Any way, Billy O doesn't need to have that responsibility if he can't handle it.Easy to say but put yourself in Watson's shoes, you're a rookie QB that is still trying to get your feet under you and for 3 seasons now you've been told that things like that are in the hands of the HC. Now you expect a first season QB coach that moved here mostly to be closer to his son to go against that and coach the QB to call things on his own? He'd be gone inside a week. People talk about Brady vs BoB and how Brady won that fight but they forget that A: Its Tom Brady and B: BoB was just the OC while Brady knew he had the backing of the HC. If I was Watson and you told me to do that I'd laugh in your face.

On offense, the 2 backs, Duke Johnson and Carlos Hyde, have been a real refreshing upgrade over Miller and Blue. They have been running the ball decisively and with authority. Duke can also catch out of the back field. A very nice combination. They have really improved the Texans running game. It's to the point that it could really be used effectively to draw the defense closer to the line and help open up the passing game.
The offensive line was better this week at both run blocking and pass blocking but still made some costly mistakes that got Watson hit hard several times. They need to work together some more to get things together and get on the same page.
Watson needs to get the rust off. He missed way to many passes. He was over throwing or under throwing quite a bit and just missing his receivers. He was also concentrating too much on the big pass play and missed several opportunities to hit a check-down underneath to just get yards and keep the ball moving. He really needs to learn to look for his check-downs. He also needs to get on the same page as his receivers.
Bill O'Brien. Where do we start. Horrible time management and not knowing how or when to call time outs. He almost cost the Texans this game because of that. Watson could help by knowing not to let 20 seconds run off the clock after a pass play deep down the middle of the field and to jump up and call that time out. There ya go. My take on the game. Hope it helps.

I think we all agree on this. Problem is, BOB is not a fan of delegating responsibility.
I'm not a BOB hater, but this is my biggest problem with him. He keeps taking responsibilities of others and puts it on himself, while he already struggled at doing his original responsibilities well.

Lol, ok. I get it now. You are young and still in college. Unfortunately for you, you are in this age of PC, lack of consideration, everybody gets a prize etc. In my days my buds and I busted each other’s balls constantly. I do that here and it’s misinterpreted. I truly was messing with you as I do others. Gotta watch that now but it’s a lot more fun when people fire back. Words don’t show facial expressions.Ok now I get it. Had to have someone explain it to me lol. What can I say just doing it part time until I get through college.
If you've been playing/coaching football your whole life, these are things you shouldn't even have to think about.
You don't run a 2 minute drill with 3 timeouts, have gaps between plays of 34 seconds, 35 seconds, and 24 seconds, all inside of 2:00, and go to the locker room with 2 timeouts in your pocket. That's 93 seconds of 120 that just ticked away. There is absolutely zero excuse for that.
I was wondering why Watson wasn't calling the TO, and if that's a direct order from OB, then one more reason OB is a f'ing idiot when it comes to some of this stuff.
Go ahead bust my balls, I can take it, but I’m warning you I when I fire back be prepared, I don’t want things to get messy.Lol, ok. I get it now. You are young and still in college. It’s CongressThis is true
I'm willing to wait 4 more weeks to see if the offense can get things together before I start criticizing them. There are alot of new guys on the offense.
The TO/Game mgmt have been longstanding issues for BOB. You would think an Ivy League educated HC would understand basic clock mgmt. I guess I overrate the intelligence of Ivy League graduates.
Look at the past Ivy League POTUS on both sides of the isle as an example of why this country is where it is today. Real geniuses.
What ticks me off even more is how he acts when the media asks him about this. He doesn't answer the question and claims we don't understand game management.
He should have done one of two things:
1. Explained why he did that. Try to teach us something about game management, instead of claiming we are ignorant to it.
2. Fess up and say you screwed up. I have a lot of respect for people that are willing to admit when they screw up.

I listened to 3 different times O'Brian addressed the timeout situation. He sounded really flustered with Brian T Smith in the postgame interview and didn't really know what to say.
The other 2 he had time to get his answers straight before the interview. I got the feeling he blames Watson for moving to slow but doesn't want to come right out and say it.
He mentioned "sense of urgency" several times in both subsequent interviews.
My problem is even if he had a plan for Watson to hurry up & go down the field he should have stepped in when he saw it wasn't working.
This to me is his one of his main faults. He seems unable or unwilling to change his plans to fit the situation.
