Game 1...And It Starts...Jacksonville Jaguars!

I would like to see Quessenberry as an honorary captain if allowed for PS player. Also each home game perhaps honorary team captain for someone in community like a volunteer during Harvey. I think up to say 10 PD/fire department personnel per game could be brought on field pregame and another group at halftime for recognition for our eight home games. What is happening during this Harvey mess is good for our country and for the world in my opinion.

Yes, it's hard to have a good offense, but not impossible to have a successful team.

The Broncos was able to win a SB just a couple of years ago with a horrendous OL. Seahawks had a bad OL when they made it to the SB against the Pats.

Throw in Greenbay as well.

Sunday is going to be NUTS in Houston opening day. Crowd is going to go ballistic from kickoff to the end. And if JJ gets going early then it'll be even more crazy. With that Jags Oline it wont be long for the Texans D to have success. But JJ in particular will get the crowd rockin given his return from injury and charitable work with Hurricane Harvey!

Do the Jaguars have anyone the quality of Hopkins? Ellington has proven to be very solid. Fido is better then any of their tight ends and Miller or even Foreman can catch out of the back field. Seems to me, the Texans receiver corps is petty solid. I'd even say better then the Jags. I'll admit, their running backs are better then the Texans, but consider. The Texans have the better QB position, the better o-line, the better wide receivers and by far, the better defense in every since. The Jags have better corners but other then that, nothing. The Texans should win this game.

Saying that Fido is better than Mercedes Lewis is just plain Ridiculous.

Lets just see who has a better game on Sunday.

OK. The 33-year old TE who hasn't had a productive year yet with Bortles, or the 4th year TE coming off a breakout year.

Not that they play against each other on the field or have any impact on how the other one performs. But I'll take my chances with CJ.

So are you routing for Lewis or Fido to have a better game Sunday? No argument can be made that Mercedes Lewis is likely to be a better TE in 2017 than CJ. Lewis has been irrelevant the last 3 seasons. Anything could happen, but common, why so much hating on Fido, he had a productive season last year.

I'm waiting for the "Fido has only done it for one season" angle. Because Fido's stats last year were better than all but one season in Lewis' 11-year career. And that one season was a long time ago.

Ok. On a lighter note and proceeding with this thread, predictions....

1) Houston will win 35-10
2) Savage will throw 2 touchdowns. 1 to Hop on a fade rout in the corner of the endzone and 1 to a tight end, either Fido or Griffin in the middle of the endzone.
3) 2 touchdowns will be run in. 1 by Miller and the other by Foreman.
4) The defense will score a touchdown. Either a pick six by a corner or a strip sack picked up by Watt and rumbled into the endzone.
5) The defense will force at least 3 turnovers by Bortles. 1 for a score. The others leading to Texans scores.
6) The Jaguars will score their 10 points in garbage time late in the 4th quarter.
7) Last but not least, NRG will be louder then it has ever been before. Especially when JJ is introduced before the game. The noise will produce tremors measurable on the Richter scale. You will need hearing protection if you go to the game.

That's mine. Have fun and.....
ROCK AND ROLL TEXANS!!!

Hard to know what to expect with all the re-plug and play due to injury. I am hoping for a blow-out and an offense that is finally not offensive.

And now for something completely different (key the naked piano player out in an English field); Texans win 32-7....6 FG's of 40+ yards, ST's blocked punt returned for a TD and a KO return for a TD.

I wouldn't say that anything to do with Harvey is good. I know too many people that lost everything. I do agree about the 1st responders as honorary captains.

Chron is reporting that Blue will not play. Foreman is no longer on the injury report. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of the Blue era. I will concede that he looked WAY better this preseason but he doesn't have Foreman's talent. Foreman will be the starter by next season.

If you don't think volunteers coming from as far away as Sacramento, Cali; the Cajun Navy, folks of all colors and religious denominations working together, clothing donations being turned away at food pantry I volunteer at due to no room left; and countless other efforts are good that come from the devastation of a hurricane; I don't know what to say.

BB, I started to like the first post (#2745760), but that last line with the "good for our country" and "Harvey mess" in the same sentence, I just couldn't click the "Like". I understand what you are saying and agree, but the wording kind of overshadows from your point. A better choice of words might have been, "the Harvey mess wasn't good, but the way so many have responded, from both within and outside the area, has been good for our community and our country."

thanks for explaining but I thought way it was worded had the meaning you said you understand. What was the possible meaning that overshadowed? I do see that your words in quote would have been better & I should have thought that.

"What is happening during this Harvey mess is good" is a little too ambiguous and broad a statement. Nothing wrong with what you said, its just that for those in the midst of the disaster it is a very emotional issue and when they read "Harvey mess is good" they may focus on that part of your statement and miss the point your making.

2. Is the Tom Savage–Blake Bortles matchup as bad as Scott Tolzien–Jared Goff?

Nothing underscores the league’s quarterback shortage quite like Tolzien-Goff, but don’t sleep on Savage-Bortles. They’re two quarterbacks who need to be benched as soon as possible in order for their teams to compete. You might be expecting a bunch of interceptions, but I wouldn’t even go that far. I don’t anticipate many successfully thrown passes.

The Ringer doesn't like the QB match up it seems.

I expect some interceptions from Brotles but not Savage.

I imagine Jag fans are just as excited to face Savage as I am about facing Bortles....

So yeah....

You mean this respected Rodger Sherman?

OK, time for a bold prediction. Texans 38 Jags 17
Savage throws three TD passes, we run for one, the D scores one, kicker misses a 38 yard FG and makes a 52 yard FG.

Might as well dream big.

You're flying awfully close to the sun my dude, but I like it!

I think the Texans lose this one.

Their saving grace might be bortles though. I think if he's average or not the suck the jags have a good chance.

I just don't trust the Oline and I don't think Savage has the skill set to overcome bad Oline play.

I'm also not convinced OB will use his running backs in the most optimal way.

24-17 Kitties.

I was close. Overestimated the Texans a bit though.
