Forgotten Texans of Yesteryear

BattleRedBlud

Blue Steel Pose. No Excuses!
I spent the evening looking up ex Texans who never became household names and was surprised by what I found. Why do I not remember little Trindon Holliday being such an explosive weapon? Outstanding returns from this one.

Who are other little known and forgotten Texans who are overlooked due to the teams lack of success over the years?

Chris Taylor RB #27 (2006-2008)

Taylor was the original British Brooks, an UDFA the fans fell in love with in the preseason. Taylor took reps in practice at FB attempting make the team (he didn't but would sign late in the year). Injuries led the Texans to give up on Taylor, but not before he had 99 yards rushing in a regular season game.

2011 was a big year for the Texans and was highlighted by a first playoff birth while bringing in JJ Watt through the draft and in my opinion the most underrated Texans legend Johnathan Joseph through free agency.

That said along with JJo came Danieal Manning who was quietly an excellent safety for us. Even if only for a short time. I'd take a Danieal Manning on the team right now.

I remember that time well. I was so angry that when the news dropped that we didnt get Nnamdi Asomugha. Later when I found out we got both Johnathan Joeseph and Daniel Manning for what Asomugha would have cost us, I was elated.

And Nnamdi ended up being a bust in Philly while Jjo was a top shutdown corner for us for ages.

Funny how things can play out.

I loved me some Trindon Holliday, that guy had an extra gear that noone else in a league had as a returner. Unfortunately he never put it to use as a WR, I think he had one bomb touchdown in his career.

I'll go with RG Mike Brisiel, he was a no-name guy, who became part of the best offensive line the Texans have ever put on the field.

Here's a link for anybody looking for a player: Texans rosters

Rosencopter!
I laugh about it now.

But this is what I looked like sitting in the stands.

Yeah… I was a Scahib fan. Just a very very likable guy to me. I think we could have had a decent conversation once or twice.
I appreciated Schaub, cause he was able to perform with fairly limited talent. Decent but not great arm, not mobile, but he was able to perform in the scheme...til he busted his ankle. The string of pick-6s in his last season was painful.

Did he break his ankle too?

C.C. Brown...

Came in as a 6th round pick and as a rookie started 13 out of 16 games. Didn't relinquish the starting spot until he fractured his forearm 3 games into his fourth season. He ended up bouncing around the league for 3 more years after that. He wasn't spectacular, but was a solid player. Especially for a 6th rd. pick.

There was a sandwich shop in Houston offering a Schaub Sub - you could "pick 6" any toppings for your sandwich. 😁

He’s still one of my favorite pictures of the Texans. He was wearing battle red standing by the crowd while they cheered. It was a cool photo.
That was Demarcus Faggins who is worthy of this thread if only for that moment, that pic is still my desktop background on my laptop, one of my favorite moments, a pick six that beat the Jags in October 2004

What up with D-Rob these days ?
One of my very favs: pound for pound one of the hardest hitters ever !

Marcus Coleman is one guy that doesn't get mentioned enough from the early days, we got him in the expansion draft from the Jets along with Aaron Glenn, he had 7 interceptions in 2003 and 22 passes defended, excellent season on a bad team but he was a factor in that team playing really well against some great teams, 2 games each against co-MVP's Manning and Mcnair and we came close to beating both teams at the end of the season, also took New England to 14+ minutes of overtime and almost beat them, team had heart being only 2 years old and leading the NFL with 19 players on IR that year. Coleman was a big reason why. He had a 102 yard pick six in 2004 but he kind of fell off after that 2003 season.
