This is due to the Texans having preached that DC fall forward when he sacks himself rather than going fetal.

Does anyone have a bio or player analysis on Mr. Flanagan?

ESPN has him rated as the 7th best center in the NFL.
1 Olin Kreutz 86
2 Matt Birk 82
3 Jeff Saturday 79
4 Jeremy Newberry 78
5 Kevin Mawae 76
6 Dominic Raiola 75
7 Mike Flanagan 75

Comment:
He shows that he has the foot quickness to get up to the second level not only block linebackers but sustain his blocks. He has good use of his hands and excels in situations where he can block back and take advantage of blocking angles. He plays a very intelligent game in the middle and he makes all of the pre-snap calls and adjustment and he rarely makes a mistake. He has good strength in his hands and locks on very well. He is very consistent with his snap in the shotgun formation and he shows great ability to pass off and pick up with his guards to handle line stunts and blitzes. The most outstanding part of his game is his footwork and his movement. He lacks ideal strength and he will have difficulty with a big defender in the gap or on his nose that has good bulk and explosive charge. He seldom gets beat badly however he does not get a lot of movement in that situation.

 only Texan fans can get this excited about signing a Offensive Lineman
Weve been asking for lineman since the Tony project. After all the promise that came with him and failure that followed. This could be the biggest FA signing in the Texans short history.

Thank you god. I had no idea we were even that in depth talking with a free agent OL. This is great news. Now we have a center who can really hold up. One more OL man and I will feel our Line has been greatly improved!

Yeah, we can't forget that Tom Ashworth is schedule to visit as well. We ink him to shore up that right side, then we have address a majoirty of our major needs besides MLB which Polk or Orr can play and we can draft a descent receiver, corner, safety, etc, Outstanding pickup!

I honestly didn't think they would get this guy, I'm impressed :thumbup
I hope the "coach/player connection" that seems to be helping us keeps working in our favor.

here is a link to his complete bio...

Being a Bear fan for many years, I have witnessed his play first hand. He reminds me of our general in Olin. Man he can command. Don't forget, he led the line that protected Favre for so many years. He knows how to gel a line to be one body. David Carr is going to be best friends with Flanigan!!!

I made a comment earlier that I heard Favre was staying this year to play, but that was before he lost Flanny to the Texans...

I predict Favre will not return now. The front office is demolishing his line. He lost two last year and not the center. no way jose!!!

I think thats because they don't want him back, they just can't tell him that, He's a god in that town.

Actions speak louder then words.

New coach

not active in FA

they are ready to move on with Rodgers

Meanwhile, former Green Bay Packer center Mike Flanagan has agreed to a three-year contract with the Texans valued at $9 million, his agent told Houston television station KRIV Thursday night.

"You have to attribute Mike Sherman's relationship with Mike Flanagan as having significant impact," agent Jim Steiner told the station. Sherman, a Texan assistant coach, formerly coached at Green Bay.

Tony Wyllie, spokesman for the Texans, did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press Thursday night.

Add to the fact that Duke is out and so is Gonzaga

Kenton Paulino made the game winning 3 for Texas.

BTW, Morrison is just bawling right now. his tears are ruining his trademark weak mustache.

I was GLAD we GOT PUTZ!!! but I am really Glad we have a REAL CENTER!!!!! That is the best news I have Heard in Free Agency so far. If we could get one more Offensive Tackle or Gaurd in FA I would be one Happy Camper!! The NY Jets now have 2 First Round Picks. They need a RB as C. Martin is getting long in the Tooth. I see us Trading Down to #4 Taking VY and getting the Jets # 29 Pick in the first Round Taking (OT Eric Winston) and RB Joseph ADAI with pick # 33 or Gaurd Max Jean Gillis.

I don't see the Jets doing that, but if they did, for argument's sake, then put the #29 and #33 together and try to move up high enough to take LenDale White.

Anyways, at this point it looks like it's Bush at #1. Fine by me.

I could see that, but why draft a running back in the second when we still have Morency? If that scenario were to happen, I would like to see them pick up a good corner with that pick of DE like Daryl Tapp from Virginia Tech

I could go for picking Bush as well, lol.

There is no way that the Texans are going to trade down. They are taking Reggie Bush. He sells tickets. Every defensive game plan will have to be concerned with not only Andre Johnson, DD, etc, but also will have to cover Bush. And you can bet Kubiak will line him up all over the field. His versatility will make every defensive coordinator have nightmares. The fact that they brought in Flanagan, Putzier, and the other free agents takes the pressure off of the Texans moving down. They will draft young talent to develope. Bush, however, does not need much development. IMHO.:redtowel:

IMO this is our best acquisition as a franchise.

now if we could somehow land javon walker, even for 1 season, we could be in contention in the division.
