J, do you ever wonder about old time members disappearing? Ever think about why? Who is it that turns every thread into the same old **** show?

Hint: It's not 'Cak or KDog or TB74 or Mangler... maybe it's Thorn or JB or Obsi, we all know what old curmudgeons they are. Try giving Bill and Sandy a call maybe... or look in a mirror

I got tired of a certain someone turning every single thread into the same argument. It gets extremely tiring and annoying. When this person even managed to bring this topic into the Astros thread, I lost it and finally put said person on Ignore.

The Rockets made the playoffs each of the last five years and the Western Conference Finals twice, but failed to get past that point. Are they a success or a failure?

Five years of winning the division, having high playoff seeding and making deep playoff runs. But no Finals appearances. Are they a success or a failure?

Moray has made move after move after move and they have not gotten to the Finals. Are they a success or a failure?

Tilman and Les spent a ton of money on max contracts and they have not gotten to the Finals. Are they a success or a failure?

Yes it is.

Considering the Warriors had 5 all star level players on their team.

Nope, I know that some on here say the Texans org has been as successful as the Astros/Rockets.

Yes, the Texans have been run like crap for years and most likely will never win a SB as long as they are owned by the McNair's.

That may be a tough pill to swallow for some but that's not my fault

You are right though about Cak but unfortunately he has this site set up where if you're going to be a member you have to read his incessant drivel I'm going to have to try the guys away method, or leave the site until the season starts.
All I'm saying is that your opinion of the issues within the Texans org tends to derail every thread. It rubs some people the wrong way.

I used to have an issue with Cak until I realized I was rising to the bait every time he trolled me. It was actually kind of funny seeing how easily he baited me (once I read things sober) and a lot of what he does is keeping the thread on topic-ish and the convo moving. I would be shocked to see a message board where the moderators could be ignored. That would defeat the very purpose of having moderators.

STB gives them accolades for spending the big $$ on FAs. What STB doesn't seem to understand is that the NFL is exceedingly different from the NBA and MLB. The Texans have to deal with a hard cap and a 52 man roster that dwarfs any other professional sports. The consistently successful teams build through the draft (as Gaine was trying to do) and plug a hole here in there in FA. No FA that Gaine was unsuccessful in signing made a huge impact on the team that signed them to huge contracts. Hell, the two biggish FA signings by Gaine went down with injuries.

SBT often cites the Colts and Ballard as a model the Texans need to follow. See what he thinks about the right way to build a team: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...ard-colts-scouting-draft-nfl-fmia-peter-king/

If only there was a loaded NFL team with tons of all pros that always won championships that the Texans could never beat...
You mean like the 90-93 Bills that ANY NFC team that made the Super Bowl beat? Or the 80's Bronco's with Elway as QB? Winning a SB is freaking hard. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is rife with great players that never won a championship and with those only there because they won championships. I prefer the former.

Dang Doc spitting some real skit. Yes it's very hard to win a SB. So many variables to account for. Throw in a little lady luck bounce in there as well.

That's not how the Rams/Eagles etc... were built.

Yet the Colts signed Justin Houston etc... this offseason. I do like how Ballard spent the capital to build his OL. But I like Ballard because he's from Texas City.

Comparing those teams to the Texans org?

LMAO

How many more days until the Texans either win the division or clinch a wildcard spot and then lose in the first round? I am excited this same discussion next again next year. Not.
The part of Gary's post I referred to is bolded. Rockets have also won and lost in first round was all I was saying.

Yep. No comparison in those two leagues with the parity-driven rules of the NFL.

Stay on topic, guys.
Fire O'Brien now.

Every time I go back and watch any of the playoff games, like today, again, I wonder how the heck O'Brien still have the job.

They say that the truth sometimes hurts. But what about the 9 game dominant winning streak? Nobody can cuss and treat people like **** quite like OBrien you know. He’s a QB guru too. His play design? Too advanced for simple minds. Shoot only reason we haven’t won back to back rings is cuz of injuries. OBrien is GOAT.

I honestly think OB still has a job because Cal thinks that after showing a GM unusual loyalty and it back-fired, maybe showing a HC, with obvious flaws, unusual loyalty will do the trick.

Well the Houston Texans wont even have a general manager til next year how can they be expected to negotiate with Clowney and be proactive on the free agent market? Oh yea thats right Bill OBrien is ALSO a personnel expert, a capologist, AND the scouting department all rolled into one cute ass faced package! We are so lucky!

Olsen has the JDC negs under control.

LOL

I actually expect Clowney to be re-signed for some reason.

We are talking about how he got Gaine fired because Gaine wanted to extend Clowney.

Wait what, where did that come from. Dude do you like have one of those conspiracy walls with all the strings showing connections and Bill O'Brien being at the center of it all? I'm serious you have not only dived off the deep end but you did it holding a boat anchor. Let me see if I've gotten everything.

BoB had Bob McNair hire Gaine because he wanted a yes man that would do everything he said

BoB got Gaine fired because he didn't want to extend Clowney and Gaine did so they were disagreeing,

BoB also got Gaine fired because he wanted to bring in Caserio,

BoB also is trying to ruin the defense because...….reasons,

BoB has all this power yet he doesn't just cut Clowney or trade him away for peanuts because...…...reasons,

BoB brought in Easterby and set him up to be the number two most powerful man in the Texans Org,

BoB has Easterby making the GM decisions and the person listed as the intern GM is just a misdirection,

BoB is able to get Cal to do everything he wants except for the things that he wants to do like apparently not resign Clowney

BoB is secretly hated by all the players and they don't want to play here yet they don't say anything, even after no longer being a Texan, because...….reasons

BoB hates Brian Cuching and ran him out of town yet later, despite having the power to get a GM fired, didn't have the power to stop him from being hired as a coach

I'm sure I've missed some but I think overall its a pretty good list. I'm serious man this is some Lex Luthor, Dr. Doom level of super villainy. You say BoB is a moron yet somehow he is able to manipulate hundreds of highly educated, successful people across thousands of miles to follow his orders. Forget football this dude should be running for president.

Why did Gaine get fired?

Source material for any other reason than what the Texans stated in their presser?

Otherwise it is just speculation, making for good message board conversations. Nothing wrong with that, other than attempting to present it as facts.

Yep,

The Texans are known for being a transparent/truthful org.

Agreed,

I was just pointing this out to sandman who is looking for nothing more than the garbage the Texans PR team is throwing out there.

Did I say that I believed what they said? I asked what source material outside of their official press release was available to support the assumptions being presented as facts. I didn't say people couldn't assume. I didn't say there couldn't be conversations around the assumptions. I didn't say "thus Cal said, thus it is true".

You have a really bad habit of telling people what they are saying. It would do you good to actually listen/read what people are saying instead of making hasty responses based on your own bias.

Nope , it would do me good to stop responding to you

I actually enjoy debating topics and the passion that comes with it so I'm sorry you feel this way. But I'm not going to allow you to put words in my mouth that I never said. If that means you can no longer respond to me, well that's your issue not mine.

Fine

Tweet from @AdamSchefter: The Houston Texans are not hiring a general manager for the 2019 season and instead will divvy up those responsibilities amongst existing front-office members such as Matt Bazirgan, James Liipfert, Chris Olsen and Jack Easterby, per league sources. But no GM in 2019 for Houston.

So pretty much what we've known for weeks now.

So GM by committee. I dunno but don't see a problem here ?
I mean with or without an official GM the big decisions are made by ownership anyway.
