Favre Watch.....Again

the only way this guy will stop is if he was paralized,

and or shot from the nfl network people. who are geting mad about covering the same stuff over and over:gun:!

I have a desperate need to see Mario Williams and Conner Barwin crush Brett Favre out of existence. I'm not necessarily calling for intentional injury but I can't deny that seeing the Texans defense put Sage back in the starters spot wouldn't be fun. After what Jared Allen did to Schaub last season I think it would be a karma kind of thing.

3rd preseason game, starters play the most time of any preseason matchup. I think this is going to be a great game to watch.

I'd rather see one of our big boys legally fall on Jared Allen's legs and take him out this season. What he did to Schaub last year was just low-life scumbag crap, IMO.

As far as Favre, I don't get the hate for the guy. Yeah, hate the hype, but the dude is who he is and someone is willing to pay him to play. That's life in the NFL.

The problem that I have with Favre returning is that the Texans are going to be psyched up. Maybe a bit TOO psyched up. I mean I know it's just a preseason game but I can't help but get excited. I have to keep reminding myself... It's just preseason. It's just preseason. Albeit it being just a preseason game... I'm fairly certain that the Texans are now treating it as a regular season game since it's nationally televised in addition to the return of Brett Favre. I just want us to play our reps and get the heck out of dodge intact. We need to be gameplanning against the Jets. Not Brett Favre. I'm treating the Minnesota game as a real test to our run stopping abilities more than anything. Brett defrays from that.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a HUGE Brett Favre fan. I'm really really happy he's back in the league. He's still a gunslinger. I'm with DoubleBarrell here. It's just the media hyping up Favre's desire and turning it into a saga.

I don't care either way, retired or back. It will be interesting to see if someone else that I know will remain as enthusiastic as last month. Only time will tell.

Not only did he sign, he's already on the practice field.

Who here thinks Sage will go Tonya Harding on him?

well good.. that gives our secondary a chance to show what it can or cannot do in a game

maybe D-rob will bite the bullet ..come into camp so he can play against favre
:tease:

A big positive for Favre is that they won't rely on his arm nearly as much as previous teams did, simply because they have one of - if not the - best RB in the league right now.

I honestly don't feel bad for Sage. I've gotten over his Rosencopter meltdown that was the difference between 8-8 and 9-7, but I really have no reason to root for him or Favre. They're just players to me.

And c'mon, as a backstory in the NFL, you can't help but find amusement in Favre playing for the Vikings, of all teams. It's good entertainment!

Farve, I'm sick of 'em. As soon as I get in my car this afternoon and turn on the radio (NPR) and what is the first thing I hear? Then tail end of a Farve story about how he be in a Vikings uniform taking the field in Green Bay this fall. On NPR of all places.

I'm now officially sick to death of Farve this and Farve that. I'm afraid to turn on NFLN because of it.

So much hatred for Favre, come on wishing for him to get hurt is a bit much. The guy is obviously having a hard time leaving the game. I can't imagine playing the game like he has for 15 years and then have to leave. He hasn't been the only QB to ever do this and he won't be the last.

I am jealous if anything.

I'm rather tired of Favre myself - but I can certainly understand not wanting to quit something you love just because your arm doesn't work as it once did. I don't think you can beat even an injured Favre in the locker room. If I were a player, I can't think of anyone still playing I'd rather play with for no other reason than his love for the game is contagious.

Count me in the camp of folks who "knew" this would come to pass. What a joke. I still don't understand how the Vik's improved all that much. I don't think Favre will have it this year.

I'm with you. I watched the Vike's preseason game and Sage moved the offense effectively. So unless they plan to dump T.Jackson, I don't know why they needed Brett Favre.

They just wanted the media circus around them 24/7 that's all.

I am wondering if there will be some extra emphasis, by the Texans' defensive players, when we play Minnesota, to try and let Brett know that they still have a former Texans' player's back.

Brett Favre has issues. Deep issues.

This is beyond the "Aw shucks, I just wanna' go out there and play one more time" attitude that he and others are trying to project upon the situation.

This is a guy who loves attention, to an extreme, and he loves to see how much he can make people squirm. I honestly think he's unable to cope with the idea of NOT being in the spotlight.

And he doesn't care who he damages or inconveniences along the way. In fact, being destructive IS part of his motive IMO.

Lump this guy into the same bucket that contains other self-seeking, egotistical, and insecure professional athletes, as far as I am concerned. And it's a pretty short list, btw. Some people do this thing once. Others take it to a whole new level.

This only ends badly. Which will be of his own doing. If you can't hack training camp, battling out a roster spot the good old fashioned way, then how could you feel that you are a leader on the team? Haven't you, by your actions and the willing enabling of others who look at you like you're a $5 scratch-off ticket, placed yourself as a novelty instead of the guy who was there with you through all the hard work and time spent alongside the other guys?

I have a feeling Brett will have someone help him get suited up on Sunday. Maybe he can be golf-carted down to the field in front of the other players as they run behind the cart. Will he have to throw the ball, or will the league allow Sage to run in and throw it for him?

LOL. What a freaking nonsensical thing. I'm going to have to watch "Groundhog Day" to find out how to wake up from the same thing that keeps happening each season.

Why in the hell are people so passionate about whether this guy plays football or not???????????????? WHAT THE HELL???

It doesn't make any sense why people are mad, upset, emotionally charge, or whatever you want to call it, about whether a man makes a living on a football field or not. Why in the hell does that matter to ANYBODY????

Other than f'ing up your fantasy draft (where if you drafted a Viking QB it's f'd up anyway), but my God man....the reaction by people about what this guy does or doesn't or does or doesn't.....why the F does that matter so much to you? Who bleeping cares??

If the man wants to play AND somebody wants him on their team....MORE FREAKING POWER TO YOU.

I will never get why people HAVE to know if he's gonna retire or not. Why you WISH he'd make up his mind. I just don't get it. Who cares? As long as it's not the Texans, I don't give a flying rat's ass what he does or how he does it.

I don't give a crap if he plays or not. I don't give a crap if he can't make up his mind about retiring or not. I don't give a crap if he does it a million years in a row. Who am I to say a man needs to stop doing something he loves?

Unbelievable!!!

I hope you are not referring to Rosenfail because I doubt any Texans player cares to show him they got his back since he said the Vikings were the best team he has ever played.

If anything any defensive player better be putting this extra emphasis on tackling and hitting because of what happen to Schaub last year.

Actually Speedy, what is unbelievable is we won't get half the news about what is going on around the league or get less news on our team because this asshat is going to be the running headline for another week straight.

Perhaps if he could just sign and do his thing and we didn't have to hear about how his sweat is equivalent to rain from the heavens we could freaking manage to move on and put our lives back together. But hell no, it's all about him, ROLL TAPE!

Unbelievable is exactly right.

Most of us are sick of hearing about it, year after year. He decided to leave Green Bay, so Green Bay decided to move on with their back up who had been groomed to take his spot. A couple months go by and Bretty boy decides he's not done. Calls up the ole Pack, says hey your boyfriend is back. Well, they are not having it. Seems they made a decision and they are prepared *gasp* to stick with it, despite all the media and even their own fans critizing them for sticking to their guns. Farve gets pissed, wants to play for the Vikes so he can try and beat them and make 'em pay. Doesn't work out, already committed to come out of retirement and goes to the Jets. Fast forward another year and its SSDD (same **** different day). He's doing it all out of spite, he's coming in to get back at the Packers, now one more player will have to be cut from the team (someone trying to make a living an provide for their family I might add) just so he can play with an INJURY and pump his consecutive start record and try and beat his old team. It's ego-centric, he's a selfish asshat, and he's tarnished his image.

But hey, if the media didn't have devote so much f'n coverage to the same story we have all seen a dozen times, I probably would not give 2 shits......but that's just me.

Sage will be a good soldier

Though questions remain whether Tarvaris Jackson will rebel in the wake of the arrival of Brett Favre (Jackson says he won't), there are no such concerns regarding the mindset of Sage Rosenfels.

Per a league source, Rosenfels plans on being a good solider.

And that makes sense. Rosenfels has never been a starter, so he's losing nothing. For him, the only reality is that he will no longer have a chance to compete for the starting job.

But Rosenfels will be in position to replace Favre, if his rotator cuff tears the rest of the way, either because his rotator cuff has torn or because it hasn't torn but the team and/or Favre will say it has torn simply because he has lost his fastball.

Moreover, unless the Third Annual Favre Retirement becomes the Third Annual Favre Unretirement, Rosenfels will be the guy in 2010 -- with a full year to learn the system.

..................Sooner than later

No one does care but he sure likes to make announcements and make it known when he is doing one or the other. Attention Whore Syndrome. Since we have 24/7 loops of sports news its annoying. So with all that said I hope he takes a helmet under the chin and someone craps down his throat.

I hope Favre kicks ass and takes names and shows all you haters that he's still got it.

I don't get the hate for Favre and love for Jared Allen. That's an effed up situation, IMHO. :um:

FWIW, I like them both. I like the way they both play the game. "Favre Watch" and all the other crap the media spews over Favre, on the other hand, sucks and I can't stand it.

The media is to blame for the blimish that might now be on Favre's legacy.

Yeah, I certainly don't disagree with you about the media's obsession over any given player. It's just goofy.

Obviously, I might feel different about Favre if it was my team, but since it's not, it's just entertainment to me. :)

I'm just sick and tired about hearing about Favre. It's not that I hate Favre, I just went from not caring about him to not wanting to hear any more about him... last year.

He was never one of my favorite QB's. I think he's over-rated. But you can't argue against the numbers. The guy is a sure-fire HOF.

I just don't want to hear about him any more.

In his press conference, his response to people like me was "Don't watch." The problem with that is that he's all over NFLN and ESPN. I'm not trying to watch him, I just can't NOT watch him. If I could NOT watch him, I would. Or something like that.

The funny thing is that even the media jokes about how much people are sick of all the coverage, and yet they still cover it. last night on Total Access a comment was made after a Favre segment something like this, Now something totaly unrelated to Favre, I know we have only covered Favre just a little bit.

They know they over cover it but yet they still do it.

What he said.... again. It's weariness. It's like watching reruns for 4-5 years straight. It's like the annual Roger Clemens show. I don't care if he comes back but it would be nice if he wouldn't turn it into a 3-4 month soap opera every year. Other aging players deal with these same exact issues. "Can my body take it?", "Do I still want to do this?" They don't have to play it out in front of enough cameras to make it a 24 hour reality TV show every single year.

I'm really not a hater, but I'm getting there.

Well, that's your media for you. And that's why I don't watch ESPN any more, except for games. That's it. I have an internet where I can find info I want, not what the media thinks I should want.

If you're looking to get other news about what's going on around the league, you should know by now that that's the last place you need to be looking. If it's not Favre it's TO. If it's not TO it's Chad OC. You ought to know this by now.

How can you be sick of seeing something you know they're going to show you, yet you keep tuning in expecting them to show you something different? What's that saying about doing the same thing and expecting different results?

See this is where I disagree. As a Cowboy fan I used to watch Favre and think, "I hate playing him but man does he love playing and can ball."

Then about 3-4 years ago he started this retirement stuff. Fine if it happens once..maybe twice but we are going on what...6-7 times now..sometimes multiple times in one year. To me he is an attention whore. If you aren't sure, keep your mouth shut because of the media. He knows this. He forced Green Bays hand yet he tries to convince people that they showed him the door unfairly. When a coach tried to rein him in like Mangini did he complained he was mistreated....though it has been shown that only coaches that have reined him succeeded with him. He has alienated teammates and people are losing it if they think he didn't see a cash grab here and change his mind again. The media sucks with it but Favre tarnished his own image. The guy just told Peter King weeks ago that he felt too run down after summer workouts to play for a season and now he decides to after camp?Give me a break.

And what you're complaining about has everything to do with ESPN, not with Favre. How about boycotting ESPN and complaining about them? I agree that the Favre watch stuff is annoying as well, but that's ESPN that runs that circus not Favre. They choose to make everything about Favre, not him.

You're exactly right Speedy. It amazes me how many sports fans across the country are to thick to understand that this is all on ESPN. Favre is just one guy that either wants to play or doesn't want to play. ESPN is the culprit that decides to make this the biggest story year after year. Then they complain about it as well, like the hypocrites that they are on that trash can of a network, but continue to cover it non stop. ESPN has ruined his legacy here not Favre. He's just an indecisive person that can't ever decide on what he wants to do and all his decisions haven't been the right ones obviously, but ESPN is the network that won't get off of this.

Why don't fans send letters and emails to ESPN instead of going on an all out Favre bashing. ESPN is the company that sets the tone here.

Then about 3-4 years ago he started this retirement stuff. Fine if it happens once..maybe twice but we are going on what...6-7 times now..sometimes multiple times in one year. To me he is an attention whore.

See, that's what I'm talking about. Why does that matter to you? Why does that bother you? Are you losing money because of it? Is you life somehow becoming more complicated because of it? Has your children's grades dropped because of it? If Favre held a news conference every day of the off-season saying NO, and then a week before the season starts he signs with somebody, why do you care?

People are so sick of the Farve stuff yet they keep tuning in to everyone reporting it. Then they come to message boards and talk about it some more. If you're sick of it, don't watch ESPN, don't read an article about him, don't click on a thread about him, don't make a post about him.

I didn't even know Favre signed until 11:00 last night. I don't get it forced down my throat like most seem to be because I don't watch the crap that is ESPN. And when I've had my fill of it here, I won't click on another thread about it.

Pretty simple to me.
