Fast Mock Draft 2.0

Impressive measurables... can he play any?

Only thing I could find .

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1693199

[QUOTERead & React: Very quick reacting to plays in his area and able to get across the field in a hurry to help on those outside his immediate zone. Lacks great instincts and discipline, gets sucked in on play-action and fooled by misdirection when playing near the line. Takes too aggressive of an angle near the line, giving up the sideline instead of at least forcing plays inside.

Man Coverage: Has a surprisingly quick backpedal, taking slot receivers on occasion. Good change-of-direction despite his height, will stay with outside receivers but needs to prove coverage skills against quick pro receivers. Good ball skills, has the hands and ability to high-point that teams may try him as a receiver. Inexperienced pressing on the line.

Zone Coverage: True centerfielder, takes away deep balls with his height and athleticism. Goes from one sideline to the other to help corners or bring down receivers on his own. Can be an intimidating force on crossing routes, likes to make receivers feel his presence with a big hit. Better reacting to plays in front of him than anticipating routes. Will bite on play-action, leaving his man on an island outside.

Closing/Recovery: Excellent closing speed. Transitions from pedal to plant-and-drive well. Uses speed and size to track down players, even if initially taking a poor angle. Rangy player who gets to the sideline to contest deep balls.

Run Support: Willing in run support, closes on ballcarriers at the sideline or between the tackle and drags them down, though he usually played too far off the line of scrimmage to make a huge impact. Puts shoulder into pulling guards to hold his ground and maintain his gap near the goal line but won't overwhelm veteran pro linemen. Must learn to use his length to keep distance from blockers and disengage to make plays; gets pushed away too easily by linemen and fullbacks.

Tackling: Likes the physical aspect of the game. If a receiver is in his path, he will wrap him up and plant him. Likes to lower the shoulder as well, whether dislodging the ball from a receiver or aiding a teammate in making a stop. However, ducks his head too often, trying to grab a leg even if in position to blow up a running back and receiver near the line; will whiff against elusive ballcarriers. Looks for the hit instead of wrapping up in space at times. Susceptible to cut blocks due to his height, needs to feel those blocks and use his hands to defeat.

Intangibles: Plays with the confident, physical attitude that teams want. Good teammate, backs them when needed and congratulates them after plays. Junior college transfer. No major character concerns.

In the bit I have watched, he seems like more of a SS. He has pretty good ball skills, but I don't think he would fair well in coverage against NFL caliber receivers.

Interesting prospect I can see the reason why he would get drafted, but with all those physical skills I guess you have to wonder about the mental skills.

I also wonder why such a gifted athlete ends up at a small school like Northern Iowa.

With the 130th pick, the Saints select...

D'Anthony Smith, DT

Should have gone a little higher but at this point he is a steal for the Saints. Gives them another rotational linemen who can produce at the next level.

I do not think the 5th round falls the way we are drafting right now.

6. Philadelphia - from Cleveland (5-11)

You are right, the Seahawks should have the Lions pick because they traded Rob Sims.

In any case, I don't mind taking Eric Olsen, the Center for the Seahawks.

Good pick HE34. As long as he plays up to his potential.

The Browns needed a 3-4 DE and Woods could fill that void . In fact the Pats are working him out for that . He and Troup give the Brown's some youth on the DL .

Can someone revive this mock .

Great RT prospect for the Skins in the 5th round.

On a sidenote, if anyone searches for images of Jason Fox, I suggest turning on your safesearch filter. I think there's a gay male porn star with that name. EWWWWWWWW

I know some people said no thanks to carrying on to the 5th. I think rmartin was one of them.

Can we just check who actually wants in on the rest of this and maybe reallocate those teams without GMs now.

The Bills are ecstatic to have a player they have coveted for more than a round and a half still there for them.

Possibly the most complete package at his position in the draft (and a player I would love to see in Texans colours)..

Anthony McCoy, USC, TE

The Chicago Bears Select: Sam Young, T, Notre Dame

The Bears need some competition at RT where Kevin Shaffer just isnt getting the job done.

BEARS DRAFT:

Overall I filled their biggest need at safety. Then added a potential starter at DE which was thin due to the sudden death of Gaines Adams. Then I added a potential starter at RT to help with the run game and help the depth at the tackle position.

Round 3: Chad Jones, S, Louisiana State

Round 4: Jermaine Cunningham, DE, Florida

Round 5: Sam Young, T, Notre Dame

8 more picks before the Texans selection. I would like to be able to make that before the draft if possible.

The San Francisco 49'ers select Kyle Calloway OT, Iowa.
RackMultipart.16405.0_display_image.jpg

As GM I'm committed to building a dominant OL for our running game. Solid play from our OL and RBs will only help our passing game. With the additions of Jerry and Calloway, I'm on my way of doing just that. Jerry may slide inside to G if Calloway looks like he can be my RT.

Thar she blows!

Thanks Kiwi.

Ok I adjusted my Pick to Sam Young of Notre Dame. Back in the day was the #1 recruit coming out and was named Florida's Gatorade Player of the Year in 2005 beating out Spiller and Tebow. I think he has potential at right tackle, and for a 5th round pick I am ok with the boom bust percentage. An extra knock on sam is that at 6'8" he is almost too tall to play guard if he cant hack it at tackle.

I had to google the name and still can't find much on him. What is the appeal here?

Regardless of what draft websites say, I'm high on this guy. He is big (6'3" 315-lbs) and had an impressive 2008 campaign with 48 tackles, 9.5 tackles for losses, and 5 sacks.

He is not well known but I felt he would be a good developmental player and as far as I know doesn't have a history of getting into trouble or anything. He takes on blockers and allows his teammates to get the sexy stats and he is a very team-first player with a great attitude.

He is not without his weaknesses, he may be big but needs to get stronger and has quickness but doesn't have the pass rush ability. One thing that really impresses me is his stamina, which a lot of DTs lack.

I might have taken him a round early, but I've hit the needs for the Seahawks and I think with this draft they are ready to roll. (This is coming from the games I've seen with him playing)
