You can't have it both ways. You can't diminish Watson's value by holding his feet to the fire and still get a king's ransom in draft picks. Watson is holding the cards, and the Texans have no choice but to trade.
Really. What changed is O'Brien was fired and Easterby tightened his grip on the organization. Someone screwed this franchise over. And it wasn't Watson.
O'Brien got a promotion before the season ever started. The 4 straight losses, O'Brien being O'Brien, and Rasputin whispering in Cal's ear, put him on the hot seat.BoB was on the hot seat before the 2020 season even started.
Regardless of how you feel, the players in the league have a ton of respect for Deshaun. He’s the kind of QB players make decisions around. They’re all now sitting front row to a dumpster fire organization ruining its biggest asset.
Not really. Nuk was traded before he signed his deal..that was the supposed seed of his anger. Easterby had also been here before he signed his extension.
These types of spur of the moment trade requests usually arise out of contentious contract requests..not disputes with FO personnel owners or coach searches. The fact is DW4 served himself first. I think he wanted out beforehand, but he had to get his money 1st. He got his big money extension with the no trade clause which more or less protected him from losing any money if he were to get injured during the course of the season last year and then he orchestrated his departure....like Nuk. And in doing this, he screwed the franchise over.

Any way you turn this, it always comes back to Easterby.
this is true since Bob wanted gm duties along with hcEh, no one even paid attention to Easterby until BoB was fired. All of this “Easterby whispering in Cal’s ear” crap is overblown imo. He like a lot of guys I’m sure has Cal’s ear...but make no mistake, the moves that have been made over the last couple of years are BoB’s and Cal’s moves alone. They made them. Not Easterby.
Why are you defending easterby so much with the known things he's done?Eh, no one even paid attention to Easterby until BoB was fired. He's not much different than the fans.
Screwing the franchise would have been to play his rookie contract out and leave in FA. By extending with the Texans, at least we have a trade-able asset that will demand a huge return.

Cal was likely assured by Rasputin that the Culley hire and retaining Kelly would soothe all wounds. Cal is still being played.Has POS Cal McNair made any kind of public statement regarding this DW4 fiasco?
I'll take Andre Johnson's opinion over yours. No offense. All of this “Easterby whispering in Cal’s ear” crap is overblown imo.

To be fair, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. AJ, who knows what's going on behind the scenes, is telling him to hold his ground.
A lot has changed since he signed that contract.

Overblown or not, it’s causing an exodus of talent. This will trickle down. There is zero way you can spin Easterby being an asset to the team at this point.
I think 90% of the fans are requesting a trade. Hey Cal, trade me to the Chiefs fans for a box of crackerjacks and a used condom. That would be about the same as the Hopkins trade.
Not trying to. But if you think his firing is all of a sudden Gonna repair things you’re sadly mistaken. Easterby is just the latest scapegoat.
Exactly. I don't know why people act like time stood still and things didn't change after he signed the contract.

JJ bout to be outta here too, this should be a textbook case of how not to run a NFL franchise.
They rationalize it by saying they don't believe the SI story. Why are you defending easterby so much with the known things he's done?
It was a general statement as in no one can justify keeping Easteby at this point because he literally brings nothing to the table. His firing won’t put out this dumpster fire but it also won’t keep adding to it.

If JJ decides to retire, the same group of company men on this forum will find a way to blame him for this organizations failures. They claim to want whats best for the team but are quick turn on any player as long as it deflects blame and responsibility away from the organization.
Unprecedented; what's the last time a qb in their prime wanted out from a team this bad?
You're giving our ownership too much credit ClemsonJets. They hired the guy no one has ever heard of because they wanted to, not because they didn't have other options. And no one wants to coach the Texans. This is why they resorted to hiring a guy no one has ever heard of.
The funny thing about the "company men" is that there's no more than 5 of them on the board but they type really fast. These dudes get around. If JJ decides to retire, the same group of company men on this forum will find a way to blame him for this organizations failures. Cal McNair = Obstinate. Arrogant, Stubborn, Insensitive, Spoiled Trust Fund Baby.Yes, Cal has behaved like a petulant teenager.

false, I've watched less Texans games now than ever before despite having more time to do watch. much easier to only care about the players you need on fantasy which will make you money versus giving money away to some quasi-billionaire for putting out a real bad product. And the same people who are swearing off the team in the “I quit” thread will be back in front of their TV’s watching too. It don’t just flow 1 way bro.
This is going to be an off-season for the ages.
If you can’t trust your employer, you should seek employment elsewhere.
Good job by DW4. It’s his career and his legacy. Secure it. Don’t waste another career on this loser franchise.
why doesnt every other team that loses do same thing then? The video of JJ apologizing to Watson for wasting a year of his career certainly seems like foreshadowing at this point.
