It was cool with Astroworld there. Have you noticed the gentrification going on in 3rd and 5th ward?
Yes I do, I do work for some of the companies that have started build high end apartment complexes there. I actually wonder how this idea is going to turnout from a business perspective? I'm guessing very well.

It's already having effect, while Watson's performance thus far has been questionable. Watson will now be more than ever under the gun to produce.

The sooner Cleveland sours on Watson and the whole thing blows up in their collective faces the better. :)

Browns GM says restructuring Deshaun Watson's market-shifting contract 'could be on the table'

Why would a selfish pervert even entertain such a thing? He has zero reasons to give a crap about the team. He got paid. That's all he ever cared about other than preying on women.

People hate what they fear. DW is gone. perhaps there is still fear that that jerk will lead the Browns to the playoffs?

No. People still have a strong dislike for a player that bad mouthed this team to hide his 25+ sexual assault allegations months after signing a long term contract with a no trade clause that ended up putting the Texans in a tough spot. The last three years of misery have been a direct result of Watson, OB and Easterby.

Sadly the victims like in D.W. case, are treated like nobodies and people like D.W. want to play the victim. Not the first nor will be the last time.

Trying to figure out why people think its a big deal around restructuring his contract. It's fully guaranteed so why would DW care when or how it's paid? The Browns can maneuver it however they want to help their cap, it's in the contract.

They would just be kicking the can down the road for a bigger cap hit. That signing bonus still goes towards the cap, and restructuring really only hurts them and their future.

The Browns are re-signing CB A J Green. He earned a PFF grade 43.6 for last season. Didn't have much luck staying on the field. But when he did, with 15 targets, he allowed 12 receptions.

But the Bonus gets spread as a cap hit over max of 5 years...........over time if the Browns keep doing this (and with other players), their future cap numbers could become difficult to manage.
Would push 33.69 million to future years where the cap hit would be over 60 million. Gotta wonder if Browns have cold feet about doing a restructure since it hasn’t happened yet.

Whatever salary was restructured to a signing bonus, he gets paid right away, not on a weekly basis.
I am pretty sure that is not correct And depends on the contract wording. Depending on the amount of the Bonus it can be paid in agreed upon Future dates.

Maybe you can agree with the player, but it's called a "signing" bonus for a reason.

A signing bonus is a manipulation of the salary cap that was agreed to by the owners and the players association as it puts bucks in th both sides Bank accounts. The only assertion I was making is that the signing bonus Does not always going immediately into the player's hands.

No, I understood your original response. It's definitely an accounting manipulation of the salary cap. It doesn't mean it can't be a traditional signing bonus, where all the money is paid at "signing", which I bet usually is what happens. That's why restructuring a contract is never a favor that a player does a team. It usually means he gets his money faster. Sure, maybe a team and a player can agree on a payout schedule, but that would have to be agreed upon case by case, because by definition a signing bonus is a signing bonus. That's the way I understand it anyway.

Browns fans are calling for their GM to be fired because he hasn’t signed any top talent yet. Which is funny because even though they cleared the 36 million for this year, they can’t sign many impact players with the cap they currently have left after today. Also, can’t give out many if any long term deals.

The Athletic report was total confabulation.

Report: 1 NFL Team Would’ve Matched Deshaun Watson’s Browns Contract If Given Chance
TIMOTHY RAPPMARCH 21, 2022

Watson’s side never shopped the [Brown offer. When the stunning announcement was made that Watson was headed to Cleveland and contract details emerged, one team called and asked why it wasn’t given an opportunity to match — because, they insisted, they would have. The answer: Watson wanted to go to Cleveland. His only hurdle had been moving to a city where he’d never really been before.
