DW4 Traded to Cleveland

Interesting, but I doubt Watson would waive the NTC for the browns

Mayfield's inconsistent at best play is their biggest problem, They have a good running game, just attempted to up grade WR and their defense is good especially considering the troubles on offense.

I've seen this stated by multiple posters. None have explained how that influence would be exercised.

By using the NTC as leverage.

He is meeting with the other teams before hand. He can tell them he won’t waive his NTC unless there are limited assets being traded. Only two firsts instead of three. Behind closed door talks collusion is easy.

Unless NC gets him to waive it first like what has been reported.

If NC doesn’t get that done then Watson will get to review the specifics of the trade and leverage his NTC. We know he likes to play “owner” trying to get say in hiring the GM. And he has stated he doesn’t want the team he goes to give up everything for him.

In any event it should be obvious by now that selecting DM last year in the third round wasn’t a trashable offense like ive read many places here. For one we don’t have to gamble a top pick for one of these QB’s coming out. If it works the Texans would be miles ahead. If it doesn’t what third rounder was going to put us in the SB? Great pick NC.

They won't know which other teams are trying to negotiate or which teams Watson waived the ntc for, or might waive it for in the future?
I see your point and agree but I was coming from the standpoint that the NTC be damned. The Texans don’t have to trade him to a team that he waived his NTC for. Open up the entire wall to throw the pasta at and see what sticks…then you know what is ready.

Let's not Overlook 210 lb running back chubba Hubbard who in 2019 as a sophomore for Oklahoma State had 19 touchdowns. He had five his rookie year running behind McCaffrey with an additional one receiving.

I would have been fine with getting Drew Lock back as part of a trade with Denver.

I wouldn't mind Trubisky or even Tua. I could be talked into Mayfield.

Got no use for Darnold.

Nick Caserio knows he could be making history with this trade of Watson. Demand the kitchen sink. 2022 1.6 + 2023 round 1 and 2 + 2024 round 1

WR DJ Moore---Terrace Marshall moves up
RB Chubba Hubbard---McAffrey continues to start
OG Deonte Brown---down from 360- 335 pounds 6th rounder from Alabama
FS Jeremy Chinn---Tony Pride steps up
DE Brian Burns--- Yeter Gross-Matos moves up
CB CJ Henderson---Horn continues to start

Any of those quarterbacks would be empty air in a bag of potato chips. I want the whole bag. If a Watson trade is going to be made with the Texans acquiring assets already in the league, I want those assets to be starters. Mills is the starting quarterback.

Pass.

He was unimpressive last yr.

Give me a guy like Pierce or White in the 3rd/4th Rd range.

Solomon: Deshaun Watson faces questions beyond his next team
One wonders if the quarterback is closer to being the person those close to him have...

The yearlong saga of legal maneuverings in the wake of accusations of sexual misconduct committed by Deshaun Watson finally reached a grand jury Friday, and Watson’s team won, as it were.

The District Attorney’s office presented nine criminal complaints, and the grand jury declined to indict Watson on any of them.

“We will conclude the criminal proceedings in Harris County,” said Johna Stallings, division chief of the adult sex crimes unit.

Watson, who had not spoken publicly since the first lawsuit was filed a year ago, said he is eager to return to his place on the field and in the community.

“People are entitled to their own opinion,” Watson said Friday after the decision was announced. “But today, justice was served for us.”

While the grand jury no-bill doesn’t signify innocence, it removes a major impediment to Watson being traded by the Texans, which he and the team both desire.

It won’t be long now. The best quarterback in franchise history will be shipped to another team before the NFL Draft on April 28.

Despite the ongoing 22 civil lawsuits against Watson, suitors are lining up coast-to-coast now that he faces no jail time.

“Any quarterback-needy teams that said they weren’t interested were lying,” a former NFL general manager said. “Now that serious charges are off the table, they will come and come hard.

“This is an unprecedented situation that could make a GM’s career. Years from now, everyone could be calling this the trade of the century. I’m not exaggerating.”

That would be if Watson lives up to his potential. He arguably was one of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL at the conclusion of the 2020 season, when he was just 25 years old with a pristine reputation.

His on-the-field rep remains strong. Watson is elusive, with a strong arm, fearless in the pocket, has big-play capabilities, shows poise under pressure and always has displayed outstanding leadership.

Philadelphia, Seattle, Carolina, New Orleans Minnesota and Tampa Bay are among the teams reported to have interest in acquiring Watson.

Miami almost acquired him during the season. The team mediator tried to facilitate settlements between Watson and the civil plaintiffs before the NFL trade deadline in early November. The Dolphins now say they are no longer interested.

Watson has stuck the Texans with making the best of a bad situation.

Whatever missteps the Texans have made, and it is their nature to do so, this is all on Watson.

Though he has maintained his innocence, his reckless behavior put him in this situation.

The brilliance with which Watson plays football is in stark contrast to the foolishness with which he played life for the calendar year over which the incidents with nearly two dozen massage therapists occurred.

The pattern displayed in what they described in their complaints and what he has admitted to is disturbing. These weren’t just youthful indiscretions that created a pool of alleged victims.

Watson is fortunate that his perversions didn’t deliver enough evidence to support criminal charges.

The permanent hit to Watson’s reputation and a full year off from football — since he didn’t play last season while serving an unofficial suspension — will not be his only punishment. The 22 lawsuits will cost him money, and there is the potential for an NFL suspension.

Aaron Wilson reporting that Saints are “emerging as serious contenders” for Watson. I believe he mentions the Saints LT, RT, 3 ones, multiple 2s, and other players. Could the Saints and/or Panthers be leveraging Caserio? We will find out soon enough
Well Armstead not on team as a free agent and Ramcyzk just signed new extension and would be a $33 million dead it so---

Now the question is does Watson want to go play in a division with Brady
If he doesn't then the people that believe him to be a competitor at heart are wrong.

Iron sharpens iron. If you play against the best constantly then it could only make you that much better.

Besides, Tom Brady may not be gone now, but unless something happens to Watson... he has longer left in the league than Brady so it's not going to be a career long rivalry no matter where he goes.

If he is afraid to be in the same division as Brady I would be concerned if I were the team trading for him.

I'm in on Davenport but 2022 is last year on contract so we'd need to resign him. Not interested in Onyemata & McCoy is better than what we now have at center Morrisey. Ramzcyk is solid RT but don't see Saints eating that dead money.
Davenport had a lisfranc injury

Offer up the injured.............and they shall come...................

Besides Davenport and his lisfranc................you've got Ramzcyk with his post hip labrum surgery, and now his meniscus and articular cartilage surgery.................and Onyemata with his PEDs suspension last year (probably explaining his calf and hamstring issues the year before that).............and McCoy, who essentially missed 5 games the beginning of 2021 and was dogged by that calf tear the rest of the season.

He‘s already shown he’s a complete quitter.

What more evidence does anyone need?

Pass on all of them but knowing the Texans history of bringing in players coming off ofserious injuries. They’ll take all of those players lol.

Yeah, with the Saints I'd want a 2 for each 1 due to them always drafting on the backside of each round.
