DW4 Traded to Cleveland

Just wondering, would Watson be privvy to unannounced deals?
I'm sure his agent could find out from the team that's trading for him. But, he's not going to drop the NTC then try to nix the deal that team OKs.

A lot of hand wringing here in regards to Watson's potential moves. Remember, Watson wants to move on as much as the Texans want to move on from him. A deal will happen.

Agree.
And this makes me think that the teams the pundits are suggesting are interested are real players.

Watson gonna go where Watson wanna go.

Be happy hes leaving and Caserio is gonna get all he can from whoever wants him. If its NO and Carolina then good. Two division rivals fighting over him.

Yeah why doesn’t the NFL just tell him that they won’t suspend him but the ball is in his court as he always wanted it. The Texans, in partnership with the NFL have offered you a contract and you accepted it within the terms of the contract. If you won’t honor your contract fine but the Texans can suspend you without pay…breach of contract. Your contract never gave you the future right to choose your GM and HC. if you want to get paid in the next few years it’s up to you. Agree to any trade they make otherwise sit for a few years. you can sit on your NTC but at your expense. Bye bye.
Unfortunately, NFL teams have no power to suspend a player. That move is reserved for the NFL only.

Randy Gregory lost a year of his contract to suspension in 2017.
Apples to oranges. Gregory was a repeat offender for banned substances.

Has there been someone suspended with accusations that haven’t come to fruition? The fact the DA couldn’t even get charges brought, and there seems to be very little evidence of a crime, I don’t think Watson is at that high of risk for a lengthy suspension. 6 games at most and I doubt it’s that many.

I am with Lucky. I see this trade coming down by weeks end, and possibly as soon as tomorrow. I imagine Nick is busy fielding calls as we speak. If we get 3 firsts and a couple of other assets/picks, I would be a very happy camper with the haul. Then NC has to hit on those picks. That’s always the key as draft picks are unknown quantities.

I really thought the Phins would get back in but it appears they are a dead phish. As such, watson has zero choice but to open up his NTC to other teams. And I think he will. 2022 vs 2021 is a whole different kettle of dolphins. I’m surprised the Saints are this serious due to their cap issues, but guys with high cap hits could be moved as part of the deal, or part of other deals, contracts can be restructured, guys can be released, etc. if they want him bad enough they will find a way.

but at this point I view the Panthers as the favorites, with Seattle, NO, and Tampa hot on the trail and probably in that order. To me those are the leaders in the clubhouse. There are at least a half dozen other teams that could join the fray if they so choose and if they want in, they need to be on the phone with Nick asap.

He will be suspended 6-10 games and after appeal will sit 4-8 games IMO. Would make the NFL look bad if they don’t suspend him. Won’t affect teams trading for him IMO. Looks to be a bidding war building. The bigger the haul and the sooner it happens the better for us so we can move on from him.

This is where Caserio should play hardball

I've seen this stated by multiple posters. None have explained how that influence would be exercised.
Well I heard he suppose to visit the teams that are bidding for him. Therefore, it’s a good chance he will ask what their plans on acquiring him. At the point he might tell them that’s too much. And that he doesn’t want any team giving up a lot of assets to acquire him.

You might want to go back and read the question I was responding to.

Carlinona throw us their #6 this year, 2 more future ones and some players and future 2/3s… yep that’ll be hard to beat
I can see Panthers multi billionaire owner David Tepper telling Watson you & your lawyer just take care of the civil litigation and
I'll handle the PR end of it by oh for example for openers maybe writing a personal check for a million or whatever bucks to the ME-Too_crowd.

DAT’s DAVIS: Saints Split Their Fanbase With Recent Deshaun Watson News. Is Watson The Right Decision?

As it currently stands, the NFC is as wide open as it’s ever going to be. Given the recent departure of Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, & the Dallas Cowboys making some rather questionable moves on offense with trading wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns in favor of extending wide receiver Michael Gallup, the only real contenders in the NFC that can be seen as ready to win now are the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, & the Green Bay Packers. Watson would be inheriting a top tier defense in the New Orleans Saints, wide receiver Michael Thomas, a top five offensive line when healthy, and a proven coaching staff with a front office that will do everything in its power to put him in the best position to succeed.

On the flip side, what would the Saints be giving up in order to get Deshaun Watson? The contract of Watson isn’t something of a problem for the team, as they will be able to fit him underneath the cap, but what about draft picks? Potential players? The Texans were last reported to have wanted three first round picks & more in return for him. They would be taking quite the risk for a player that hasn’t played in a full season. Some out there will argue that it worked out well for the Bucs with Brady, and the Rams with Stafford.

In the sense of the Rams, I can understand the point as the Los Angeles Rams haven’t had a first round pick in close to five years. They gambled multiple picks in acquiring Matthew Stafford, and it paid off. With the Tampa Bay Bucs, multiple offensive playmakers came solely because they wanted to play with Tom Brady: Leonard Fournette, Rob Gronkowski, & Antonio Brown being the biggest, and who made the biggest contributions to their postseason push to win the 2020 Super Bowl. I can’t see many free agents wanting to come & play for Deshaun Watson. Furthermore, asking all Saints fans to just overlook the fact that Deshaun Watson had 22 women come out with accusations against him is much easier said than done. While Watson is innocent in the eyes of the law, many people have their own strong opinions and judgments about him.

“Saints trading for Deshaun Watson would be a slap to the face of every sexual assault survivor in their fanbase. Obviously and disappointingly that’s a price they’re willing to pay.” John Sigler of TheSaintsWire tweeted on Sunday.

Some have also come out with a point of saying that it would be a locker room distraction. There is a possibility of that happening, but I do not agree on this particular point. Do I believe that all of the Saints players will be happy to have Deshaun Watson? No, but the culture and leadership currently in the Saints locker room (Dennis Allen, Cam Jordan, Demario Davis, & Malcolm Jenkins) would keep everyone in line, and focused on the ultimate goal of bringing a Lombardi trophy back to the city of New Orleans.

As for me, I am standing by my choice of the Saints bringing back Jameis Winston, as I believe he is just as talented as Deshaun Watson, will be cheaper coming off an ACL/MCL injury, will have more picks and players to work with & build around Winston, and understands the Saints offensive system which is a big advantage to have if you want to get around having your quarterback go through a learning curve. One thing can be said for certain, and that’s that Saints fans everywhere better strap in tight. It’s going to be a wild ride.LINK

That’s not the way this works. That’s a guaranteed lowball offer. Exactly what is the incentive for a team to make an aggressive offer if they don’t have to.

They won't know which other teams are trying to negotiate or which teams Watson waived the ntc for, or might waive it for in the future?
