I was ready to jump on the administrator (aka File Clerk) in getting fleeced and played by some real professionals. However somehow, someway, something tells me it was Game Boy who jumped on the Browns first low-ball offer and had no interest in negotiating. Game Boy just wanted Watson out of here.
 
For those wondering how Cleveland has cap space, with the reworked contract, they can make his cap hit for 2022 whatever they want. They're not taking on the $35MM cap hit under the old contract.

because we already have 2 3rds this year... and, a 3rd and 13th overall are probably a higher combination of 1st round picks that we will have... so, it makes sense to spread out the picks.

he should of told Watson before this started that he needs a list of teams he would wave that NTC for. Then he should of took the highest bid from that list. Why the hell did he let Watson have the right to negotiate anything? This is flat out a case of piss poor management.

Well since you moved it at 4PM there has been 17 posts. It's dying a slow death, bleeding out. Regardless it was a really bad move. I mean for a week it has everyone on edge and you couldn't wait an hour much less a day with a full house of viewers? Really?

Goodell would have to be upset that Watson is trying to make a mockery of the suspension punishment. With this statement from the NFL, it would not surprise me if he countered Watson's game with a game plan of his own. The CBA does not specify when a suspension needs to be assigned. That suspension could somehow potentially be manipulated into 2023, especially if the civil proceedings are still alive through this season.

It would be nice justice if his suspension starts right when the Browns play their first playoff game (if they qualify next season) then continues into the following year when his roster salary increases significantly.
 
As it always is, it comes down to money….but there’s no doubt in my mind that restricting the flexibility of NTC’s will be targeted in the next collective bargaining talks. A place to start: a player can’t exercise the clause if he’s under ANY type of investigation by the NFL or any other authority.
 
You know , I have a feeling when all this is over, civil suits and suspensions. Within a couple of years he screws up again, may not be the same mistake. probably will be worse.

To me, Goodell should be mad at the Browns. They’re just as much part of the chicanery. If I were Goodell I’d suspend Watson indefinitely after they trade Mayfield.

& when I say indefinitely I mean minimum 3 years
