College Football Random Thought of the Day

Give Fritz some time.

He's a good HC.

Fritz is going to have to do better with his recruiting than a crop of 3 or no star signees if he’s going to compete in the BIG 16.

This Cougars team has to do better in landing some of the local top talent. Their marketing obviously sucks b/c the City of Houston and UH campus are pretty awesome….with the Texans, Astros, Rockets, and music scene.

Give Dana some time...... Give Major some time.... (I swear I forgot he even existed) Give Tom some time... Wait! Where did he go?....

I've been giving UH some time my entire adult life. I don't got that much time left so they're going to have to do without my attention going forward. I'm sure they'll be fine.

Well you did have the Briles/Herman era,

Hicks, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound defensive back from Georgia's Carrollton High School, is the No. 19 prospect in the ESPN Junior 300. He is Texas' third ESPN 300 pledge in the 2026 cycle, joining No. 2 pocket passer Dia Bell and four-star wide receiver Chris Stewart. Hicks held nearly 40 Division I offers and picked the Longhorns over Georgia, Ohio State and USC.

The Longhorns recorded a scorching month of August in the 2025 class, landing pledges from five-star defender Jonah Williams (No. 8 in the ESPN 300), top wide receivers Jaime Ffrench (No. 17) and Kaliq Lockett (No. 23) and four-star offensive tackle Nicolai Brooks (No. 129) in the span of 24 days. Texas added another ESPN 300 prospect Saturday when four-star defensive tackle Myron Charles (No. 166) flipped his commitment from Florida State to the Longhorns. As of Thursday, Texas' 2025 class sits at No. 7 in ESPN's latest team rankings for the cycle.

PAC 12 should’ve worked on a merger with the MWC. They had 2 schools left in the famed PAC 12 and are facing a full dissolving like the old Southwest Conference.

They’d been better off creating a merger versus plucking 4 teams. 16 schools under a new PAC 16 would look better overall for all involved. Not to mention, in conference games would keep traveling reasonable except for those getting to travel to Hawaii and Hawaii having to travel.

Manning 100% living up to the hype. Ewers could be cringing if he’s out for a week or two and Manning continues his dominance.
Broadcast was talking about Ewers being the Heisman favorite and a possible candidate to go 1.1 in the NFL draft next year. But Arch Manning 100% could keep the job if he continues to play that well. He looks as good as the hype. Arch reminds me of JD McCoy (Friday night lights).

Uh oh.. current round 2 draft pick Ewers leaves game with abdominal strain and Manning in game.
Ewersgoes in the top 1/2 of rd 1 IMHO.

Name 3 QB's that are better than Ewers? He's got all of the tools, he was the Heisman favorite before Saturday happened.

I have seen him from mid round one all the way to top of round two most recently. We all know the premium on quarterbacks so you could easily be correct. I just hope a lot of quarterbacks go top 30 as that will push players down to us at 32.

There will be 3 for sure, maybe more,

Beck/Sanders/Ewers.

Manning may be better than all of them. I look forward to seeing him play against better competition, but right now….he could push Ewers.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Arch Manning threw for 258 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in his first career start at Texas, leading a 51-3 win over UL Monroe in place of injured starter Quinn Ewers to push the No. 1 Longhorns to 4-0.

After throwing an interception on his first possession, Manning settled in, and Texas scored touchdowns on six of his 10 drives for a 44-3 lead when he left the game early in the fourth quarter. The redshirt freshman competed 15 of 29 pass attempts.
