And because of these additional 13 preseason passes, Anthony Richardson is more NFL ready than CJ Stroud.Preseason pass attempts for rookie starters: Richardson 29, Bryce 24, Stroud 16
Stroud's accuracy is what I believe was his strength when I watched his college game tapes.
And because of these additional 13 preseason passes, Anthony Richardson is more NFL ready than CJ Stroud.
Richardson has a lot of amazing things about him. Playing QB in the NFL is not one of them.He has amazing arm strength.
You joke but he went 6/17 for 78 yards his final preseason game. That’s abysmalAnd because of these additional 13 preseason passes, Anthony Richardson is more NFL ready than CJ Stroud.
To be fair watching the game Richardson made a couple great throws that were dropped (partially because he put so much power behind the throw). There's a lot to work on and I don't know if he will be able to make it work but Richardson scares the hell out of me in Indy. You joke but he went 6/17 for 78 yards his final preseason game. I hope you're not implying that that is what I am implying. And because of these additional 13 preseason passes, Anthony Richardson is more NFL ready than CJ Stroud.
That’s called ‘touch’ and that is something that you’re not going to develop overnight. But there is a term that admittedly I haven’t heard used before, and that’s called ‘ball placement’. Up until I’ve been watching Stroud, I would have assumed that ball placement and accuracy was basically the same thing, but they are not.To be fair watching the game Richardson made a couple great throws that were dropped (partially because he put so much power behind the throw). Richardson needs those snaps more than any QB in the universe, if he's going to start games in the National Football Leage. You joke but he went 6/17 for 78 yards his final preseason game. That’s abysmal
I was implying nothing. Simply listing the sample sizes we have of each QB in the preseason.I haven’t had my coffee yet, so ARE you implying?

That deep ball from Stroud down the sideline to Collins was as if he walked up to him and handed it to him.
Well the one pass I was really thinking of actually had to be rifled in there it was a window that was rapidly closing. It was the kind of throw that someone with a more average arm like Stroud shouldn't even attempt WR just couldn't bring it in.That’s called ‘touch’ and that is something that you’re not going to develop overnight. He absolutely has more misses but he's made throws as good or better than any that Stroud or Young have made thus far and Richardson's pocket presence is excellent. It's just the consistency with accuracy that will hold him back. It's an if but if he's able to become more consistent in that regard he will be an absolute terror.Have watched all these youngins in the PS and Richardson by far to me looks the worst. I’m not enamored with his physical gifts b/c i've seen it before. So all I see is a qb with shaky accuracy, 0 touch and ball placement. He’ll definitely need that LJ8 training wheels starter offense for his 1st few years in the hopes that he can grow from that..but i personally don't see him growing as a real passing threat after that. Like VY, He's just the latest version of that kid who has always been the superior athlete on the field and hence always been able to run away from his problems at the position. problem is few are ever able to have that way of playing the position translate all the way up to the NFL. You have to be elite at running the ball and lightening quick...... like Vick & LJ8 were/are for that to be the case....& he ain't that imo.
Huh? LolWell the one pass I was really thinking of actually had to be rifled in there it was a window that was rapidly closing. It was the kind of throw that someone with a more average arm like Stroud shouldn't even attempt WR just couldn't bring it in.
What are you not understanding?Huh? Lol
CJ has plenty of arm strength to make every throw. What are you not understanding?

That's objectively not true. His arm is fine, I don't think his arm is anything that will hold an offense back or anything. But there are absolutely throws that guys like Richardson, Allen, Herbert, Jackson, Mahomes, etc can attempt that shouldn't be on Stroud's radar.CJ has plenty of arm strength to make every throw.
That was a great pass.
The biggest difference between Richardson and Young, Vick, and Jackson is that they were all great college players. Richardson was never great. Occasionally good. Often, not good. But hey, it's just the NFL. He'll figure it out.Have watched all these youngins in the PS and Richardson by far to me looks the worst. Disagree, I’ve watched plenty of his games and he’s money. During the combine they also said he can make EVERY throw. But hey that’s you opinion. That's objectively not true. His arm is fine, I don't think his arm is anything that will hold an offense back or anything. But there are absolutely throws that guys like Richardson, Allen, Herbert, Jackson, Mahomes, etc can attempt that shouldn't be on Stroud's radar.
Here's every pass Richardson has thrown this preseason. Indicate which throws are better than any from Stroud or Young. He absolutely has more misses but he's made throws as good or better than any that Stroud or Young have made thus far
I'm optimistic on Stroud so don't get me wrong but you're denying an objective fact here.Disagree, I’ve watched plenty of his games and he’s money. During the combine they also said he can make EVERY throw. But hey that’s you opinion.
I think the fact Stroud is so good at being accurate and placing the ball at the right places that it seems like his arm is not strong enough. That pass to Collins was perfect.Disagree, I’ve watched plenty of his games and he’s money. During the combine they also said he can make EVERY throw. But hey that’s you opinion.
Here’s Young’s.Here's every pass Richardson has thrown this preseason. Indicate which throws are better than any from Stroud or Young.
The deep ball to Alec Pierce in the Bills game and the throw at 5:02.Here's every pass Richardson has thrown this preseason. Indicate which throws are better than any from Stroud or Young.

A 40 yard incompletion? We were just talking about Stroud dropping it into the bucket to Nico from 45? And what was so special about the play at 5:02? Nearly overthrew the receiver. Maybe the Richardson hype train is still running on the Colts forum? All I'm seeing is a guy who misfires to open receivers. Though, Richadson does throw a nice screen pass. The deep ball to Alec Pierce in the Bills game and the throw at 5:02.
These 2 things could not be more fact. CJ has an ability to do what you said with Nico almost all the time. Right now he is going to have some great times and not so great. However, I think he will be doing more great things in the near future.
I wanted to see Hutchinson yesterday in with Stroud on the first and second series.Agreed but I question the hands and catch radius of Nico and Woods. That’s going to retard CJ’s stats to a degree. I’m not at all impressed with Woods. I think Hutch and Dell are better than these two as we stand here today.
For the most part it's Young dropping back and getting the ball out on time. Carolina can get Andy Dalton to do that. Not enough Bryce magic creating in the backfield to open up receivers downfield. Maybe when it counts? Here’s Young’s.
At the same time, are you ever really ready until it's the real deal? NFL 101 starts on September 10th at noon.Stroud took 40 snaps total in 3 preseason games. That's about two-thirds of what he'll see in Baltimore. At least I hope they have that many plays.
At least he got extra reps against the Dolphins in the joint practices, but man, I just don't know how you get ready like that. For any rookie QB really, not just ours. Preseason sucks.

I will pick accuracy/touch over arm strength every second of every day.Well the one pass I was really thinking of actually had to be rifled in there it was a window that was rapidly closing. There's no reason to question Nico Collins' hands at all. Don't believe he had a single drop last year.Agreed but I question the hands and catch radius of Nico and Woods. And I think Stroud's ball was good but a touch underthrown letting the DB catch up. The play at 5:02 was picture perfect placement. Receiver was covered and he put it where only his guy could make a play.A 40 yard incompletion? We were just talking about Stroud dropping it into the bucket to Nico from 45? As would I just pointing out that having arm strength that leans more towards average will limit some of the plays Stroud can make that's allI will pick accuracy/touch over arm strength every second of every day.
And all Nico had to do was high point the ball. Go up and get it like a boss. And I think Stroud's ball was good but a touch underthrown letting the DB catch up. The play at 5:02 was picture perfect placement. Receiver was covered and he put it where only his guy could make a play.
