CJ Stroud year 2

Agree to disagree

It's not only a qualifying factor, it's a trend.
At the end of the day, you don't like or respect the kid, his agent, family, background or college. All this other outlier and trends stuff is nothing but extra noise and the groundwork to setup an "I told you so".

When in a rabbit hole, stop digging. I'm officially out on this Stroud discussion.

True, but I'm not in the I told you so crowd. I'm in the it's sad that the McNair's are repeating history crowd. Apparently it's a crowd of one around these parts. I guess that's to be expected when you're not on board with everything the McNair's do.

I don't take this nonsense into account. Because it's utter nonsense. Just like I don't take the race of someone into account. Or their religion. Or sexual orientation. Or anything else that is extraneous to football. Here are some legitimate concerns for QB prospects:

Can't make all of the passes required in an NFL offense.
Doesn't read defenses in a timely manner.
Can't make off schedule plays.
Doesn't stand and deliver in the pocket in the face of a pass rush.
Lack of leadership.
Things related to playing QB.

Childhood background is not among those things I've listed as legitimate concerns. Nor should it be.

Obviously you dont take into account history.

And since we’re talking about marketing. What is the best way to market your team? Who is the best marketing executive in the NFL and all of sports? Jerry Darn Jones , what have the Cowboys won in the past 20 years?

You're making my point for me, and although some dont like to admit it, the McNair's operate a lot like Jerrah.

Have faith my friend. Stroud got the best QB coaching anyone can get in college from Ryan Day. Houston has a good OL and a good running game and an already underrated passing game. By the end of the season, ESPN isn't going to be calling Houston's receiving room the worst in the NFL.

Earl I’m going back to my safe haven as well. Better yet I’m going to do exactly what the Texans did. Remove all negative stuff brother. Nothing but positive energy.

Keep up the kool-aid preaching for as long as you can. After a while, you'll be older, grizzled and pissed off most of the time like most Texans fans.

"I remember having a really good camp but they chose Jack Miller and Bryce Young."

Miller was named the backup quarterback to C. J. Stroud as a redshirt-freshman following the departure of Fields to the 2021 NFL Draft. He played in four games following blowout leads. On November 28, 2021, Miller announced that he was leaving Ohio State.[5] On December 21, 2021, Miller announced his commitment to the Florida Gators.[6]

Watch what happens, expect Carr all over again, minus the haircuts. That's when Stroud isn't out marketing his brand himself.

Where is this brand he is marketing? Can I pick it up at Costco?

To summarize why people don’t like the Stroud pick:

1. Agent
2. Rumor Hannah influenced pick
3. Lack of success from OSU QBs
4. Family background (SMH)
5. QBs in draft next year
6. No faith in Texans organization
7. Didn’t win championship
8. Had too many good WRs
9. Attended July 4th party
10. Building brand (still can’t find it)

Does that cover it?

I haven’t heard anything about throwing motion, footwork, accuracy, release, injury history, or any of the normal stuff I would expect to hear.

Hanging out with the wrong people.

Forgiveness and using a high draft choice are two separate things. Carter should have his shot. I just wouldn't risk that kind of draft capital on a player that never owned up to his part of the tragedy and never asked for forgiveness.
Bet on the talent, you have to be able to not only forgive, but be fairly certain Carter has learned a valuable life lesson. There's a reason the Eagles and Chiefs played in the SB. They bet on talent 1st and foremost. Until the McNair's start letting Caserio/Ryans do this then the AFCCG will still be a goal. The 49ers also take shots on guys like this.

It's not really your place to forgive, anyway. Ask the survivor that "neurological damage and severe eye pain, and according to her neurosurgeon, significant damage to the membrane that surrounds the nerves of her spinal cord, which can progress to permanent paralysis."
No it's not my place. Apparently it was Roseman's place.

Performs poorly in big games and under pressure. Also doesn't process quickly and is dumb. Other than the outlier Georgia game. Otherwise this list is spot on and the stuff you listed in the last paragraph doesn't matter because regardless of talent the 1st stuff you listed is far more important to success. IMHO

The stuff you listed in the last paragraph is why he will be a to 15 QB. The stuff you listed in the 1st paragraph is why he will never be a top 5 QB.

All speculation based on your own emotional and personal bias. Clouds sound reasoning and judgment.

Eagles: any number of the Georgia guys

Chiefs: Kelce/Hill/Frank Clark/Peters etc...

49ers: Givens/ Omenihu etc...
The only "Georgia guy" with character issues is Jalen Carter. And he's yet to play a down for the team.

The reasons for the Niners success are taking chances on replacement level players like Givens & Omenihu? Sure.

Hill, Clark, and Peters are out of KC. Not sure getting a positive marijuana test as a 19 year old should put Kelce in the same classification as Jalen Carter.

You have yet to prove your hypothesis that championship teams need to take chances on low character players. And you've preached this for as many years as I can remember.

And you've yet to show that C.J. Stroud is a bad person in any way, shape, form, or fashion. Basically, the overwhelming % of your Texans football posts are wildly inaccurate. But, you keep doing it anyway. History.

Only (2)…..(2) QB’s in NFL history won a CFB Championship and Super Bowl.

Joe Namath: CFB Championship 1964 / Super Bowl 1969 (AFL -vs- NFL) / Drafted RD1-012

Joe Montana: CFB Championship 1977 / Super Bowl(s) 1982, 1985, 1989, 1990 / Drafted RD3-089

The rest of the NFL QB’s couldn’t suck it up and win the big one when it counted most at the CFB level.

I'm not talking about just a NC game. How about a conference championship game?

Like Peyton Manning and Patrick Mahomes?

Cue the outliers response.

How many QB's before them won conference championship games at their respective schools, compared to Stroud at Ohio St. ? I know Fields/Haskins and Barrett won multiple conference titles.

Conference or NC title games. When is the last time a QB not named Stroud didn't win a conference championship at Ohio St.?
Neither Caleb Williams nor Drake Maye have won a conference championship. Both lost in blowouts. If that trend continues to the 2023 season, will these two QBs not be worthy of being selected at the top of the draft? I mean, they will not be big game winners, after all. Kind of a waste waiting for them, then not being draft worthy, right?
