CJ Stroud year 2

How about we give him the benefit of the doubt and hope for the best?
We can always hope in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up the fastest. We've already seen how the people around Stroud operate. Nothing has changed. I'm really against a rookie that hasn't played a down of NFL football thinking about his brand.

He should've already signed his contract and been spending time with his family. I guess you cant see the hypocrisy of claiming family and Christ is everything to him and then spending time with a bunch of Hollywood elites/rappers. I think we've seen this movie before down on Kirby.

There is not a young man alive fresh out of college who would have turned down an invite to hang and party with wealthy elites, football players and even one owner.
Not one!

Yep, that worked out well for Derrick/Johnny Football.

I'm trying to think of a QB that's lived that lifestyle that's been a successful QB?

I can name some great quarterbacks who lived and had fun like this. But what’s the point, you’re stuck with this negative narrative.
So can I, but with today's culture, this is not a good look. We've had one QB whose first priority was not football. It's legitimate to question Stroud's.

How’s this not a good look? He was invited to a really nice party. Only negative people are looking at this the wrong way. This is not a big deal. And no this is not a legitimate to question any player that attended this event.

Shocking post of the day.

Of course it's legitimate to question this, since the same trash that represented the last QB is representing the current QB. I'm just going to sit back and watch the McNair's crap the bed again. It's going to be very entertaining. They're going to get what they asked for, they learned nothing and I don't blame Stroud at all, he is who he is and he's making choices that will probably maximize the money he makes during his career. Is this conducive to winning championships? Nope

Nah, you're never going to sit back and watch... you're on the edge of your pulpit chomping at the bit to say 'I told ya so' :kitten:
There's a difference between saying I told you so and watching the incompetence of the marketing firm that is the Houston Texans. They've learned nothing.

And to think some people wanted to draft a guy running from a scene of the accident but God forbid we take someone who went to a party on the 4th of July.

I would rather he prove himself on the field before doing this kinda stuff. I guess when you hang around the people he hangs around this is to be expected. Style over Substance, this is what the McNair's signed up for. I wonder if he was witnessing the glory of Jesus to those celebs since he's such a big Christian? Wonder how long it will be until he gets baptized in the River Jordan?
This is what the future of @steelbtexan posts will look like??? I think I'll have to pass.
One argument could be that it wasn’t a Fanatics event, that it was Rubin’s private affair. That could be a distinction without a difference. Fanatics is Rubin, and Rubin is Fanatics. Also, if Fanatics footed the bill (and I’d be surprised if it didn’t), that argument collapses.
Stroud, Young, and Richardson already attended a luncheon with Rubin and Tom Brady, where Brady gave the rooks some advice on becoming a NFL QB. Nothing came of that, just like nothing will come of this. Florio must be desperate for clicks to resort to this weak pot stirring.

I want a nice Amish QB. Don’t even want him getting a big head watching film! Just stay on the field throwing that pig skin young man.
I know a good mentor for him:

The Texans will be better than last year, the outlook is pointing upwards.

How much better we'll have to wait, but I'm convinced 7 or 8 wins is within their reach this year if all the new pieces work out.

No the hell it’s not. It’s his freaking off day. Are they at freaking camp dude? Hell no,

Didn't realize one was required to spend with family on July 4th. I went to the Astros game. Guess CJ and I have the same character issues.

Burrow is living that lifestyle. Working out pretty good for him.

i Already pointed out to you that your “football talk” was soon going to revert back to someone’s non football agenda but nooooooo you wouldn’t listen.
No you dint, you insulted me and then tried to rationalize it by saying it was an assumption

Remember there was a QB named Johnny Football that lived this lifestyle. What could ever go wrong?
The difference is Stroud is what alcoholics would call a "normie" and Johnny football.. well, he's one of us.

That and Manziel was never a good NFL QB prospect. Same as Vince Young.. two of the greatest CFB QBs.. Their game didn't translate to the pros.

Lol I didn’t insult you and in any event we are back to the same old same old with a hijacked thread. Before you guys say anything go to the Texans website and read today’s news regarding Stroud. Seems both Demeco and NC were impressed by him pre draft. Post draft he is getting great respect from teammates. Before he is further slammed for attending a party at age 22 that I believe included Tom Brady if I’m reading this thread right read Schultz’s statements regarding his humility and quietness that ends when he steps into the huddle. His humility from what I’ve seen comes from his god. At 22 he seems to me to have a more profound spirituality than middle age folks that talk god but only get out of it a moral high ground from which to judge him severely.

What's wrong with going to that party? I would love to be caught at that party

Back in the day I was the assistant to the assistant store manager at a PayLess shoe store in LA. Hugh Hefner walked in with Barbie Benton. Barbie invited me to the Playboy Mansion 4th of July topless pool party and told me that I could spend the night alone with her in her bed. But I told her no way because I was dedicated to working on my shoe knowledge. That's the dedication we need from CJ!

Well you could have learned all about red high heels 🤷‍♂️

Wonder if his contract with his agent requires him to be marketed at certain events that he can’t control? Hollywood agents do. Call it a form of NIL money. He’s driving a Bentley and bought Mom her first real home and gave all his teammates $500 gift cards with NIL money. Looks classier than a jet ski and massages. He’s 22 and evolving from a poor childhood. I seem to see a little class. Camp reports tell the same story. Humble, team player, wants to learn and get better every day. I’m not afraid to be wrong but I think he’s going to surprise some people. Not me. If you see a parent fail it Can be a motivator. It was. He loves his dad and reconnected with him in prison while at OSU. That’s mature family IMO. He could have been partying with the sororities instead. I can’t believe there are those out there that can doubt someone when they are possibly just getting started in a direction the Texans need so badly. Blows me away.

C.J. Stroud's teammates and coaches think the same of him as General Manager Nick Caserio and the front office did when they picked the Ohio State quarterback second overall.

Highly.

Over the course of rookie minicamp, Organized Team Activities (OTAs) and then veteran minicamp, the rookie signal-caller impressed Head Coach DeMeco Ryans, the assistants, and Texans players on both offense and defense.

For Ryans, one of Stroud's most impressive traits was his ability to correct mistakes and improve. Stroud led the offense on a touchdown drive in one practice, just moments after throwing an interception.

"For a quarterback you have to have a short memory," Ryans said. "You can't let one bad play become three bad plays, right? To see him and see his resolve, the way he was able to come back, compete, drive the offense down for a touchdown there at the end of practice – that was pretty cool to see."

Quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson is "excited" for Stroud's future and explained what the Texans' goals were for Stroud in May and June.

"We just want him to be comfortable and confident in what we're asking him to do," Johnson said. "We just want him to be the best version of himself. That's what the spring is about: getting reps and learning the system."

According to running back Devin Singletary, Stroud picked up offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik's system rapidly, and wasn't daunted by the jump from the Big 10 to the NFL.

"Man, he's bright," Singletary said. "It's a lot as a young quarterback, coming in and learning a new offense – coming in here with grown men, coming from college. You're looked at as a leader out the gate. But he's handling it well."

Like Singletary, tight end Dalton Schultz is a veteran who joined the Texans from a 2022 playoff team. Singletary was a Bill last year, while Schultz played for the Cowboys. Schultz echoed Singletary's thoughts, and said a switch gets flipped with Stroud when he steps foot on the field.

"His attitude and demeanor are kind of understated at times and he walks through pretty humbled like head down, soft voice but you start to interact with him and the kid just oozes confidence," Schultz said. "The kid is a baller."

There's a difference between hanging with the crowd he was as a purported family man in a different state and you taking in a baseball game and you know this.

Was Burrow there. I know he was wise enough to hire an agent that didn't have him doing this crap before he took his 1st NFL snap or worse before he signed his 1st NFL contract. Like I said before we've been through this before and I've learned to laugh at the people who are unable to learn from past experiences down on Kirby.
