That huge market for Stroud was what I was hoping caserio would explore. However either it did not exist or Nick was convinced that if there was a market he should just keep Stroud.
I think he was joking because everyone on here knows who I wanted them to draft. And that was either Stroud or Young. Mainly Stroud. You must have me confused with someone else. I did briefly back off of him after the S2 release and the agent controversy, but it didn’t take but a day or two for me to simply go back to where I was after the Georgia game. I had Young as 1A and Stroud as 1B… just a tick or two behind Bryce. I am not a fan of Levis and was opposed to the Texans drafting him.
For me there was always Young and Stroud and I don't think the Texans would have lost out either way.I just want you to know, leading up to the draft I was the only person here that wanted the Texans to draft Stroud. Texanballer, Lucky, Porky...those guys said the last thing they wanted was the Texans to draft Stroud. They were on the Levis train. Good thing none of those guys are the GM.
Jared GoffNice fluff piece, but not sure I agree with this statement:
"I'm just affirming the narrative that Keenum's best asset is his mental game and how he has been a huge aid to young quarterbacks in his career."
As a vet and having been on several teams, he's an asset to have from an experience perspective. But what young QBs has he mentored? Haskins? Mayfield?
well that's a glowing recommendationJared Goff
I was just joking with some of the guys here. I really liked Hooker at the back of the second round and thought the Texans could maneuver their way to drafting him there. There were a few people here that liked Hooker and felt he would be a first round pick. I didn't think he was a first round pick only because of the knee and his age. The talent is there. For me there was always Young and Stroud and I don't think the Texans would have lost out either way.
I'm not sold on Richardson regardless of how fast he is.
Levis was less impressive to me.
Honestly, my favorite QB was Hooker out of Tennessee, but with the knee injury he wasn't going at the top.
As with all things, time will tell who was the better QB. Heck, they could all bust out just as easily.
I think I’m the only one who wanted Levi’s.I think he was joking because everyone on here knows who I wanted them to draft. And that was either Stroud or Young. Mainly Stroud.
I think I’m the only one who wanted Levi’s.
Jared Goff
Once again, you're incorrect about the facts.Keenum had tolled two seasons in the league and got called out of a deer stand for two games in another. A total of 15 career starts going 5-10 before Goff was drafted. What exactly was he mentoring him about?
Once again, you're incorrect about the facts.
Keenum had spent a year on the PS in 2012 before getting his starts on 2013.
He went 2-0 in 2014.
He then upsurped Nick Foles and went 3-2 in 2015 (could have been 4-1).
Foles was 4-7 for the same team.
With the Rams in 2016, he went 4-5 while Goff finished the season 0-7.
But let the horse says it.
https://theramswire.usatoday.com/20...esota-vikings-jared-goff-case-keenum-week-11/
Work ethic is the main thing Goff said he learned from Keenum.
And I'm sure he learned that going winless as a first-time starter does not define one's career.
Didn't want to draft a QB, but wanted Young/Hooker/Levis if forced to draft a QB.
That hooker ain't young...So you wanted a young hooker wearing Levi’s. Kinky.
Compared to me?That hooker ain't young...
What exactly did I say that was incorrect?
Did he not toll two seasons? You don't toll a season on the PS. You don't toll a season being on a roster for two games.
Did he not go 5-10 as a starter before they drafted Goff? Pretty sure your numbers match mine.
Once again, you're incorrect about the facts.
Or do you simply like to move the goal post just for the fun of it?
Don't forget that I warned yaYou are the one who stated I was incorrect about the facts. I stated two facts:
1. Keenum had tolled two seasons in the NFL before Goff was drafted
2. Keenum was 5-10 as a starter before Goff was drafted
You have yet to show how these two facts are not correct.
Then you went on a tangent about all of the ways Keenum learned things.
So who is moving the goalposts here?
Oh, and the only thing mentioned by Goff was a strong work ethic. Nothing mentioned about how to play the QB position, learn a system, be a leader in the locker room or navigate the waters of being a starting QB in the league. He's a hard worker that overcame adversity. Straight from the horse's own mouth.
I never said tolling for two seasons is incorrect. You are the one who stated I was incorrect about the facts. I stated two facts:

I said you're incorrect about the fact that a season on the PS and two seasons going through TC (plus additional time on the Rams PS besides the two games with the Texans) do not count as experience.
You didn't read the article very carefully.
This is the complete quote from Goff:
“There’s so many things I learned from him on and off the field,” he added. “I think the number one thing that he kind of imparted, he wasn’t super highly touted coming out of college and he made his career by working hard. That hard work is something I tried to grasp as much as I could and pick up little pieces here and there. So, I think that could be one thing that I learned him for sure is his work ethic, everything he’s gotten in this league I think he’s earned and fully deserves.”
.....
Work ethic wasn't the only thing that Goff learned from Keenum; it was just one of many things.
I'm not making up anything.Except I never said a season on the practice squad doesn't count as experience. You are making up arguments.
Goalposts, moved.
Read whatever you like. And it was the only one he could articulate with actual words and examples...

They knew what they were getting in bed with. Some in Stroud camp allegedly not happy Texans drafted him.
Read whatever you like.
You ask what can Keenum teach Goff.
Goff said: "I learned so many things from Keenum, both on and off the field".
....
If you want clarification, go ask him.
I'm out of this.
I'm not making up anything.
Did you or did you not trying to downplay the two seasons that Keenum was not on the active roster for extended time or the 2012 season (by never even mentioning it?)
That part was never the goalpost, I even said so in my first post.
It was not my goal post; how can I even move something that I didn't even put there?
Stop making me laugh
You tried to make it sounds like Keenum only have two seasons in the NFL, how and what can he possibly mentor or teach Goff.
I will stop responding to this part.
Nice try. You did good. Back to Keenum…Stroud, Young, Richardson and Levis listening to Brady.
Nice try. You did good. Back to Keenum…
At this point can we just have a Keenum thread for the rest of us to ignore?
You're making stuffs up.You seem to be the one reading into Goff's words.
I don't try to interpret what he said. I can simply go off of the exact words he did say.
He had a chance to expound on what made it great working with Keenum.
He said he the top thing he learned was the value of working hard and overcoming adversity.
He mentioned nothing else.
It would be foolhardy for anyone to attribute anything else to his statement than what he actually stated.
Words matter. He chose his words. I have to take him at his word.
You keep on beating a dead horse.I said nothing other than at the time Goff was drafted, Keenum had been on the active roster for enough games in two seasons to get service credit.
He tolled two seasons. He had a 5-10 record.
You seem to be interpreting what I didn't say into some attack on Keenum.
How you choose to interpret and respond to that is your issue, not mine.
I'm simply stating facts.
I thought we had 2 over the last decade?Nice try. You did good. Back to Keenum…
At this point can we just have a Keenum thread for the rest of us to ignore?
You're making stuffs up.
It was just a quick interview ahead of the Rams-Vikings game to talk about general things leading up to the game.
It was not an indepth interview to talk about Goff's career.
Many QBs even came out to say that it's not their job to mentor the rookie (like Aaron Rodgers).
For a guy (Goff) to say that much about his predecessor (Keenum) speaks volume.
But you don't even want to believe what Goff said; I have nothing further to add.
Just admit that as an Aggie, you have this anti-Keenum bias and move on.
I'm not wasting my time.
You keep on beating a dead horse.
I, like everybody else, knew that Keenum only had two official seasons.
Nobody was disputing that fact.
I was simply adding that it doesn't mean Keenum only had two years of experience in the NFL.
That would be guys like Davis Mills.
You never mention that fact in your original post; otherwise, I wouldn't have to brinh it up.
Try#2. I'm still trying to figure out how did Travis Scott get in a photo with the NFL rookies and Brady.Nice try. You did good. Back to Keenum…
At this point can we just have a Keenum thread for the rest of us to ignore?
I asked why was he even there trying to give advice. LolTry#2. I'm still trying to figure out how did Travis Scott get in a photo with the NFL rookies and Brady.
Brother already. lol and even then we’ll still see some of the same chatter.Man the season can’t start soon enough.![]()
