CB Ramsey is asking for a trade

Not picking on you but that may be easier to say than to do. If interested give me your ideas on whom they could cut or trade. This is part of football that I also truly enjoy. As I posted before Marcell Dareus would be a candidate to help in this area. . He is due 22.5 million dollars next season. That takes care of Yannick for me with some going to reduce the $10 m in the red. That's why I have been focusing on Ramsey. His cap is 7.5 million 2019 and GM could use the 9 million cap space now to get him in the range Ramsey wants to be. If it were not for the dispute with GM Caldwell I think this would have been put together already.

I hadn't looked up the entire roster and what each guy gets paid. I'm just telling you how you'd likely have to do it if you wanted him and how to make him fit. You'd likely have to lose something. I do think Ramsey is a talent where you'd be okay taking the risk.

So with all of Ramsey's antics does he get paid while he is basically pulling an Antonio Brown on this team now? Making up new injuries or illnesses daily and then bailing off away from the team.

Seems to me that the NFL has a duty to make sure guys like this don't get paid at all and should be punished. If he wanted to hold out, he should have done that before the season.

In college if a player starts pulling all of this crap and wants to play for other schools, he has to sit out a year. Funny, that the NFL hasn't at least discussed a rule like this yet for special cases where a player is going berserk in a locker room just to get himself traded to a better team. Holding out before the season and allowing your agent to negotiate with the team before and during the start of a season is one thing and understandable in cases. Coming out of nowhere in mid season and refusing to show up at practice and creating phony injuries every other day while making public demands for trades is going down a different ally to me. A player that does that is not honoring their contract, and should have to sit a season if they want out that bad. It isn't fair to certain teams that honor their contracts to have to deal with a great player who all of a sudden goes postal just to get out of there to a point where they can't even have that player around like with the Antonio Brown debacle. The player hurts their own trade value in the process and the team really gets the short end of the stick in most cases.

I expect him to ultimately get paid like one of the top few cornerbacks in football, by whomever, and get back to balling the f*ck out.

Ramsey has been ruled out this week........will be seeing a back specialist. This is most likely a move to avoid being penalized for feigning injury..........a move commonly made in workman comp cases where the specialist can only rule in pathology, but cannot ever say they can entirely rule out pathology in cases of feigning.

.. and then?
Something to read into or just a friendly visit?

Out with a back injury, Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey didn’t travel to Carolina on Sunday. But he also didn’t stay in Jacksonville.

Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has posted on Instagram of photo of himself with Ramsey. So either Watson traveled to Jacksonville after his game against the Falcons (unlikely) or Ramsey traveled to Houston for Sunday (more likely). Sitting between Watson and Ramsey is agent David Mulugheta, who told multiple reporters 20 days ago that Ramsey wants out of Jacksonville......

A. Jags aren't going to trade him to someone in their division.
B. Texans don't have the draft picks to trade.

Close the door on the dreams.
Maybe he doesn’t get traded and will get franchised instead. Then when have the draft capital to trade for him. My understanding is 1st round franchised players usually demand a 3rd round pick. Plus, the Jags could pay half his salary. And we only have to trade them two corners with as much talent as a Petey Faggins.

Championship!

No chance.

No probability what so ever to that.

I guess you missed Point A as well.

As Ramsey is under contract through 2020 he could not be franchise until the end of that season. Do the Texans have veterans that could be offered in trade for Ramsey? It would be expensive even if they agreed to it.

I think this forum is for the knifemaking trade. But try posting in the For Sale area, you might get some bites there. Good luck.

Ramsey was done even pretending to be there. Now they secure some more horses for the future in the middle of a meh season. I get that.

And the Rams swing wildly to help a middling pass defense that just lost Talib. Eh, not sure, but ok.

I think I really like this new hot stove NFL.

pretty close to the Tunsil package. Ramsey is the better player, but cbs are much easier to sign in free agency than LTs. It seems like the nfl gets more open to trading premium picks for premium players...

it will be interesting to see all those teams with lots of picks in the future...
Yea Ramsey is a better player who's also at a very high value position but not as valuable and strategic as LT.
The Rams are of course considered to be an up an coming young NFL organization so this move to trade multiple 1st round picks for Ramsey
represents an implicit endoresment of the Texans very aggressive move to make the deal for Tunsil.

Elite level CB's are harder to find than good protection guys on the Oline. Way easier actually. I wouldn't call this any sudden wave of teams giving up premium picks for premium players either. OB made a panic move because he figured his job would be gone if he didn't have at least adequate protection and put the franchise's future at risk as far as building up their defense and other positions that will become holes. Other than that you have this Ramsey trade where it really isn't all that surprising based on how young he is and his physical abilities that are very rare compared to other elite CB's.

What's odd is how no one has a problem with a player basically pulling a TO in mid season without any warning at all that he was going to do this and forcing his team to trade him and he ends up on a good team who will pay him a lot when he should have been punished by the NFL for conduct and not performing under his contract.

I hope he tears his ACL personally. Guys like this are terrible for the league. He basically pulled a Jimmy Butler when he went full Toddler on the Timberwolves. The fact that these owners keep losing all of their supervision on their league and on their teams is a bizarre thing to watch. These guys are so old and rich that they all lost a backbone it seems. Just 12 years ago when guys like TO and Keyshawn Johnson pulled crap similar to this, their GM's and HC's sent them home and they were humiliated. Now days these owners and GM's bend over and give in to demands and these wimpy NFL fans are to weak to even criticize them for their actions that tend to destruct a lot of teams without warning. **** Ramsey.

C'mon Tex wake up friend !
The Houston Texans had a much more compelling need to find a LT to protect the blind-side of their franchise QB.
Good as Ramsey might be he couldn't help the Texans with that task, only a LT like could. Therefor for the Texans and others the LT position is only less important
than the QB himself.

What is to stop Ramsey from pulling this stunt again with the Rams down the road?

His actions speak volumes and are most likely a deep look into his character as a person and player.

No amount of talent in the world makes up for low character. Just ask Antonio Brown.

No one in the history of the NFL has gotten themselves raped that hard on a trade for a LT.

You can't call OB dumb as hell for months and years and then turn right around and not question his judgement on a trade like that. The Texans got to the playoffs and went on a 9 game winning streak last season with that garbage Oline. One of the reasons why the Oline was so bad was because the Texans didn't have a first round draft pick last season to use on one. Now they'll have the same problem filling holes for pass rushers, DB's, and other lineman that they'll likely need in the future. You have to understand the value of draft picks and the lower salary cap you get them at.

the Watson effect

“Jalen didn’t see winning in the near future” lol all because of Dw
His last play this season was on a catch Hopkins made but Ramsey thought he trapped it & tried to get his coach to challenge. He got all mad.

& here we are.

I heard that's why Luck retired and it's rumored that Foles broke his own collarbone for the same reason.

Pretty sure Mariota is also tanking on purpose just to avoid the competition.
How long before Mahomes demands a trade to the NFC? I give him by the end of the season.

They're all snake bit. :elmo:

Not an O'Brien fan here so I could care less how dumb you think he is so I just know we needed to protect Watsons azz and I'm glad we finally have a LT for our
young QBs backside protection.

He will be fine playing in L.A. for Wade

He like many players got sideways with Coughlin.

Most times when you trade for a top player at his position in the prime of his career something like this is the reason he's available. That's the risk, but Wade has worked with many like Ramsey over the yrs.

Imagine if Wade was allowed to be given this type of talent thru trade when he was with the Texans org.

You mean like Marcus Peters, whom the Rams just gave up on?

Imagine if Wade was allowed to be given this type of talent thru trade when he was with the Texans org.
In the 3 years Wade was DC, the Texans had 6 picks in the 1st two rounds. Can you guess how many of those players were on the defensive side? FIVE! And the three largest FA acquisitions during the Wade tenure were Jonathan Joseph, Danieal Manning, and Ed Reed. ALL defensive players.

The Texans FO invested heavily in defensive talent during Wade's tenure.

You also need to factor in that trades weren't as prevalent back then as they are today.

Historically (iirc), Wade's defenses tend to take a step back in year 3. This season will be interesting to see if that trend continues, especially with arguably two of the best defenders in the league right now.

If the Rams go 7-9 and miss the playoff (quite possible with the Seahawks and 49ers playing lights out right now), will Ramsey be content as a team player? I give it 50/50 chance based on his recent history. Just don't let him interview with GQ in the meantime.

LOL....Because NO ONE trades 24 year old Franchise LT's that still had 2 years under his contract. Bet you can't find 1 at that age or at his level.

LT was much more important than a CB for the Texans.

And the results when he was added to Howard and Scharping, have been GREAT. Roderick Johnson can hold down the fort until Howard comes back.

The problem in your response is that you clearly don't understand value in players contracts like this.

A. He isn't going to play under that for two years so your statement there is false. He'll hold out before he does that and rightfully so he should.
B. That wasn't the only way to try and get good results for this team. They were just a division winner and a playoff team last season.

Your response totally ignored the future ramifications of trying to improve other positions that will become needs which some already are. It also ignores the more difficult salary cap situation once we extend him and Watson when the Texans were easily in a position to build a very young and strong Oline on the cheap if they wanted to.

I also never once claimed that LT wasn't more important. That was never part of the discussion.
