The end?
wow, i was extra hammered in that exchange. i need some kind of drunk restriction that keeps me from posting after midnight lol.
I thought he looked pretty good. Got the team in & out of the huddle efficiently, got them lined up right, ball snapped on time. Didn't make any stupid mistakes with the ball, didn't let his frustration get the better of him. Things weren't going his way & he didn't lose it.
I'd have liked to see him in that hopeless situation a bit more. But whatever.
It's still the preseason guys. What we're seeing isn't real? We should temper their effects on our opinions. If you didn't know any better, Shilo Keogh should be starting on half the teams in the league.
British : a buyer of worn-out domestic animals or their carcasses for use especially as animal food or fertilizerRight now OB is looking more like a QB knacker than whisperer.
Keenum looked bad last night because ...
Because he's bad. That's why he looked bad. Elegant in its simplicity.
Yeah this is horrid. If this is what the "vets" are going to bring just give Savage the whole season to prove they shouldn't take a QB in the 1st next year.
This really is looking like a train wreck. Let's start Fitz for 6-7 games and then finally demote him and give Keenum 6-7 games to get a fair chance and then with nothing on the line throw Savage out there for 2-4 games and not get a decent look at him. Not impressed with OB on this one although I approve of not forcing a pick if they didn't like a QB earlier.
Keenum had a couple of good plays in there - and his protection wasn't very good. But he hasn't show BoB anything to get that #2 spot. His only good news could be, that Savage didn't either (outside of that one drive). If he gets cut, he should look at noone but himself to blame.
Keenum's not as bad as the shrill anti-Keenum camp. And any assertion that he has a noodle arm kills any credibility you might have had on the topic. He doesn't have a cannon, but he's not Chad Pennington out there (or Schaub these days).
I don't think Keenum's good. He's done nothing to take the bull by the horns at all. I've said all along I want him to win the job. I never wanted him to be given the job. I wanted a competition. Well, despite the fact that no one has really competed against him, he lost. So that's on him.
The saddest part of all this is I don't believe Fitzpatrick is better than Keenum, which is awful. And Savage is not as good as either of them, though he might have some upside to develop. It's going to be a long season.
I don't know what OB told him so I don't know what OB thinks of him right now. I wouldn't be surprised if OB saw exactly what he wanted & decides to start Keenum week 1. I also wouldn't be surprised if he cuts Keenum this morning.
Then again he's been saying Fitzpatrick is his starter & I'll truly be shocked if that is the case.
There's been nothing this preseason to separate any of these guys as the starter, one way or the other he's going to have to find a way to win regardless.
I don't think Fitzpatrick is better than Keenum.
I don't think Keenum is better than Fitzpatrick.
Keenum's arm isn't noticeably stronger than any of the 2 guys you named...Sure, the ball looks prettier coming out of Keenum's hand than the other 2, but it ain't coming much if any more harder than Schaub or Pennington's. All of them are all along the "average" line.

I agree.
Eerily similar to your avatar cult.
Keenum looked bad last night because the QB and WR's didn't seem
to be on the same page (that receiver wasn't even looking for the ball
on that INT)
Also, that line stunk. God help us when the regular season starts
and the defenses we are facing actually run stunts and blitzes and
try to confuse fitz.
It could get ugly really quickly.
I would not be surprised if all 3 QB's play sometime this season because
of injuries at the QB position

Most of us in the "Keenum Cult" are not blind to his inadequacies, I certainly am not. And I most certainly haven't given up hope that he'll somehow "get it", and become Da Guy. Do not mistake hope for blind fandom.

I can't see how anyone can chose Fitzpatrick over Case. & I don't consider myself a Case fan. I argued with those who failed to see his limitations last season.
I wanted the Texans to bring someone in for Case to compete with, someone he could beat... I thought Fitzpatrick was setting the bar too low.
But OB never hinted at a competition, or that Keenum was threatening Fitzpatrick or even improving in the slightest. Instead he is barely ahead of the rookie who has very little playing time over the last three years.
The deck was stacked against Keenum when a QB was drafted in the 4th round. Case had to show he was significantly better than that guy, and he hasn't. Is he better? Probably. Is he significantly better? No. He will be cut because of it. It may not be fair, but this is the NFL. There is no such thing as fair in the NFL, whether that be officiating, drug policy, ticket prices, ticket policy, women's hand bags, etc. etc.
Not sure if this has been posted anywhere here since I just logged on and is trying to play catch up.
Texans will keep the same 3 QBs.

Just a point, but according to OBs presser, that interception Case threw sounds like a mistake by the receiver running the wrong route.

I stand corrected.
TPN, do you have a link?
I can't seem to find one.
I wasn't sure whether Case or Posey made the wrong read.
(on what improvements he thinks the team needs to make) “Situational football, I mean it happened again tonight at the end of the half. We got a chance to drive the ball in two minutes, start the drive with a good screen pass and then had a miscommunication on a route and one guy ran one route, the quarterback threw another route and we had an interception that led to a touchdown. I think offensively we were directly responsible for I think two touchdowns basically. So that’s not good. We have to fix that. That’s something that we’ll continue to try to do and do that throughout next week.”
(on what went wrong on Case Keenum’s interception) “I don’t know. We’ve just got to get on the same page, get out there tomorrow and do some corrections. We’ll fix it, I haven’t had a chance to see it and I’m pretty sure he hasn’t either, so we’ll get out here and we’ll get it right.”
Looking back, I might have read more into the presser than was there.
OB said this (and some other things):
Then Devier said this:
I thought I had seen something else that pointed to Case making the right decision but I don't see it now. So I could have just been reading something in when it wasn't there.
Based on that ^ there is no indication as to who messed up
This has nothing to do with Savage. I said I don't see how anyone can choose Fitzpatrick over anyone. As much as you hate Case, that's how much I hate Fitzpatrick & that sucker's been in the league for 9 years.
I think the statement was less than definitive. O'Brien said "as we sit here right now..." he did not say Keenum would definitely be on the 53 man roster and that has to mean something. Why be cryptic? Why not just say 'yes Keenum will make the 53 man roster'?
Didn't I say that?
Oh, and beer is now $8 for a 16oz can at Reliant err NRG.
none of above. he will be cut & replaced with Ryan Mallet for a 2nd rd. pick. Garappolo has looked the best of all rookie QB's after everyone has played first pre-season game. Patriots also need to add OL & DL depth, too many question marks to keep three QB's. Texans do not have their QB in camp @ this time.
The ax is in motion..........
read it & weep or can I get you something from the bar![]()
