Broncos - Texans Game Thread

funny thing is that is how the coaches taught me how to tackle.. put your head into the numbers

Yup me to, but if your head is down too far it's then a spearing type of thing. Didn't look like it to me, but the ref saw it that way.

Just out of curiosity, but what was the first team O line looking like? Also who was in what position?

riley-LT
pitts-LG
mckinney-C
Weigert-RG
Wade-RT

hard to tell, the first team didn't play much, but no sacks or hurries on carr and DD ran alright.

92 yard pass on 3rd and 3 by the broncos. man, we really look bad with our 3rd team guys out there.

So its looking more and more like Reily really will be our LT heading intot he buffalo gme?

Crud, mistake in the secondary and Broncos score a 92 yard TD. McKinzie pulls a hammy chasing him from acrosse the field.

Now that sucks. How bad did he pull it? A twingy type pull, or teh full blown Olympic sprinter pull; can't hardly walk type.

Giving up 10 points in the last quarter is not good at all. Granted it is 3rd string and lower, but there might be a time when we have to use a third stringer or lower ont he first team becuase of injury. It is clear that the Broncos have more depth then we do.

way too many false starts on the 2nd and 3rd team Olinemen. nice catch by starling then pitts. ragone leading a comeback?

Just catching up on the game, tivo. Every time I see Bradford, it sure seems his shoulder pads are way to big. Looks like he cant lift his arms, but sure can put a hitting on. Anyone else notice this?

That to me is a scary issue. If something happens an we need to insert a second or third teamer, we might be in serious trouble. If these thord stringers cant play agianst fellow third stringers, imagine them in there against Freeney. I hope our first team is healthy and perfroms well.

bad onside kick. oh well, we can stop the clock twice. may have some time to get it back.

1st down Denver & Houston out of timeouts and a 1:30 left. Unless soemthing strange happens, that should do it.

Let the over-reaction begin??

Everybody step away from teh ledge, it was just a preseason game, the first one at that, they are still aways from playing a game that will count.

I've posted in other posts that I think AJ, Mathis and Kasper are our best 3 receivers at this point in time and I really question the health of Gaffny. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Each of those 3 gives you something very different when attacking the defense. I think DD, Wells and Morancy are the running backs. Of course it looks like Carr is the QB. I'm not certain what we got out of this game. Looks like Swinton was a big looser and others may name some others. Perhaps the D looked OK, but this scrimmage yielded nothing to write home about, except for special teams.

I think some of the overreaction is somewhat justified. While i am not gonna say they will go 8-8(which will be an improvement wuite frankly), i am dissapointed in our depth. When denver played their third string against pur third string it was clear that Denver's team was better. Whiile we will almost never face a gfirst team D with our third string(knock on wood), it is somewhat troublemsome to see that our thirds couldnt hang with Denver's.

Honestly can't remember who the DB was on the coverage. It was one of our CB's that's way down on the list. It was a simple slant, he had good coverage but the receiver broke the tackle and was off to the races. Jammal Lord was in close pursuit but couldn't catch him, and Mckenzy (sp?) pulled his hamstring coming across the field to catch him, otherwise he appeared to be closing.

Could be, but Wand held his own also.

Just got back from the game.

Wand did very well. One pancake block, a couple of times he really stood up the rusher. Allowed his man to hurry the passer once, maybe twice. His man tipped a pass once from about 7 yards away from Banks. Played 2 quarters, pretty much conrtrolled his man.

On the third and goal that they ran left (Wand and Riley both in), Wand pushed his man into the end zone and toward the sideline. Riley was next to Wand, but didn't block anybody. Linebacker on that side stuffed the play.

I'm surprised Riley didn't play more because he is an unproven commodity - especially since his conditioning may be an issue.

I was happy with the game overall.

Our 1st team on offense and defense did great, except the experiment with Robair. But overall I like what I saw. I fully expected Denver to be a very deep team so at that I am not surprised.

Looking good so far.

GO TEXANS!!!

Nice job supporting your team. It's the first preseason game of the year and you've already written your team off. :thumbdown
