I hope we get our 5th pick back or higher.
Cowboy boots for the rodeo.Any info on what we'll get for him?
Tickets for the Dallas rodeo?Cowboy boots for the rodeo.
Another position of high priority in this year’s draft.Glad to see him gone, but now we have ZERO wide receiver threats on the team.
Bijan will take care of two needs and Dell will add another.Another position of high priority in this year’s draft.
It's been on the list for a while, along with practically every other position on both sides. LOLAnother position of high priority in this year’s draft.
Facts! lolIt's been on the list for a while, along with practically every other position on both sides. LOL
Metchie will be in the mix this season.Glad to see him gone, but now we have ZERO wide receiver threats on the team.
Slim pickings at WR this season, unless you like smallish WRs.Another position of high priority in this year’s draft.
I think his ceiling is Cooks!Metchie will be in the mix this season.
Who was saying that now? I think most people paying attention were hoping for a 3rd at best once we screwed up and gave away all leverage by not trading him last year.Wait. I thought we were supposed to get a 1st, or a 2nd, or at least a 3rd according to everyone. Now we are getting 2 bad picks and paying money to get rid of Cooks?
Cooks was a smallish receiver. And Johnston from TCU isn’t smallish, he’s a beast.Slim pickings at WR this season, unless you like smallish WRs.

A better deal was on the table last year. Somehow the deal fell through and it didn’t get done.I think we might have been able to get a better deal.
Cowboys acquiring WR Brandin Cooks in trade with Texans
Brandin Cooks is on the move once again. The Cowboys are acquiring the veteran wide receiver from the Texans in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick.www.nfl.com
True about Cooks. I said slim pickings in the draft, not no pickings. lolCooks was a smallish receiver. And Johnston from TCU isn’t smallish, he’s a beast.
Source?I've said from the jump and I'm not a poster who act like an insider. Cooks could've been a Cowboy last season for a 2nd. Caserio wanted a 2nd and 4th and Dallas to take salary. Dallas balked and now the Texans get trash picks and still paying salary.
I'm no capologist, but that looks like we save $12m...
Im not a big salary cap guy but I don’t think you can eat any dead money the year after cutting/trading someoneWith the restructure, I wonder how much we are eating next season.

You're already assuming these are bad picks? Why the Caserio hate? Now we are getting 2 bad picks and paying money to get rid of Cooks?

I don't think so. The Cowboys did the Texans a solid by taking Cooks before the draft.I think we might have been able to get a better deal.

*BEEP BOOP* FUBAR ALERT!!! *BEEP BOOP* File Clerk *BEEP BOOP*Texian won't like this.
Yeah, this one was predictable and indefensible. Can't help but think Easterbys fingerprints were on this contract.Cooks Dead $$$
2023 - $8.1 million bonus allocation + $6 million salary = $14.1 million
2024 - $8.1 million bonus allocation
Is that a lot of dead money? Yes. It was a bad contract.
I could go cut & paste his last Caserio rant....but I wont. Let him/her have their fun.*BEEP BOOP* FUBAR ALERT!!! *BEEP BOOP* File Clerk *BEEP BOOP*

"You fell victim to one of the classic blunders — the most famous of which is, 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia' — but only slightly less well-known is this: 'Never give a contract extension to a 30-year-old WR'! Texans pay $6M of his $18M. Not too bad of a hit. As I keep scrolling more details to come. Glad to finally get this done.
I think it was $6m of his $18m - $12m saving.Texans pay $6M of his $12M. Not too bad of a hit. As I keep scrolling more details to come. Glad to finally get this done.
Let's hope Nick can remember this. Painful lesson."You fell victim to one of the classic blunders — the most famous of which is, 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia' — but only slightly less well-known is this: 'Never give a contract extension to a 30-year-old WR'! "
Brandin Cooks' two-year contract extension has $36 million guaranteed with $19.8 million maximum average annually.
That’s outrageous for an age 30 & 31 WR. What would Bill Belichick do (WWBBD)?
Not this.
Jack's impact on this franchise will not be forgotten. Can't help but think Easterbys fingerprints were on this contract.
Already fixed.I think it was $6m of his $18m - $12m saving.
Has anyone seen if this 5th round pick is #161 or #169?
If Texans are paying part of that contract they should get more than the Amari dealSounds like similar compensation the Cowboys got for Amari Cooper last season. For Cooper they got two 5ths and a sixth round pick swap. Sounds like a 5/6 round pick for Cooks. You will not get a lot when a player has a terrible contract and throws a hissy fit about wanting to leave the team.
DeMeco gets what DeMeco wants.I've said from the jump and I'm not a poster who act like an insider. Cooks could've been a Cowboy last season for a 2nd. Caserio wanted a 2nd and 4th and Dallas to take salary. Dallas balked and now the Texans get trash picks and still paying salary.
