Sounds like similar compensation the Cowboys got for Amari Cooper last season. For Cooper they got two 5ths and a sixth round pick swap. Sounds like a 5/6 round pick for Cooks. You will not get a lot when a player has a terrible contract and throws a hissy fit about wanting to leave the team.

Who was saying that now? I think most people paying attention were hoping for a 3rd at best once we screwed up and gave away all leverage by not trading him last year.

Brandin Cooks is on the move once again. The Cowboys are acquiring the veteran wide receiver from the Texans in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick.

Cooks was a smallish receiver. And Johnston from TCU isn’t smallish, he’s a beast.

I've said from the jump and I'm not a poster who act like an insider. Cooks could've been a Cowboy last season for a 2nd. Caserio wanted a 2nd and 4th and Dallas to take salary. Dallas balked and now the Texans get trash picks and still paying salary.

A better deal was on the table last year. Somehow the deal fell through and it didn’t get done.
True about Cooks. I said slim pickings in the draft, not no pickings. lol
I wouldn't be butt hurt if the Texans drafted Johnston.

I don't think so. The Cowboys did the Texans a solid by taking Cooks before the draft.

Good riddance! I'm happy to be rid of one of the last vestiges of the BOB/Easterby/Watson nightmare and to get back a 5th rounder, even if it is approximately 24 picks lower (5.161 vs. 5.138).

Cooks has a 2024 cap hit of $24.6M with no dead money for Dallas to worry about. So this may be a one-and-done season trade opportunity for Dallas.
