Is it time to start discussing Bob LaMonte and where he fit's into the mess that is the Houston Texans? It is easy to hate on Jack Easterby and it appears he is fast becoming the "Littlefinger" of the Texans Game of Thrones being played out before our eyes. Is our current predicament the brainchild of Easterby or is there a shadow figure behind the scenes pulling the strings.

I think it is possible, looking at who Bob LaMonte represents, how they all tie into the Texans franchise, it is easy to see how maybe Easterby is just an unwitting tool used to build the pyramid scheme of LaMonte personnel in Houston.

First the villain was BOB. Then Easterby. Maybe LaMonte needs to be scrutinized a bit more..

Bob LaMonte is the President of PSR, having founded the company in 1979. Bob is one of the only sports representatives to have been a player, teacher, coach, agent, and author. Bob has mastered the art of negotiation, and is a true confidante. He has negotiated over $2.2 Billion in professional sports contracts during his career, and fully serves the needs of our clients.
Bob gained experience with athletic pressure as a football player at the University of Santa Clara, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History. That's impressive. Can we stop with the narrative that he is involved in anything? It's as simple as Cal being dumb and allowing Easterby to weasel his way into being a confidant.

Because Easterby pays him, I could get him to represent me to if I go drop his retainer fee. He'd look at me like I'm crazy and possibly have security on stand by but he'd take my money.

Prove it. Easy to do. Just write the company and show me their reply. If it's as easy as you say, then you should have no problem actually backing up your claim.

Otherwise, you come across as nothing but an Easterboy that's grasping at straws contrary to the words of one of the franchise's most respected figures.

btw, Jack is the ONLY character coach in the NFL with an agent (although he's no longer a character coach but an actual front office executive. . .just like the ones that Bob LaMonte represents). But you're apparently the expert, so I look forward to your proof.

Or I could have far, far better things to do than prove something to random guy on a football forum. Question, do you ask everyone that makes any "claim" to prove it or is that just for people that you don't agree with? In fact why don't you prove your claim that he's the only character coach with an agent.

Edit: Also I find it sad that a mod resorts to things like "Easterboy" but then that does explain why so few have any respect for others opinions and posts if that is the example set.

As to your post, ok fine I’ll assume Greg Bedard did his due diligence and actually researched it and isn’t just giving his thoughts because I don’t care that much, still not sure why you do. Oh and if are going to pull from an article then post a link to it so people can read for themselves.

He was part chaplain, friend, confidant, coach and scout, and he connected with a lot of employees and their families. Easterby is universally regarded as a great person who had a real impact on the entire organization.”

But here is the part I don’t understand, let’s say you are right and he does want to be a GM, so what? Pretty much everyone that works in an NFL front office wants to be a GM. Why does him wanting to be a GM bother you more than the other hundreds of people trying to climb the NFL corporate ladder to be a GM?

As good as this guy is at bringing guys where he wants them, why wasn't he hired as GM?
 
So it feels like the Texans are really screwed. If they really believe in one of the clients he represents then that will add fuel to the fire but if they hire someone the players want, the coach will never have the support of the front office

I don't see the two as anything alike. Watson already has his money if he stuck around for a few more years like the article suggests he would be going against his moral values or whatever to play for this 'culture' of the Texans.

Dak doesn't want to leave the Cowboys he just wanted to be paid what he wanted. Now if in a few months that he decides he no longer wants to play for Dallas it will be parallel.
 
I'd assume that Watson wanted to play for the Texans on September 5, 2020, when he signed his extension. The Texans were always going to pay him.

The thing with Dak and the Cowboys always felt (to me at least) that the Cowboys were questioning his worth as it relates to salaries of other QBs his age. I guess they finally figured it out this week, but Dak was sticking to his guns and it was always about the money.

I think the only way that Watson could have used the Dak example is if he did not want to be a Texan and decided to not negotiate.
