Blake Bortles

Somebody's going to have to break this news to her...

[IMGwidthsize=300]http://static03.mediaite.com/sportsgrid/uploads/gallery/bortles-girlfriend/lindsey-duke-ucf-181.jpg[/IMG]

He was talking about a defensive player that produced, but had a bad combine. I thought he was talking about Michael Sam, but Sam didn't have 19 sacks.

Bortles might have had 19 sacks, but I don't think we look at those the same way...

To tell you the truth, I'm responding to this just to look at that picture again

I think that's the biggest mistake teams make is reaching on a QB and throwing him into the fire .

Meanwhile at the ranch Kurt Warner and Tom Brady were backups until the starter got hurt and they never came out .

I'm talking about the teams that consistently do this. Every team makes a bad decision every once in a while.

The difference between the teams that are consistently winning and the teams that are consistently losing is the ability to evaluate talent.

Luck, when preparation meets opportunity.

For me, watching the 'big 3' QBs on Grudens QB Camp, the one that impresses the most sitting in an armchair shooting the breeze is Bortles.

Is Gruden the Next John Madden?

I think he's carved out his own niche...

[IMGwidthsize=400]http://cardinalsportszone.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/john-gruden.png[/IMG]

That ticks me off, does that tick you off cause that ticks me off...

I want to be Johnny Football and you're Johnny Football and now I'm ticked.

Gruden makes an interesting point about not knowing who the top 5 picks were last year, or the year before.

I don't think I know.

Once the teams start playing draft position doesn't matter its all about production.

Blake Bortles working out privately for Cleveland Browns today

"He has all the measurables,'' coach Mike Pettine said at the NFL Annual Meeting last week. "If you look at him, if you said draw me an NFL quarterback, that's probably who you'd draw. I think the thing that's impressive about him is his ability in crunch time in a lot of tight games, a lot of come-from-behind wins, you can see he's confident, can make all the throws, I think he's a better athlete than some people give him credit for.''

Blake Bortles is shutting it down as far as doing any more pre-draft workouts for teams after his upcoming workout with the Browns. -- NFL Live, ESPN

I guess he's going #1 just like Clowney. :kitten:

Smart agents are pulling their guys after Brandon Thomas tore his ACL. There's no provision for recovering his lost $$$ from the workout injury. It's a grey area that will be addressed in the future, but Thomas was looking at 1st round and now he's likely 4th rounder at best.

Takes money out of his pocket now, and potentially diminishes his career earnings potential. All because he was doing pre-draft drills.

Fwiw, Mort said on NFL Insiders yesterday that he expects new #Texans HC Bill OBrien to lean toward "prototype" QBs. Guys who look the part.

Talk about throwing stuff on the wall and hoping it sticks. We are still 3 weeks away and these last few are going to be filled with stuff like this.

It doesn't take a genius to do the simple arithmetic:

Teddy Bridgewater: http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/511614/teddy-bridgewater

vs

Blake Bortles: http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/505719/blake-bortles
Vs

Darek Carr: http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/484080/derek-carr

It doesn't take long to call the roll, Bortles gets beat in almost every instance.

I'm sure you will quickly dismiss all stats or have convenient excuses readily available to discount any and all stats, as is your tendency. You certainly have those prerogatives to do so.

No doubt simple arithmetic was not your favorite subject and as you so perfectly as illustrated, you're not a genius and you didn't do the math. However as a Troll and trolling you pass with flying colors.

I figured you would have convenient excuses readily available to discount any and all stats but instead you went straight for the troll card. As these stats so perfectly illustrate, simple arithmetic is definitely not your strong suit. But, you are a genius at talking out your ass.

Teddy Bridgewater
CAREER STATS
year YDS CMP% TD INT
2013 3970 71.0 31 4
2012 3718 68.5 27 8
2011 2129 64.5 14 12

Blake Bortles
CAREER STATS
year YDS CMP% TD INT
2013 3581 67.8 25 9
2012 3059 62.9 25 7
2011 958 68.2 6 3

Darek Carr
CAREER STATS
year YDS CMP% TD INT
2013 5082 68.7 50 8
2012 4104 67.3 37 7
2011 3544 62.6 26 9

Maybe if you actually looked at the stats instead of spending all day every day searching the internet for select "quotes" to cut and paste that support your simple minded POV you would figure out that stats aren't the answer but only a small part of the equation.

In College you can`t just look at numbers - especially not with just overall numbers. Otherwise guys like Leinart would be all pros. So much factos in with these numbers, who did you play against, what system did you play in, what other players were on your team, what did the coach as you to do.

Bortles is a good prospect. He looks the part, he played his best when the game was on the line and he basically does everything good. The problem I have with him is his "boom-bust" scale. He is raw, so there is a good change he busts. Yet I don´t see him becoming a superstar. Big Ben might be the ceiling and even for that there is perhaps a 10% chance. So I see neither the ceiling nor the floor to justify a #1 pick.

LikeMike gets it! It's one thing to load your schedule with weak sisters and another to play teams like Penn St. and South Carolina. Not to mention that while playing the sister Jane's you're also playing behind the #1 Defense in college football.

Like any QB, Bortles has a BUST factor. Based on his ability to stand in the pocket while under duress and keep his eyes down field and still avoid pressure better than any other QB in this draft, I expect Bortles will be highly successful in the NFL. In particular watch the SoCaro game and how well Bortles is able to avoid Clowney in at least 4 different occasions. AN eye opener and not many Sunday QBs do it as well.

In addition, Bortles amazing ability to keep cool, calm and collected in the last minutes of the game and deliver the WIN is also a BIG indicator to me of his success on Sunday's. I think Bortles is the only QB in this draft who can stand toe to toe with Andrew Luck and still deliver a win with a GAME WINNING DRIVE!

The best thing about Bortles is that he's big and tall...which coincidentally is the biggest knock on Bridgewater.

Do we need a QB or a Men's clothing store?

I'm pretty sure Teddy Bridgewater is the only QB in this class capable of doing that.

I'm pretty sure that Bridgewater NEVER faced Clowney and due to Bridgewater's lack of mobility, I'm not TB could have avoided Clowney's pressure as well as Bortles.

Clowney was only playing half speed anyways..... wouldn't have mattered.

No excuses needed! A Troll is a Troll is a Troll!

So I'm the troll for using the standard you set in the Clowney thread, on your guy?

You posted one of your typical arrogant simple minded post.

Bingo! It doesn't take a genius to do the simple arithmetic:

Jadevon Clowney: http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/gamelog/_/id/515821/jadeveon-clowney (see 2011,12, 13)

vs

Aaron Donald: http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/gamelog/_/id/502393/aaron-donald (see 2010,11,12,13)

vs

Jeremiah Attaochu: http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/gamelog/_/id/500209/jeremiah-attaochu (see 2010,11,12,13)

It doesn't take long to call the roll, Clowney gets beat in almost every instance.

and I turned it around on you.

You got called out and the best rebuttle you can muster up is, "you're a troll".
I think it's obvious who the troll is.

You don't have to read many of my posts, regardless of the thread, regardless of the subject matter, to find that you are not far behind with some kind of an attack or derogatory post aimed at my message.

Ha ha. :spit: Good stuff.

It is what it is. It would've taken me less than 5 minutes to completely deconstruct your silly belligerent post. Since it was a troll post I didn't waste my time. It's possible that you're just a Jackwagon and that's the way your personality is wired. If that is the case then I apologize for calling you a troll.

The reason it's a troll post is no reasonable person would try to make a connection of DE stats to and with QB stats. Unfortunately it appears they may be a few who've been sucked in by your BAD INTELL and BAD ANAYLSIS due to your belligerence. I expect most will see though it.

You did bring to the for front that Teddy Bridgewater is the King QB of the Sister Janes of the Weak Sisterhood. Regardless I think you and I are done here.

I'm not a mod... just a patron, same as you guys. You probably don't care about how I feel, but I wish you guys would keep this back & forth in PMs.. one or two is understandable, but you've bringing you beef in multiple threads for multiple posts.
