1. Miami Dolphins - Chris Long, Virginia 6033 274 DE 9.72
Parcells will low ball Jake right out of accepting his offer thus sliding down to Atlanta. Chris is Parcells target all along. CL will be the new face of the Dophins & defensive force @ OLB sometimes END depending on Jason Taylors dancing career. If a deal cannot be reached prior to draft day all bets are off, there still could be some kind of trade, question is can it get done in 10 minutes?
2 St.Louis Rams - Vernon Gholston, Ohio State 6030 266 DE/OLB 9.59
RDE opposite LDE Leonard Little, leaving last years 1st pick Adam Carricker inside @ DT. Rams want a pass rush & Vernon gives them a Merriman type atheltic beast off the edge.
3 Atlanta Falcons - Jake Long, Michigan 6070 313 OT 9.69
Falcons fortunes have turned as they address offensive line with T Jake Long. represents a clean departure from the past, very solid new face to the franchise you can start immediately, improving pass protection for their next QB (2nd rd.) Joe Flacco.
4 Oakland Raiders - Sedric Ellis, USC 6004 309 DT 9.62
despite ourlads rankings the edge @ DT goes to Ellis because of health realted injurys. Sedric been a healthy, productive player for the USC Trojans. Can collapse the pocket with tremendous bull rush ala retired tackle Warren Sapp. While the Raiders spent a ton of money in free agency on ends the middle remains a weakness, not anymore with baby Sapp.
5 Kansas City Chiefs - Ryan Clady, Boise State 6061 309 OT 9.42
Should suck it up just like Arizona did last draft taking Levi Brown #5 over Adrian Peterson. Ryan for whatever your reasons is one of the more undervalued talents in this draft class. He has ideal LT measueables, almost 37" arm length, 6061 309 moves like a cat, destroys like the Hulk, I beleive it has alot to do with Bose States system & the fact not many people watched him play, easily the best tackle in the draft.
6. New York Jets - Darren McFadden, Arkansas 6012 211 9.70
Can't pass on McFadden or let him fall to divisional foe New England, how would that work out trying to stop that offense with Brady, Moss & McFadden? seems like a good fit for the Big Apple, keep your nose clean D-MAC off the field & handle buisness, should help whoever is their QB.
7 New England Patriots - .Branden Albert, Virginia 6055 309 OT 9.11
Not a bad consolation pick for Billicheat, address Brady long term protection makes them more athletic & able to stay fresh deep into the playoffs for another title run.
8 Baltimore Ravens - Matt Ryan, Boston College 6046 228, QB 9.41
could go cb if Ryan is off the board, if he slides as I expect, they would jump on him. Steve McNair is retireing & Kyler Boller experiment is getting old, either case they NEED to address QB with franchise talent, they don't have to throw him in there (Boller) so he has some mentoring time to develop but not much. I'm also hearing they love him..
9 Cincinnati Bengals - Glenn Dorsey, LSU 6014 297 DT 9.72
Bengals want to address their interior defense well here you go just the break they'll be hoping for. The only reason why Glenn slides this far is injury concens/history making this a great value for a great player who fills a great need.
10 New Orleans Saints - Leodis McKelvin, Troy 5102 190 CB 9.34
Branden Albert could go here then move Brown back to his more natural RT position, but how can they pass of the top cb in this draft when they need secondary help? physical, cover corner would fit in as starter day one beating out free agent aquistion Randall Gay, thus giving them excellent depth at a position that was formerly a weakness.
11 Buffalo Bills - Devin Thomas, Michigan State 6017 216, WR 9.18
first glance looks like a reach trying to address need but watching tape he really looks like an elite #1 NFL WR. highest rated in draft at his position, good soft hands, speed, size everything you look for filling roster spot opposite Lee Evans.
12 Denver Broncos - Jonathan Stewart, Oregon 5102 235 RB 9.19
Stew gives them the thunder to Selvin Youngs lightning, he is a one cut & gone zbs downhill runner with franchise written all over his thick body. Can't quite bite on Chris Williams this high & Stewart just fits what Denver likes to run.
13 Carolina Panthers - Jeff Otah, Pittsburgh 6066 322 OT 9.12
Been calling this pick for awhile, one of the few I really feel locked in on. very physical prototypical mauler LT with alot of upside I think they really like him alot if hes still available.
14 Chicago Bears - Rashard Mendenhall, Illinois 5101 225 RB 9.37
with elite physical run blocking tackles taken (Otah/Clady) they keep RM home. I'm not crazy about his running style slashing, bobbing & weaving but does it with strength & power something Benson lacked & he was the 4th overall pick.
15 Detroit Lions - Dominack Rodgers-Cromartie, Tennessee St. 6014 184 CB/FS 9.33
Matt Millien track record aside (intriqued by talented prospects w/question marks) in this case (medical-one kidney) the Cromartie blood lines run strong, there is no doubt for once, if given medical clearence, this kid will be a terrific playmaker @ CB too good to pass up.
16 Arizona Cardinals - Derrick Harvey, Florida 6045 271 RDE 9.29
The Cardinals don't have a pass rush its non-existant, there are alot of other directions/needs to address as well LT, CB, RB but Harvey falling to them here would be tempting. He would be a great fit for the system.
17 Houston Texans- Chris Williams, Vanderbuilt 6060 315 OT 9.17
Texans swap picks with Vikings for Sage Rosenfels & 3rd rd. pick #73 address long standing need for a franchise LT who best fits Gibbs ZBS.
18 Minnesota Vikings - Phillip Merling, Clemson 6042 276 DE 9.22
with Harvey off the board Vikings can afford to trade down to aquire the best available DE, could take Calais Campbell if Merling does not get medical clearence. Rosenfels adds expereince in the back-up QB role.
19 Philadelphia Eagles - Gosder Cherilus, Boston College 6065 313 OT 8.97
may seem ealry but this is a need pick their tackles are not getting any younger & Gosder has great measureables with nasty attitude, should be a natural fit for Philly.
20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DeSean Jackson, California 5096 169 WR/KR 9.09
Joey Galloway clone like smaller/speed vertical playmaker with return skills. less crazy about this pick than any but I've watched him for a couple years & he does have elite playmaking skills, if not for injurys his value would be higher.
21 Washington Redskins - Keith Rivers, USC 6022 241 OLB 9.49
will Rivers fall this far? I have no idea but it would tempt Zorn & company to select bpa over reaching for a WR with questionable character/work ethic.
22 Dallas Cowboys - Mike Jenkins, South Florida 5102 197 CB/KR 9.20warming up to Mike as a possiblity for the Texans. great package of skills for the position, speed, smooth in transition, playmaking skills will need to step up his mental approach but put that Cowboy uniform on him & I think that will be all he needs for attitude adjustment.
23 Pittsburgh Steelers - James Hardy, Indiana 6053 217 WR 8.90
with all the tackles off the board would they reach for one or a guard here? maybe RB like Felix Jones or try & trade out. so with the 23rd pick went with a big target WR in Plaxico Burress mold. Hardy would give them a nice group of weapons for big Ben along with Santonio Holmes, Hines Ward & TE Heath Miller.
24 Tennessee Titans - Limas Sweed, Texas 6037 215 WR 8.93
re-united & it feels so good....sorry. much to Texans chagrin everywhere the UT connection continues this time to cover-up inadequacy of recievers not great or standout in any one area of his game but consistant & reliable, good size with enough speed to create seperation.
25 Seattle Seahawks - Dustin Keller, Purdue 6020 242 TE 8.29
reaching here but he could sneak into the end of the 1st rd. & given the Seahawks needs this could happen. very athletic, moves well in space & creates seperation. good hands in the Dallas Clark mold.
26 Jacksonville Jaguars - Calais Campbell, Miami 6076 290 DT 8.86
thats right he moves inside to take over Marcus Stroud vacant position. has the size & frame will need to get stronger. Kentwan Balmer also option just not graded as high..
27 San Diego Chargers - Aqib Talib, Kansas 6006 202 CB 9.08
great value, can't see him sliding as far as some feel measureables too compelling this gives San Diego one of the better secondarys in the NFL with depth & talent.
28 Dallas Cowboys - Felix Jones, Arkansas 5101 207 RB 8.94adds speed to thunder with razorback alum Jerry Jones calling the shots. this completes both offseason needs & player loss via free agency.
29 San Francisco 49ers - Malcolm Kelly, Oklahoma 6036 224 WR 9.13
character issues, work ethic speed questions will be answeared once drafted & paid. there is timed speed and actuall game time speed, I dont seem to remember speed being an issue @ Oklahoma. will be out to prove everyone wrong, Kelly is a true #1 & by slipping this far helps buffer the pain of picking so late.
30 Green Bay Packers - Brandon Flowers, Virginia Tech 5096 189 CB 8.80
could also take a look at Justin King who has better speed but favor Flowers physical play & run support/toughness.
31 New England Patriots - No Pick - Spygate
32 New York Giants - Kenny Phillips, Miami 6022 212 FS 9.10GM Jerry Reese has proven he's a good evaluator of talent, doesn't take a genius to know getting Kenny Phillips this late is a steal. has the ability to come in as rookie & start for Super Bowl Champions with the aging Sammy Knight mentoring.
33 Miami Dolphins - Sam Baker, USC 6045 309 OT 8.60
Most NFL ready to start of remaining tackles coming from Pro style system/coaching has the mental toughness to withstand pressure should be your starting LT opening day, which is what the Dolphins have to have are players ready to step up to the challenge & start.
34 St. Louis Rams - Jarod Mayo, Tennessee 6012 242 MLB 8.89
defensive draft for the Rams, Mayo shores up the middle, the most physically intimidating run plugger of the mlb's, great value high productivity pick similar to the DeMeco Ryans selection by the Texans in 06.
35 Atlanta Falcons - Joe Flacco, Delaware 6063 236 QB 8.75
as you probably noticed Brian Brohm is still on the board, but I think they want to distance themselves from former coach Bobby Petrino plus Joe Flacco reminds them of another former Falcon, now Texan, Matt Schaub. feel in love with his game during Senior Bowl weekend, displayed every throw & at his Pro Day as well, reads through his progressions, presence standing in the pocket with surprising mobility to move or throw on the run. when all is said & done could be the best QB to come out of this class. if the Falcons choose to wait on QB they still have two more 2nd rd. picks.
36 Kansas City Chiefs - Antoine Cason, 6002 191 CB 9.09
Good size, productive cover "2" corner adds value with return skills. four year starter but still showed improvement each year, has 1st rd. talent depends on teams interview/workout good value pick addressing priority need.
