jetdoc said:Knowing how Peyton generally handles things, I'd say that's EXACTLY what he was meaning. Maybe it didn't come across like that but if you watched the game, they DID have some blocking scheme problems. Pittsburgh was bringing alot more men than they had blockers. Peyton was running for his life most of the day.![]()
Marcus said:But like I said, Manning needed to man up and shut up. What he said today will definately come back to haunt him.
I think that's a fair observation. For 4 years Carr has gotten beat to a pulp,Marcus said:"I'm trying to be a good teammate here, but we had some protection problems today."

yet I've never seen a report of him complaining about his OL, which as we
know have let him down many, many Sundays. Manning gets a little taste of what Carr has been going thru all this time, and he immediately points his finger at his OL. If one of the traits of leadership is bearing the burden while
not blaming others, Carr is a far better leader in this instance than Manning.
And I think that's the irony of it, the league MVP blaming his teammates for the teams failure. Not to classy and not the stuff of leadership.Kaiser Toro said:Two time league MVP vs. 15 wins in four years? I'll take the loser and his leadership all day.![]()
That why Terry Brandshaw said today that manning must be a winner and a loser. Peyton needs to learn how to advance in the playoffs and not choke, and not say dumb comments like the one one he said about his OL.Marcus said:"I'm trying to be a good teammate here, but we had some protection problems today."

I love it, keep those Peyton pictures coming.THE NFL DRAFT said:![]()
I found a shot of Peyton from the press conference.
not that i trust any steelers players, but carr needs to give mckinney a toungue lashing for some of his calls he makes. just silly if you ask me.aj. said:"We had him confused. He was arguing with his offensive linemen. It's always a good sign for the defense when the quarterback's yelling at his teammates."

Those of us who want him gone will chery pick the bad ones all day. Alot of us have been defending him and covering for him but we're done.wags said:I think Carr has also complimented the OL when he had decent protection. Does anyone care to cherry pick one of those comments or are we just picking the bad ones?

Two time MVP? No offense, but who cares. He has just as many Superbowl rings as David Carr.Kaiser Toro said:Two time league MVP vs. 15 wins in four years? I'll take the loser and his leadership all day.![]()
Ha ha. I thought the same thing and was even waiting for him to say somthing.bigtex77 said:What Peyton really meant to say was if their "liquored up kicker " had made the kick, they might have won.![]()

All I know is to keep working, to come back next year and be a better quarterback, a better leader. You get tired of saying that after every playoff loss because pretty soon, you start running out of years
"I'm looking for a safe word here, I don't want to be a bad teammate," Manning said when asked about Indianapolis' blown blocking assignments. "Pittsburgh gave us trouble and put us in some situations we're not usually in."
HoustonFan said:Man, I didn't see Peyton Manning run anywhere. He messed up too and he shouldn't have put his line on blast to the media like that. Face it, he can't win the games that matter.
So I'm guessing you didnt see aj.'s first post???chuckm said:IMO, this isn't the same thing ... arguing during the game happens every week ... complaining to the media doesn't

Carr has done it before.
http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl?id=2004_3819611Specifically, though, Carr was asked about the breakdown in pass protection that led to a season-high-tying five sacks.
"That was as bad as it's been in the last two years," Carr said

IMO Payton is this generations Dan Marino. He will set a whole bunch of records and have steller seasons. But, he will never get a ring.
Again my opinion but how good of a leader are you if you cant win with Edge, Harrison, Wayne, and stockly-spell.
Double Barrel said:'eh....Manning speaks the truth. Honestly, who cares?
They've just been through one heck of an emotional roller coaster ride - 13-0 season clinching the homefield, Dungy's son, a hard fought butt whooping by the Steelers...so I give him a little leeway with making a statement of the obvious.
He's still one of the great QBs in today's NFL, no matter how you slice and dice it.

TexanFanInCC said:hey when u are consistently one of the top 3 passers year after year and as good as manning is, then you SHOULD have the right to criticize ur line, especially seeing as how they have been one of the better lines this season. manning is the face of the franchise, so if he has a problem, then he should be able to share it.
HoustonFrog said:After hearing the audio of it today I think less and less of it. He qualified it and it wasn't like he said, "Our tackles couldn't stop anyone." He just stated the obvious, that they had protection issues. I'm not a huge fan of his...kind of Marino-ish but I think this was pretty tame.
