Grid said:We can drop Hollings. Wells is depth at both HB and FB..as well as a big special teams contributor.. if we can keep him, we will. Id say we would even keep him over Morency if we had to make the decision. Luckily we dont.
If they weren't ignorant and extended DD last offseason, I'd keep Wells and cut DD.
Kinda odd how CC said that they waited on Carr's extension because there was no rush on it (on 610 around week 10-11), yet they had DD under contract and extended him.
Wells, Norris and Morency are the only backs we have that should be in the NFL.

Davis, Wells, Morency...Why do we need another RB?
this is either the funniest sarcastic joke on the board, or the most ignorant one I have read this year.If they weren't ignorant and extended DD last offseason, I'd keep Wells and cut DD.

Wells is a FA now and you don't see many teams, including the Texans, rushing to sign him for a reason, IMHO. That would be because he is quite simply average to below average, depending on what position you put him at.
what does this have to do with special teams? Wells is a decent blocker, and your right, it is either a good hit or a very clean miss. Don't know why ANYONE would want a blocker that can't block consistantly but you can listen to all those inside sources all you supposedly have that disagree with that thought, I guess. They've also stated that they would rather have Wells in on the plays the RBs are supposed to pass block, because he would either hit the guy hard or miss completely because he goes full speed. They prefer a clean miss to a half-hearted attempt, which has a tendancy to mess up the o-lineman as much as the rusher.
uh, who said anything about watching a tape, rafterticket? I was talking about watching him in person, and specifically watching Wells, on purpose to try and see why people are touting his special teams playing. Those times are the one when I have noticed on returns when he is the left side of the wedge for Mathis. Watch the tapes yourself, not sure they show it actually on TV film, but 7 times out of 10 he will miss blocking ANYONE at all. Which is where my impression of him being a special team non-contributor comes from. How in the world can you be part of the blocking wedge and not engage anyone at all and still be considered a GOOD special teams player? Now, go back and watch your tapes, and then tell me what a rotten player Jonathan Wells is. I can't wait.
I don't post here as much as I used to, but read this board almost daily. Occasionally I do get in the mood to upgrade some of the more *****ic posts on this board with real football knowledge and my opinions. So I impart some of my wisdom on the board.Man, you post here every once in a while and the things you say seem to come from the bizarro universe. Just in case, I just want to make sure you knew that Wells wore number 32, not 25.

But just so you know rafterticket, I have been on this board since its existance. I was on the board that existed before it, and the one before it even. In short I have been on the official sites MB before the team even had a uniform or helmet picked out. So don't get the wrong impression that I am new here or just came onboard this site.
