Anyone have the latest news on AJ? I see questionable still listed on gambling sites. This offense could have a pulse with Pitts at tackle AJ-Gaffney-Armstrong/Mathis. and Bradford getting the crowd pumped up. Without Andre, I'm not liking our chances of scoring.

For the last couple weeks this had been the game I was expecting Andre to be back, so look for him to be back in the lineup this week. The official injury report should be released this afternoon.

just heard on 610 that he practiced today...take that as you will

and another note, DD sat out due to an inflamed knee

anyone think we will be able to run the ball more/better if he is out? thats my positive outlook for today.

i hope AJ plays. i heard somewhere that if he did he would not start, just come in as a situational guy. but i dont know how that would work out.

AJ has been out for a while now. Caper's calls it a "mysterious injury". First they said it was his calf, then his knee.

Conspiracy theory:
1.AJ pretending to be hurt so he won't have to play on a sucky team?
2.AJ is has a serious(season ending) injury.

We are toast if AJ and DD are gone.

DD will play. Runningbacks get banged up week by week.

I'd like to have our offense back at full strength with Andre though. I'd especially like to have Mathis and Johnson with Gaffney in the slot.

Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (calf) returned to practice Wednesday, Nov. 2 for the first time since suffering a calf injury and said he felt better than expected. Johnson's status for Week 9 has yet to be determined.
Yay he's back.:monkey:  :excited: :yahoo:

As usuall, the Texans are less than clear regarding player injuries. I doubt it's done to irritate the fans, but rather to make the opponets do more guessing.

I hope and choose not to believe it #1, I think he has too much heart and competitive fire. And if it were to be #2, we are up a river without a paddle. I think we will see him on the field, at least somewhat. I think DD will play with the knee, if not expect a lot of J. Wells.
And Mathis, just keep doing what you have been doing!

:texans:

There is no reason to bring back Andre Johnson if he's not 100% healthy. I know, I know there's no one who's 100% healthy in the NFL, but A.J. should come back if he's completely sure that the injury is behind him. We cannot risk him being injured long term and if that means him not playing the rest of the season then we'll have to take that precaution. He's too valuable and too good of a player for us.

Also when he was playing, he wasn't catching anything. I hope he plays though and comes back and has the kind of impact Gary Walker had.

Texans | A. Johnson Practices, Improving
Thu, 3 Nov 2005 13:20:58 -0800

Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (calf) practiced Thursday, Nov. 3, and continues to improve. Johnson said he has every intention of playing in Week 9, barring any setbacks.
:jam:

Woo Hoo, now lets just hope that Capers will get his head out of his *** and play Mathis on the other side. That will really open things up :yahoo:

It's on our front page too Caddy...that's probably where she got it.

Extra receiver: Andre Johnson practiced on Wednesday and Thursday, and Capers said he did everything the coaches expected of him. However, the Texans held Johnson out of practice Friday.

In fact, Johnson and rookie wideout Jerome Mathis did not practice because both were bothered with tightness in their hamstring.

“I anticipate both of those guys being available,” Capers said. “We’ll work them out on Sunday, but they’ve both practiced two days this week. We just felt it was in their best interest to hold them out today.”

No conspiracy, just something unusual and difficult to diagnose.

A couple of Mondays ago, AJ flew out of town to get another opinion about his injury. I don't know what the doctor said, but it is encouraging that he is moving on it.

As for the mysterious calf/knee thing, as I understand it, his injury is not a traditional knee injury where the problem is on the front or sides of the knee. The pain is in the back of the knee--where the knee connects to the calf. This is not a common knee injury, and it can be difficult to diagnose.

If you want to know all about this stuff, check out this link on diagnosing back of the knee pain:

http://www.physsportsmed.com/issues/2004/0304/muche.htm

The short version is that it can be lots of different things, and can sometimes be difficult to diagnose but most commonly it is "soft-tissue and tendon injuries."

Hope to see him on Sunday with no reinjury.

How about . . .

3. Nothing really wrong with AJ, but the coaches are are keeping him out to force Carr to look for other receivers.
:heh: :heh:

andre finally gets back and now mathis is out. i was really looking forward to seeing both these guys on the field at the same time.

A reliable friend just told me A Johnson is considering retiring. Says he just don't have it anymore. I hope this isn't true.

Before you get brutally attacked by the board, let me defend you...

I believe you... I'm not predicting it will happen, but I do believe he's considering it. His body has taken one heck of a beating, and it has lost a lot of the explosiveness. I would imagine that the idea of a rebuild and on the heels of such an awful season is disheartening for him, particularly if his body is slow to recover from the season.

Guaranteed 16 mill this year. No *******in way he's retiring.

Quit making a big deal about the voluntary camp no-show.

I could actually see this he doesn't need the money and maybe he just doesn't wanna sit through another rebuild.

well he cant play forever ........ dats for sure

none issue IMO good thing this is a rebuilding year and we wont be going anywhere anyways we can draft our #2 WR next year and Hopkins will have to be the man

AJ leaving that kind of $$$$ on the table = LOL

Maybe he wants to be traded. What's his value?
