Nice observations.I think Caserio has to be flexible. If the trade back for #3 stays in the top 10 and nets a 2nd round pick, do it. #13 is trickier, because that might be where the top talent starts to taper off. If there is a Trevor Penning or Jermaine Johnson at #13, I'm staying. If not, I would move down in the mid-20's and look for Zion Johnson or Kenyon Green. I would also be very tempted to take Treylon Burks if here were available in the 20's.
I’d vomit. He plays nothing like his combine numbers would indicate.I'm picking Walker at 1-3

It was how he was used that kept his numbers down.
You appear to be of the opinion that NC is running this draft. I tend to agree but it is very ambiguous from everything I’ve been reading on the Texans site…transcripts from interviews, etc. when NC is speaking he seems to use “team” when talking about drafting players but refers to himself when talking about moving down in the draft. Lovie uses the term ”we” a lot but also is very ambiguous sometimes when discussing who is actually calling the name on draft day. He almost seems to put himself in those shoes. Part of the ambiguity probably stems from his upgrade from asst HC to HC with the inexperienced DC gone.I think Caserio has to be flexible. I don’t care about his numbers, I care about how I saw him play (in an admittedly small sample size). He played like he had a fraction of the athleticism he showed at the combine. Maybe coaching can bring that athleticism out on the field, but I’m not going to bet a top 3 (or 5, or 10) pick on that.It was how he was used that kept his numbers down.
Yeah, I’ve got a lot of time for Jones. He’s definitely on my list. That’s unknown factor until he’s on a NFL field. If he brings his CFB production to the Texans, then the Texans might’ve been better to draft DL, Travis Jones (Connecticut) who’s CFB and Senior Bowl production should get any team excited…..especially since he could be available in RD2.
Everything that I hear the Texans saying is that the highest priority is improving the running game. So why are so many, and the mocks, ignoring this and prioritizing defense?Looking at the national mocks, it seems most are pumping for Jags going OL and Lions DL.
This is a strong possibility which leaves Texans with Kyle Hamilton being available.
Hamilton has been described as dominant cleaning up against the run and the pass. Texans have big needs in the backfield so he is going to be really hard to pass up. It might be a touch high for a Safety, but he is graded as the #1 pick in this draft.
He is plug and play so it is hard to find reasons not to take him.
I would not be disappointed with him being taken by Texans at #3, if they stay put.

This confusion happens every year and it is deliberate. No team wants anyone outside their inner circle knowing what they are actually planning and the sporting media makes gazillions out of all this circus.Everything that I hear the Texans saying is that the highest priority is improving the running game. Cann is a 30 year old jag, going into his 8th season and coming off a knee injury. He's not the answer at RG. So far, the Texans have done nothing to improve the interior oline. Britt is 30 years old and going into his 9th season after being injured, again, last year.Because the weakness in the OL is the OG's.
Warhop got his guy in FA (Cann) and you can find another above avg starting OG in the 3rd rd. Heck, draft 2 if you like. Guys like Kinnard/Salyer/Ingram/Strange would all be massive upgrades.
The DL needs upgrades too and the DL is one of the strengths of this draft.

Texans may have made moves on the OL, but haven't improved over last year, except for getting Tunsil back at LT.This confusion happens every year and it is deliberate. I have seen teams bypass obvious needs to take bpa, and I've seen teams reach for players that are a total surprise.
For Texans, I think it is going to come down to bpa at position of need, wherever they happen to pick and they have sooo many options open to them.
Still, Texans have already made moves on the OL so I believe it is a slightly lower priority right now so I am leaning defense with their first pick and probably their second.
Zierlein has Salyer graded as a good backup with potential to develope as a starter. Of course, with the Texans he may win out as the starter, but still...? He has Strange as an eventual average starter. That's why I said I wouldn't have a problem with picking Salyer/Strange in the 3rd rd. I probably would pick Salyer at 37.

I want a plug and play starter from day one. The idea you can win the trenches with jags is not my cup of tea.
Getting Tunsil back. Drafting Salyer at 37. Strange at 68. Ruckert at 80 and Rashard or Kazir White at 108 and the run game will be much better.
See my mock - I have them taking Salyer.Texans may have made moves on the OL, but haven't improved over last year, except for getting Tunsil back at LT.
Texans have to trade back at least once to gain another RD2 pick and staying within the range of picking one of the top OG’s Zion Johnson or Kenyon Green.
Man, this draft could get offensive in a hurry. I know ZJ and KG are going to go inside the top 20 picks of RD1. I also know that the Texans need a WR who’s capable of taking the top off of defenses which goes a long way in helping the running game b/c safeties have to be aware of the killer WR. The running game goes nowhere, even with the input of solid OG’s, if they don’t have the horses in the backfield….right now, they have no horses.

I hear McClain saying it. But he doesn’t count
610 and I read it in the Chronicle. It's just an opinion shared by many.Where are you hearing this?

Thanks, I seldom hear comments first hand, most often being reported second hand.Lovie said it first on his presser and whenever he was interviewed.
I don't remember hearing "highest priority"Lovie said it first on his presser and whenever he was interviewed.
I don't remember hearing "highest priority"
Not the way Number19 relates in his post anyway.
I believe it should be the highest priority. I don't care for these "draft a tackle, play him at guard until Tunsil is gone." Mocks.
I'm more in the trade both 1s into the 20+ range. Draft Guards & RBs & stockpile future picks mocks.

I want that 4.39-40 RB….Breece Hall more than any back in the draft. He’s the whole RB package and would be a major step in getting the Texans running game going in the right direction. He’s the BPA at this position in the draft.
Correct….if I want and need OG’s to improve the running game, then I want the best OG’s in the draft. I want controlled maulers who do it at the first and second level while destroying anyone who gets in their way.

With this said, I'm not against taking a guy like one of the White's at 4-108.
I don't want a high investment in the RB position this year. The 2023 draft is the time for that.
If you want to see what a star level RB looks like then checkout Bijan Robinson next yr. I would rather wait a ye and get a guy like that. They've got the picks in the 2023 draft to add a true star level players in 2023. Bijan is what I'm talking about when I'm talking about adding star level players.

I absolutely understand I’ll be passing on a great player. You're going to be passing on a great player if you do this. Unless the pick is Neal, I'm lukewarm on the OG's in this class minus Green in the 1st.

Too easy.
Way too easy
Brother have you heard of Thunder and Lightning? You can draft a good back this year and next year as well. Two headed monster is where it’s at.
Which makes the Watson trade so opportune. 1/13 is perfect for Green. Maybe we could trade back no more than 5 picks and get an extra three. That leaves 1/3 for Lovie to pick the defensive player of his choice, or we could trade back and pick up a two and still get a defensive player.I absolutely understand I’ll be passing on a great player.
My goal is to raise the young talent level of this team. I want to add as many top 100 players as possible while stocking future draft picks
I like Kenneth Walker III too. Either would be fine with 68I want that 4.39-40 RB….Breece Hall more than any back in the draft. He’s the whole RB package and would be a major step in getting the Texans running game going in the right direction. He’s the BPA at this position in the draft.
I agree that I don’t see Hutchinson falling, but I really like him and Ike. I don’t know if we’ll find a partner to trade down with, but both of these guys are on my list for 3.Aidan Hutchinson and Ikem Ekwonu will visit the Texans:
This is surprisingSome really poor numbers reported from A&M's pro day.
5.03 from Wydermyer is bad. Real bad. 4.63 from Spiller is far from good. I would question the track or the timers, but the numbers from Leal and Green are consistent from the combine. I have to go back and look at Spiller & Wydermyer, but I know they looked faster in games.
