I disconnected dish network services last month. I only ever kept it to watch the NFL, but decided it wasn't worth the added expense.
I will just follow the team via this board and google for updates.
I'm more interested in rookies around the league than any team. Clyde Edwards-Helaire (my pick for OROY), Burrow, Jeudy, Dobbins, Lamb, Jonathan Taylor (paired up with Mack in Indy!), Chase Young.'eh, about the same. It's just entertainment, after all.
I'm actually looking more forward to the Buccaneers this season than the Texans. I'll still tune in, but my expectations are 'meh'.

I had Direct TV until last year at $153 a month. I have the same thing now for $65 via streaming. If you really want those stations, there are other ways besides Dish and Direct TV. https://tv.youtube.com/welcome/?utm_source=pm&utm_medium=gs&utm_campaign=1006175
There are was to stream games, if you really want to. A legal option for Most of the Texans games is to sign up for CBS All-Access. $5.99 (ads), $11.99 (no ads) and you will access to the local CBS broadcast. Optionally, If you download the AppleTV+ app on your mobile or streaming device...they have a offer if you subscribe to AppleTV ($4.99). You can get CBS all-access (no ads) and Showtime for $10.00 a month together (as long as you keep the $4.99 AppleTV subscription). Also, there is the Locast option. Locast streams local channels (for supported markets) including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and does it for "Free". They ask for a "Donation" or you will see a Pop-up ad on occasion. It is $5 a month "donation" (they do that for legal reason). www.locast.org. I also use NFL illegal streams for out of market games...lol.
I couldn’t tell you who our first pick was. That’s how disinterested I am in another OB season.
Kinda like when we lost the Oilers, I’ll follow players and good story lines.
Straight to the point without a lot said. I like that. Better than my long explanation. My choice is about the same.. but f*ck, I just like football.
you save me a lot of writing. I don't watch football for the national anthem, fans in the stands, etc. It is possible this season that O'Brien may drive me away that remains to be seen. crappy crappie play by players may drive me away. That will be during the season but for now I am very excited for this roster. I also believe that many fans need Sports to uplift them during this troubling time. I can turn to other Pursuits but not ready for that quite yet.My interest is about the same. There are many reasons for losing interest but I for one do not find any of them worth losing interest in our team. BO'b makes it hard to maintain my level of interest but the teams changes make me curious to see how they perform. If the defense looks as bad as it did at the end of last season and the offense is as boring and poorly run as it has been since BO'b took over than I will lose interest rather quickly. Still to start this season I am all in and excited to see where we stand. BO'b may be a better head coach this season than in the past. I won't hold by breath in regards to that though.
I feel like the best thing that could happen is a total meltdown so we can get rid of King OB.
This is a very good point and you look across all of sports you can see the team ownership structures that consistently make good hires and know when to move on from what isn’t working vs the ones that make bad hires, fire coaches without giving them the chance to come good, and let coaches who aren’t performing stay too long (both of which are equally catastrophic).I couldn't agree more. But you know what's even more depressing? The people that created this situation in the first place are the same people that have to fix it.
Have you thought about NFL Game Pass?Thank you both, I will look into these options.
For those not Excited about new season does the new Watson contract change your mind?

To me, it doesn’t matter much who the players are. I feel the best will not be gotten out of them with this current regime.
I can only hope that the added 4 years for Watson will have him here longer than OB will be here. Of course, that means something has to happen bad enough for a McNair to make a change. That, of course, makes Watson look like he’s not worth the deal.
If Watson is a top 5 NFL quarterback should he not make plays in any system if he has the time to throw iquality Receivers and tight ends?To me, it doesn’t matter much who the players are. I feel the best will not be gotten out of them with this current regime.

The Texans made the decision to remain who they are for the next 4 yrs with both BOB/DW4. Expect more of the same old same old. My question is how long will it take for the Texans to get out from under the guaranteed $$$$ in DW4's deal?
SMH
I'm not understanding the contract. If I'm understanding it right they can cut loose in 2022. But they'll have to make that decision by the fifth day of the 2022 league year in order to not vest the 2023 season guarantees, and will have to eat $35M of his guaranteed 2022 salary.
But again, that's just my read of the early breakdown of the deal.
I'm not understanding the contract.
Here it said DW4 is guaranteed nearly $111M.
Texans, Watson reach 4-year, $160M extension
QB Deshaun Watson will have the second-largest total contract ($177.54 million) in NFL history after he signs a four-year, $160 million extension with the Texans, his agent confirmed.www.google.com
In another article, it says $77M.
(Which seems to be the sum of his remaining salary under the rookie contract, the $27M signing bonus, and the $35M salary for 2022.)
Still, at the minimum, the Texans will have to hand out the $27M signing bonus this year and the $35M in 2022.My understanding is the first 3 years are fully guaranteed, the remaining years become guaranteed at the start of the year pro prior. So the latter are 'guarantees', they just aren't fully guaranteed from the start.

That pretty much tie them up for 2023, and so they will have to hand out the roster bonus for 2023 or take that dead cap (on the signing bonus).
In another word, they can't cut tie with DW4 without taking a lump.
By then, they would already be out of $62M (27+35). If they cut him, they basically gave Watsob $62M for not playing a down on the new contract. They won't owe him anything in 2023 if they cut ties before the start of the 2022 league year. But yes they'd still be on the hook cap-wise for 2022 as that's fully guaranteed.

I don't see that happening.

This is what top 5 QB's do.
Look at Rodgers. He's effective in any system. Sure his numbers are down but that's due to the system.
I thought the Texans can get out of the contract after on 3 yrs with a minimal cap hit.
