He's likely just a camp body on this team. I don't really see a spot on the 53 for him, but he could be a PS guy or certainly could make another team. These are the types of guys who need to play in these PS games, and if you can't, then other teams can't see your film.

I’m interested in this cat as well. Outside shot to land on the 53, but the longer Harris is out, the better his chances become. I think he is a lock for the PS, but can he force his way on the 53? Stay tuned!

I was thinking the longer Del’shawn Phillips is out the better his chances. He’s not in the running for a starting job like Harris, just trying to make the team in camp.

Phillips got a bigger contract than Derek Barnett (a presumed roster lock at DE). But he’s going to be a ST player first and foremost. If Tooley can show he’s capable of being a depth piece at UDFA prices…
 
McClain posted a great story about Lassiter on the Texans web this afternoon. Would be a great post if someone smarter than me can post it.

From the article. Something I notice in a lot of the players brought in by Caserio. Football is #1. Just play the game.

A good example of why the Texans were so high on Lassiter can be found in his decision to play in the Orange Bowl. Georgia had lost to Alabama and wasn't in the championship game. They were playing Florida State. The coaches told Lassiter they wouldn't hold it against him if he opted out as so many players elect to do at the end of their college careers.
"I had the opportunity to play in the game with my teammates, and I was healthy, so it was a no-brainer," he said. "I eat, sleep and breathe football. Football has been the love of my life since I was 3 years old. Why would I not play? Other guys chose to make other decisions, and I respect their decision because everyone has to make a decision for themselves, their families and their brotherhood. But my decision was to play football."

I questioned the decision to get lighter after the success he had his rookie year....and now its been 2 straight years of losing weight...he says now that he's learned and has become more familiar with the system...maybe thats what hurt him last year (the new system) but now he's gone thru 2 years of getting lighter...will be interesting to see how it affects his play.
 
Heck has sustained a foot injury in practice and is being evaluated. Dejavu? Remember, last year;, he was on the PUP during TC and into the beginning of the regular season. When he came back, he sustained what was evidently a compensatory back injury, all this leading to a loss of most of the season.

Yes I'm aware of his history and have followed him since he was a freshman. As I've posted, I think he could be the eventual replacement for Laramie tonsil. I'm just surprised they show him a left tackle ,but this early it is no big deal.

Heck's foot injury is plantar fasciitis. He will unlikely to return to play by the season opener if then. I haven't yet been able to confirm that last year's foot problem was plantar fasciitis, but it is very possible. The complete recovery from plantar fasciitis symptoms is a very long process, which can take as long as two years. If Heck tries to force his way back too early, he has to also enjoy walking on broken glass. :tiphat:

Hopefully, he doesn't again develop a compensatory back problem.
 
In his fifth year, Heck may feel that he needs to be on the field to sign a more lucrative contract in the future.
Going back too soon may end his career.
 
Will Anderson Jr., and Danielle Hunter not practicing.............the team says "minor." I always worry when injuries are not detailed by labelled "minor." "Minor" by the teams tends too many times to have a strange unpredictable connotation. :thinking:

Noah Brown definitely outplayed Woods last season, they both had their opportunities. Hutchinson gives me more hope than Metchie, of the 2. But there’s at least 4 in the conversation for those last 2 spots, and that’s before we consider Skworonek and any promising UDFA’s.

But yes, the WR room will be deep, I reckon at least 1, maybe 2 of our cuts will be offered contracts elsewhere.

The defense is ahead of the offense​

The defense has had practices where it has forced multiple interceptions, sacks and fumbles through almost three weeks. There's been positive moments for the offense when Stroud and Diggs have connected for big gains or touchdowns in the red zone. But that hasn't been consistent and that's because of the defense.
The three biggest standouts are linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (who intercepted Stroud on Monday), cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and Hunter. Al-Shaair has been disruptive by constantly stopping run plays and being effective in coverage. Texans teammates have raved about his leadership through accountability. Will Anderson Jr. mentioned after minicamp how Al-Shaair told him to "stop f---ing pouting" during a June practice because Anderson was disappointed with himself following a play.

This is very interesting, the lack of starters playing in pre-season games means we only really got to evaluate the depth, certainly offensive depth looks way ahead of defensive depth. Good to hear that the starting D is matching up well, because that O, especially the passing game looks lethal on paper.
