2024 TRAINING CAMP DISCUSSION THREAD

No way does another team make the same mistake as the Jets have made by trading for Reddick right?

Right???

Like why are you trading for a guy who wants a new contract and is getting traded because of it and then the team acquiring the player...doesn't want to give them a contract.
BOB did this with Tunsil. Paid him, didn't trade him.

Obviously he's just a rookie, but I saw us somewhat abuse Payton Wilson several times in the passing attack during that game and he's supposed to be a good coverage LB.

As for Stover he's looking further along than I think most would have hoped. He won't be usurping Schultz, but Brevin Jordan definitely needs to be looking over his shoulder.

Honestly would love if we could use Beck less and put Jordan in his role instead, but I just know they won't.
Stover gives Ryans the ability to use Jordan like you want him too.

BTW, I dont really keep up with TC that close. How has Jordan looked?

Brevin was out for awhile with a bit of an injury.

Before that he was getting a lot of praise from Demeco. At one point Demeco joked that they had their daily Jordan clip when he would make a highlight package of good things they had done in practice the previous day that they wanted to highlight to the team.

I really hope they use Brevin Jordan as an Hback vs having beck as FB...not only would it save a position on the roster but also give Brevin more opportunities to shine.

From what I've been told, Metchie has been slow, having problems with routes requiring sharp cutting and significant problems hanging onto the ball. This is all consistent with what the literature has reported in WRs post ACL............short-term and long-term.

Which is unfortunate because my main issue with him hasn't been speed or agility related, it's been the fact he cant' catch.

A lot of not being able to catch is the fact that a receiver is not able to position his body in proper alignment with the ball...........something that is commonly a result of poor mobility/agility.

Hope for Autry?
Autry re. his suspension:

"I immediately investigated the matter and discovered that a pharmacy to which my doctors submitted a prescription for a different medication, had, whether intentionally, recklessly, or negligently, included a banned substance. I want to be clear, at no time did I know or even suspect that this medication contained a banned substance.
A very confusing statement. Did the doctor write the wrong prescription...........................did the pharmacist fill it incorrectly................or did the medication normally contain a banned substance that the doctor overlooked or Autry never reviewed it prior to taking it...............and did Autry have the team or an NFL official check it before he took it?

In my opinion, if Autry's version is true, his team and his union would be screaming at him to file an appeal. That did not happen.

On the good, Kendrick at least underwent meniscus repair instead of excision/trim of his right knee........but still keep in mind that this is the important side for a LG.
Repair gives the best long-term prognosis vs excision. But that does not give the player a guaranteed results.

In a 2022 review [Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc.]of In 12 separate studies, including 864 patients was reported. Studies reporting meniscus repair outcome on root repairs, revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, discoid menisci or ramp lesions were excluded. Revision surgery was used as failure definition in all included studies. The overall failure rate of meniscal repair at a mean follow-up of 86 months was 19.1%.

The great news will be if Mixon and Harris will be able to remain healthy over at least the next month. Quad and calf soft tissue injuries are notorious for being nagging and recurrent in the same season...............especially in the 6 weeks following returning to game play.

In the preseason especially, injuries are always downplayed and minimized even more than during the regular season when there are mandated weekly injury reports. So............... View attachment 14348

Are you going to the joint practice? If so, give us a report on what you see.

I kinda misphrased that comment, but no I'm not going. I've got a 2 1/2 year old and 9 month old that require all of my free time (minus the message board posting.) I just meant that I think the Rams are a good team to joint practice with, due to their scheme. I'll have to rely on our local journalists to get an actual report from the practice.

In the past, I would make it out to the practices. Always saw the legendary fan Joe Texan. Usually ran into him getting the practice tickets at Foleys, as well. My job doesn't allow the freedom that I once had, plus I don't know if I can handle the heat that well, now. You certainly have your hands full. Hopefully, one of our Texans Talk brethren can make it out to the practice field.

Man they must believe in Murray a lot more than I do.

I said it earlier in camp when they said they were almost exclusively playing Pitre at nickel but i think what they're doing with the safeties says more about the corner depth than how great the safeties are.

Lassiter wasnt even challenged for the starting cb spot. I hope hes THAT good, but there wasnt a corner on that roster that even made it an interesting competition with a second rd rookie.

I do like our safety depth, but the cb depth scares the xhyt out of me. So get creative with the safeties. I like it.

This is a guy I had in several mocks and steel told me would be a terrible pick. Another SB special. CJ was dumb and this guy was slow. Let’s see when the bullets fly for real, but instincts matter at corner. Give him some help over the top and he’s going to be fine.

Corner is a position I expect to see some depth pieces change in the next week. Other position groups that could see additions are LB, DT, OL, and RB. Keep an eye on waiver wire and/or minor trades after this weekends games.
I actually feel like they're really pleasantly surprised at DT and no longer expect to see anything go on at that position unless a true superstar comes available. Even then Demeco tends to play his starting DTs only around 60% of the snaps, so there's also the team a management aspect of how much cap $ do you give to a position that doesn't actually play that many snaps.

As long as they leave a spot for the return of JJ around the bye week I'll be happy...especially one Autry comes back from suspension.
