Rankins played very well, and deserved to be extended.
Singletary exceeded expectations and deserved to be extended.

To name two. It's like you people just talk but you're not saying anything that makes sense. It's out of sorts with reality. You and Nick are in the excuse-making business, not the ass-kicking business I want this team to be in!

We settled for a JAG named Settle. You can't make this stuff up. He's decent as a rotation guy, but isn't an upgrade on either of the two guys at DT last year. DT just went to the head of the class in the 2024 draft.
 
The one position I would tread lightly with is RB, but Nick pulls out the greenbacks for Mixon before he even steps foot on the field. That's interesting...not sure it's in a good way. But interesting. I need to think about that one as it's pretty shocking for ole tricky Nicky.

You nailed it. Nobody thinks he's worth 17m per except ,the Jags. 3 yrs for an injury prone run stopper. I'm glad Carsterio stuck to his price tag

You know what doesn’t make sense? Someone saying JAGs and journeymen like Singletary and Rankins are deserving of being extended b/c they were good last year when we were TERRIBLE at both running the ball and defending against the run last year with a last place schedule.

Singletary didn’t deserve ****, he didn’t even crack a 1000 yds rushing and didn’t even start the season as the starter. Giants overpaid for him this year for the same reason we went after him last year…b/c there will be no qualms about replacing/getting rid of him as soon as they get a suitable younger replacement and return back to competing. Feel how u feel about Mixon, but he’s a definite upgrade over Singletary. Rankins…… again not worth the 26 mil he got from Cincy. We paid 6 mil less for a guy in Autry that essentially produced as much as both Rankins AND Collins combined.

Settle is just a JAG, but there is still plenty of time and opportunity to nab another guy if your approval. now SETTLE down :brando:..lol:

Hopefully settle will settle down the opponents Rush. I wonder if he is a Rush fan?
 
I would not use Settle as a direct comparison to Collins. He is getting 2 years/7 million. He’s a depth signing. If he’s an upgrade over Hinish, that’s what they are looking for there.

Autry is the direct comparison to Collins/Rankins and he’s played better than both. And cheaper than Rankins.

They still need the starting DT to replace Collins. Unless they are planning on Foley to be that guy but I think he’s another DT3 type.

My dad is a huge Virginia Tech fan and always raved about Settle. Buffalo plays a “stay at home” 4-3 role opposite of Oliver. I think Cap can get more than this out of him, and if not he’s another good run stopping option.

My spidey senses feels like Newton or Murphy is in play at 23 or a trade up for the one they like the most. Demeco believes in first round defensive lineman and with us missing on Armstead I just have this feeling.

I agree with much of what you posted. I would like to see them draft a rb in the 3rd to compliment Mixon. Autry is a upgrade much like Hunter over Greenard

Not really. It's a 60% passing league. You can start Autry and Fatukasi and rotate the other dts assuming they don't draft someone like Sweat

with the additions to this team to shore up some deficiencies on defense, I think that’s very much in play as an option now…but maybe not until the 4th with a developmental guy. I think they’re gonna give Pierce 1 more crack at it this year to see if he can break thru. If not, he’s gone after this year and the 4th round developmental guy can step in immediately with a year under his belt in the system.

I was thinking the same thing about Settle. Under the radar guy who has more in his game that has been shown so far. I mean, he backing up Payne and Allen then moved over to the Bills where he backed up Oliver and DaQuan Jones, so he really hasn't gotten a chance to show how good he is.

With this said, I really like Sweat as a better fit next to Autry than Newton. But I think Newton will probably end up being the better player. Signing Settle sounds like he can help solve the run stuffing issues, so this should put Newton back in play. Do jones fractures reoccur in such large human being would be my only question before drafting Newton.

Nobody called both Stingley and Green as the Texans 1st rd picks as far as I know and I keep up with this stuff more closely than the avg fan.

Please note that is an older study. Medicine has improved by leaps & bounds. There has been a OT that returned successfully recently and more

Dang, I had lost this discussion, couldn't find it and then thought I had found it and it had been edited to indicate Howard could be back by training camp.

Now I'm back to being more pessimistic about his return. I'm staying with thinking the Texans need to draft a RT either in the 1st or 2nd round.
 
I know some are disappointed because we didn't sign Arik.. but have we forgotten that Ryans was over there for first hand knowledge and might know something and not put heart over his team?

Actually, all 5 people of the round table on Sauce Sports called it...its also been known that Lance's buddy John Lopez has stolen material and monikers that have come off that channel.

So the team that attempted to trade for Aric knows something bad about him and they didnt want him. Now the excuse-o-meter is now permanently broken.

They will probably pickup a swing OT in FA and draft another late in the draft depending on what they think of Zierer. I like the Packers Yosh Nijman.

Why can't you guys just admit it. There is no plan. The plan, such as it was...failed. And what happened to DeMeco telling us they had to get better upfront and they would be pouring resources into the line. They are dumping salary, not adding. At the very least, they need to turn their attention to safety and make a major upgrade. Simmons would be an awesome consolation prize. But I don't get this series of moves at all. On the interior D-Line, Nick's grade is a flat F.

I don't think Pierce is in the equation as a rb. He might be the next Brian Mitchell as a KR where he can see the holes from afar, but his vision isn't quick enough nor is he patient enough to be successful in this scheme. When they brought in Singletary, I knew he was trouble. I mean we've watched Steve Slaton run for 1200 behind a shoddy line as a rookie. Them dudes know exactly the type of runner they need in this offense. Kyrein Williams ran for 1100 as a 2nd yr player in LA. James Cook did it in Buffalo. It doesn't take long to find a guy with the proper traits.

Yeah thats quite the price tag for Armstead...still think the price tag for Ridley was even worse...that was just insane.

Not sure there are any good remaining OT's left in FA so draft may be the only answer to that equation at this point. Not sure I could pass up B. Murphy if he's there at 23 though...

If we can secure a good S or a good CB in FA then I wouldnt mind Guyton at 23 then best WR left in round 2...possibly Leggette?? 3rd round RB and 4th TE or vice versa with 3rd and 4th depending on who is there. RB from Tenn looks good and would like to get Theo Johnson as TE.

KC is a great case study for how to handle your OL. They had big money tied up in Fisher and Schwartz at OT, but quickly dumped them both along with their center to help manage the cap, just as Mahomes’ mega contract began to toll.

They paid those guys right through the rookie contract of Mahomes because of course you protect your young QB, even if there are a few knocks on the play of those OL, they are experienced vets, but there does come a time to move on.

The Chiefs also chose to move on from Tyreek a year later, but did continue to pay Pats’ true release valve (Kelce) who is what really makes their offence tick.

Reid and the front office over there have consistently invested in the Defence once Mahomes was tied up. Happy to move on from skill players on O and trust Pat to get them the ball, but the D needs talent.
