2024 Free Agency

Nah. At this rate Houston is going to be the first team to play all downs with an empty backfield
TBF, we did operate more than I expected with an empty backfill and Stroud was really good. Again my suggestion of using tight end Jordin as a running back is a possibility.

This kid is primed for a breakout & b/c he already knows the system, he can hit the ground running immediately; no learning curve. Titans fans are upset they lost this guy.

Does this mean @steelbtexan will stop complaining now that he's got a guy he's wanting?... Nah

Don’t understand why folks are so upset Singletary is gone…his little production can be replaced. And since my guy Jacob’s is off the market, I like the idea of signing swift. Quicker and more elusive than Singletary. Cashman I was never a fan of resigning, Greenatd I think I knew was gonna get paid by someone so he was as good as gone, Autry is a damn nice replacement for him tho. I believe this will be his 3rd AFC south team he’lol be playing for..believe he started with the colts…all and all, I like how Nick is attacking this FA. good deals for vet guys, but leaving enough room for younger guys in the draft to come and replace them.

Swift is no longer an available option...hasnt been for hours now.

Swift agreed to terms with Chicago 5 minutes into the tampering period

I think DeAndre Swift was signed already.

He had one kick it looks like. Seems like we basically swapped out with a little bit better average per punt.

Not to be nitpickey throwing punter stats around but Townsend has a higher touchback percentage and lower inside the 20 percentage than Johnston while yards per punt are about the same.

Awesome! I bet this guy may be able to kick the ball hard when he doesn't have to catch it first... He can probably swing his leg in a similar motion and kick the stationary ball without any concern for defensive pressure... if needed Amazing!!

A punter takes a roster spot and does nothing else... It is freakin' absurd that Johnston couldn't fill the role as the backup place kicker (at least for the freakin' kickoffs!!)

Thanks guys..I didn’t know swift was gone already…in that case, I’m good with us rolling into next season with a young rookie then. There’s no position in the league where a young player can make an impact quicker than at running back. Go get the kid outta Kentucky Nick!

Seems to be the trend...we've signed 2 other titans...might as well make it a trifecta...and he's the last good back available...so they better DO SOMETHING at this point.

My quick look at all the rosters says that the Texans and Ravens are the only two with lead back spots with henry and Aaron Jones. We will see if that is the option or signing AJ diilion, Zach moss, clyde edawrd combe.

last year he was and not by a wide margin. Al-Shaair has been the better more consistent player throughout their careers tho.
Yeah, by a wide margin, but I get the injury concern. He plays like a young Perryman. Teams will isolate on him, but hopefully he improves by alot.

Lol, The PFF grade may say that, but the film don’t…but then again, PFF grades L’jarius Sneed and Steven Nelson as the same last year.

Well 1 of these guys is regarded as an all-pro snub and will be getting paid big time by someone this year as a shut down cb, the other will be looking for work wherever he can find it for substantially less.

Don’t underestimate what fit and surrounding talent can do for a player. Cashman got the benefit of that last year, we’ll see what Al-Shaair can do with those advantages this year.

It doesn't matter who I want, it matters who Ryans wants for HIS defense.

Are you happy with basically adding a couple of 2nd tier FA's and a bunch of ST's guys?

Well if that happened I would say it's turned out to be a pretty good day. I still think some funniest thing in free agency so far has been Dion Dawkins castigating fans and then extending with Buffalo.

Hunter is the consummate professional and if they’re able to bring him here, he’d be a perfect fit culture wise. He’s also 1 of the most underrated edge guys in the league b/c he’s so professional and quiet. Even his sack celebration is toned down. Also stays healthy…& That front 4 would be nasty AF with Autry kicking inside with Maliek.

I don't thing this is pessimistic to say: but I think the championship window for the Texans starts in 2025, and I think Casserio does as well and is operating accordingly. That doesn't mean it is impossible next year but the recognition that there are still too many needs (if you are looking for a core of talent to make a 3-5 year run), they still need a significant amount of "core," and a team doesn't accomplish that by throwing top free agent money at every need... I see them being calculating, looking for value to either bridge the gap until younger talent arrives or taking inexpensive shots with guys who could become a core piece... This also puts them in a stronger position in the draft. Instead of being pigeon-holed into using early picks on a specific position, they will have more freedom to execute a plan to collect the talent they "love."

Also, team culture is very important to this staff (real culture-not the rich, white, Christian bullshit from the mcnair family). They aren't going to make significant free agent moves without carefully considering how it will impact the team's culture.

and yall wanna talk about Barkley being injury prone, but just dismiss it with other players...I dont understand yall AT ALL.

Barkley's injury history matters more because he would cost more... and more of the offense would be built around, and dependent, upon him. People that don't want that, like myself, want to see a moderately priced vet and another significant contributor (either in free agency) or the first 4 rounds of the draft.

Not that it matters now since he's and eagle...but u might wanna go back and look at missed games and injury history...the drop off in talent and the fact that mixon himself is injury prone doesnt even compare....less than mediocre vs an elite talent...We lost and we lost big time....people just dont like to admit it.
