2023 TEXANS DRAFT DISCUSSION

Paid doesn't matter. If he committed to be there and then didn't keep his commitment, that is a problem. If he was a no-show, that is a bigger problem.
Character matters.
Have the principals (Peyton, Eli, or CJ) commented on this? Actually, I thought Stroud did comment on this last month in an interview. Sounds like an effort to dig up dirt on Stroud, and it's just not there.

That very well could be the case. If he didn't actually commit, then shame on the guy trying to claim he did

CJ is having his people comment on it. Also he was on the roster to be at the camp. It is written that he didn’t attend.

I'm not a hater, but I'm borderline with this Mulagetta guy lol. What a freaking tool. He's not good for the game at large.

As to the incident with the Manning camp, to me there's just not enough there to make a judgment. I'm sure the Texans have the info and will react accordingly.

I am already of the mindset that the Texans aren't taking CJ at #2. He'll land at Indy most likely. Nick/Demeco better be right on that call, or Demeco will catch holy hell, and Nick might be catching a flight back to Boston to beg Hoodie for his old job.

Texans have to take the highest floor QB now.

Can't rely on FA to grab a good QB. Team is going to improve, so put Maye and Williams in the rearview due to draft positioning. They are setup for QB Hell moving past this year.

Personally feels like they have a much better shot at using draft capital to grab Marvin Harrison Jr, Brock Bowers, or an edge like Dallas Turner next year then the QB prospects.

790 in Houston was just talking about how they are hearing chatter about an "obsession" over Hooker who I am very much indifferent on. Great base, accurate to first read in which he is great at knowing where the ball should go. If the first read is not there, he tends to look to run. Basically a 1 read player( He looks like Jared Goff with more athletic ability for what its worth).

Would rather take Stroud, hope for the best. Take best defensive player at 12 or trade up for him.

Use pick 33 on a WR, and use next year's capital to get a good offensive weapon.

One more week to go!!!!

Some of the stuff said on 610 this morning:

"As part of the evaluation, we are trying to get a gauge of what they were coached to do and how they absorb information," Caserio told Sports Radio 610 Thursday morning. "You are trying to learn as much about them and their nuances.

"When we are just watching the game or tape, we really do not know what happens on the play. Whatever they articulate to you is a part of the evaluation. It's not just for quarterbacks but all positions. It gives you a chance to learn a lot about the player."

Caserio said the evaluation process for each player begins as soon as they enter NRG Stadium. The prospect will meet with different groups of team personnel members. And at the end of the day, the different parties will get together and compare their collected feedback.

He revealed there was one instance this spring when a prospect made some "less than flattering comments" about his college coach during his Top-30 visit.

"That speaks to who he is as a person," Caserio said. "Maybe he did not realize what he was saying. But if he is in the building, will he take ownership if something goes wrong? Or will it be someone else fault? It's part of the evaluation. We are trying to paint a clear picture of who we think the player is going to be."

Caserio said his scouting department has done an unbelievable job collecting "below the surface" information on every player.

All of David Mulugheta's players chimed in with the same coordinated script attacking Brady Quinn. If anyone bothers to listen to the entire Brady Quinn podcast, it is pretty evident that he was only and strongly complementary of CJ Stroud. He just as an aside mentioned that he had heard the criticism of Stroud, but distinctly questioned it's validity. The Mulugheta machine busy at work.

That man did what his client wanted. That’s his job

Part of me wonders if the smear is to get him passed by the Texans. He might not want to play here.

The defenders are coming out so he doesn't drop too far. They just need to get past 2. lol

I wonder how many Texans fans feel it in their gut that they are going to overthink this draft and screw the pooch.

CJ drops to Indy and he whips the Texans butt twice a year is what I expect. lol

The same people that will advocate for the Texans to trade him if ANYTHING goes wrong.

Stroud is demanding a trade elsewhere after his rookie deal is up.

I just have a hard time fearing one of those "great" Ohio State QB's. The dude played in a powerhouse team wrapped in a protective blanket of OL "bubble wrap" and to me that's the single biggest knock I can think of on either of them (Young or Stroud). they were escorted to victory by depth most of their opponents could only dream of having. Google "Great Ohio State QB's in the NFL" or "Great Alabama QB's in the NFL" and bask in the glory of a bunch of guys who amounted to nothing (past Bart Starr, Joe Namath, and Ken Stabler). Sure, sometimes one works out but it's just not that common. More often they were carried to success instead of the other way around.

If they don't draft Stroud, Young or Anderson at #2, they overthought the draft. Picking any one of those three would at least give me a little reassurance that they won't screw up the rest of the draft. If they draft anyone else at #2 next Thursday, I'm immediately turning the TV off and going to bed. I don't even want to see who they draft at #12.

They announce Bijan Robinson at #2 and you're not going to even get a little bit excited?

I hear you on this, but Joe Burrow was an Ohio State QB who was beaten out by Haskins. Pretty much kills this argument. QB's making it has always been a crapshoot. The best one of all time went in the 6th round for heaven's sake. Aaron Rodgers was late in the 1st. Patrick Mahomes came from Tech which was known as a place where QB prospects were largely ignored due to their system.

You have to judge these guys as new prospects no matter where they came from and judge them on tape.

Flick on the Georgia game for all QB's that are predicted to be drafted in the first two rounds.

Young- Looked Great
Stroud- Looked Great
Anthony Richardson- Looked ok when the game was in hand
Will Levis- Not very good
Hooker- Not that great

So if anyone is going to hold Stroud's feet to the fire about missing something Manning related it would be the Colts. While talking hypothetically, Stroud then drops to at least 5.

Avoid at all costs

So at Ohio State a guy beat out Joe Burrow was basically sitting on a ceiling of "Steelers 2nd string QB" but he was 13-1 on college and put up 54 TD's to 9 INT's. Any of them could work out. Clearly almost none of them do and even the ones that are exceedingly average are highly successful at these powerhouse schools. I bet Haskins "Looked Great" too most of the time.

You don't know what his agent told him, unless you were a fly on the wall.
I do know he blamed the victims as soon as the first lawsuits came out. Publicly. I know that. I know the Mulugheta camp tried to paint Cal as a racist who didn’t do enough for social Justice issues, even though his own client was preying on women which happened to also include Black women.

He’s a POS who deserves no defense.

What was Richardson's completion ratio after escaping those sacks? How many of those escapes were him running and what was the average yard per carry?

It seems to me like talking about a poop sandwich and exclaiming how good the olives were on it. The whole sandwich should be discussed.

Yeah, its like saying a 350lb woman has nice elbows.

Yeah, apparently sexual deviancy is to be preferred over racism.🙄

Tyree Wilson is very much in play. Personally, I like his upside better, but Anderson is the safer/expected pick (if they don't go QB)
