2023 TEXANS DRAFT DISCUSSION

If both the Broncos & Cardinals lose, the Colts remain @ #5. The Colts are the team with the highest draft spot combined with the need for a QB. The question is, do the Bears want to drop that far in a trade down from #1? The Seahawks, who own the Broncos 1st, and the Cards will be looking at the top two defenders (Anderson & Carter). I can see 3 scenarios play out:

1. Bears decide to not risk missing on their guy, and take Anderson or Carter #1.
2. Bears swing a deal with the Colts and move down to #5, then take Texas Tech's Tyree Wilson.
3. Bears blackmail Texans into trading up to #1, and still get their guy at #2.

If this is the case, the Texans still have a 66% chance at Bryce Young.

I think Chicago isn’t trading their pick and they aren’t taking a QB. Mulugheta will NOT let that happen and won’t want his client in Chicago likely seeing as he is eventually getting Fields out of there.

At this point I can hardly give two f’ers to care. This team is the biggest downer in history. They could kill the mood like Rosanne walking into your secret liaison when the photo was a French model. Right now too pissed to care.

You don't think Seattle needs a QB? Do you think they're content with Geno Smith?

Really?

Now Lance Zierline (sp) doesn't know how this works?
I don't think Lance has taken into account how desperate teams behave and what they will do. All it takes is one team and like almost every year that one team is out there.

Adding to this, it feels to me like the top two QBs in this class are more highly-regarded than Goff and Wentz were. The offer for the Bears pick starts at 2 firsts, 2 seconds, and 2 thirds, and might go up from there.

Says who?!?

If a GM called the Mannings for a scouting report on Bryce Young the GM will draft Young.

So? You just lived thru it last year in a major desperation move. What's your point? Thick skull?
I think Lance understands what he's talking about. I happen to have the same opinion. & I've considered that some people are going to fall in love with a prospect.

I doubt any team in the top 10 will consider drafting Bryce Young. I doubt any team is going to trade up into the top 10 to draft Young. He's going to go later than 12 imo if the Texans don't take him at 12, but I don't think the Texans are interested in a QB. But 12 would also be a "good" spot for Levis.

Charity dude. Charity.

Make no mistake, there will be 3 or 4 handfuls of teams that will take Young off their board for all the size reasons being discussed. Then there will be 4 or 5 handfuls of teams who will not. Then there will be 2 or 3 teams who would've him at the top of their board.

It all depends on who's the HC for next season. Until we know that for sure, we don't know the direction the Texans are (will be) headed in, which determines the draft. If it's Lovie, god help us all and call in the ambulances.
Whoopee, another backyard BBQ with all the assistant coaches playing Wheel of Fortune type of draft.

Surely you jest. It sounds just like something he would do.
IfCaserio has a QB he loves I hope he moves up and gets him. What did the 49ers give up to move up and get Lance? If Caserio doesn't move up I sure hope he doesn't pick a QB at 1-2 if he doesn't love the guy. Just pick the bpa and bring in a vet QB if there's not a guy he loves.

The problem here is Caserio doesn't know diddly squat about any stinking QBs.

To be honest... I don't care much about what happens until I hear the magical words "Lovie is gone"

If Lovie remains, I won't be upset if it happens again in 2024.... rather I will expect it.
Agreed, I hope Gannon is the next HC and he brings Reich and Zimmer with him. Reich and Johnson would be very good to mentor the new QB.

It's going to be easier for the Bears to make a deal for the Colts pick @ #4.

Sure, but how are Carroll and Schneider going to look at it? Are they in a win now mode? Taking the d-lineman makes the most sense. Does the rebuild start now, and go with the rookie QB? If it were Bryce Young in play, I think they would go QB. I don't see them having conviction on Stroud or Levis. Taking Richardson with their 2nd 1st would let the Seahawks play it both ways.
Really?

Rather than use the term "first QB under 200 lbs", insert "top rated QB in the draft". Then trading up for him will make a lot more sense.

I'll be real happy with Levis if QB is the direction we're going in.
I want to see what he does in the combine. A little weary of 'tools' prospects without the requisite college resume backing it up, but big upside with Levis. I wouldn't want him playing right away though - he's got to be developed right. The Texans are not a year away this team can afford to bring him along slowly.

I agree here. I see the Colts going all-in for a QB in this draft. The history with Manning and Luck, and the fact that they've been floating rudderless is QB purgatory these last few years, despite a core team which is playoffs ready. I predict the Colts will trade up with Bears an swap 1st round position, and Bears will get another #1 + #2 and more.
