I don't know man, holding Aaron Rodgers and that offense to 10 points, blocking a FG and a punt, and getting 7 from the latter there, I'd say the defense and special teams were clutch. Of course Robbie Gould hitting a 45 yard game winner in that weather, also pretty clutch.
I would be happy to see long suffering Matt Stafford win a ring, but then again, it would be nice to see Bills win one after 4 disappointments in years gone by.I'd like to see the Bills and Rams win today to continue the underdogs win streak. Listening to a Mahommey and Brady laden SB and all the gushing by football experts is more than I can stand.
JB was Joe Cool and I love the combo he has with his old partner in crime JC.What's up my Texans brothers ?? You knew I had to make an appearance right ??
Love that the intelligence of Texans fans and their hatred of the Titans were calling for a Bengals win.
What I don't agree with was that it was an "upset". Why, because they were the #1 seed? Who cares?
This Bengals team doesn't care about the past and isn't concerned about what the talking heads say.
It's really fun to watch this team play because they truly believe the next play is THE play.
3rd and 24? Let's get the 1st down. Down 14 to the Chiefs? Time to go to work. 9 sacks? Watch this.
The difference people wonder. It should be obvious. Joe Burrow and Jamarr Chase pairing back up.
Pick what narrative they want, but do not count these guys out. They want to win and expect it.
Those two picks changed everything with this team and everyone picked them to finish last in the North.
ArmyBengal Jr. is now 15 and we were at the Raiders game to see the curse broken. Such a great game.
We watched the game yesterday and lets be honest. If the Bengals had any semblance of an o-line, that game isn't close.
I called for a win by 10, but will take that any day. Did you hear the kicker McPherson called his shot?
Before the rookie trots out for a 52 yarder to win the game he looks at the bench and tells the guys....
"Guess we are going to the AFC Championship" BOOM and there we go.
He's been huge all season and led the league in 50+ yard FG's. The swagger is real and fun as a fan.
How about DJ Reader living in the Titans backfield all night long? I was so happy when he came to the Bengals.
I knew he was a good player due to how much we follow the Texans in our house. Happy for him.
For those who may be wondering what they do against either the Chiefs or the Bills, DON'T think about it.
They don't know they aren't suppose to be there and don't read into any narrative.
There thing has been if we execute, it doesn't matter who we play.
If they lose, it will have been an amazing season I won't regret, but it's not over yet.
Hope to see my boys keep moving on and hope my #2 Texans pull their stuff together.
Root for my boys, they are a fun team and full of talented guys.
Hoping nothing but the best for all of you. Take care !!!

Or the Bengals after not winning a playoff game in 30 years. I wouldn't mind seeing any of those 3 teams win the Super Bowl. The other 3? Not so much.I would be happy to see long suffering Matt Stafford win a ring, but then again, it would be nice to see Bills win one after 4 disappointments in years gone by.
So the biggest thing I got from these two games is that you don't have to build a perfect team to get to and advance in the playoffs. You absolutely need some playmakers in each phase of the game and kicker with some nerve, but idea let's fill every hole on our team before we can expect to win anything might not reflect reality especially years without that perfect in your conference.
You do realized that they needed him all game? If that punt isn't blocked for a TD, exactly when was he going to step up?They certainly were. Like I said jimmy G played like crap, but he was able to turn it around when his team needed it most. Most guys can't do that and that's something you don't see when you look at a bunch of PFF stats.

The biggest thing I got out of this game is that the haters who say Mills can never be good enough to get us to a conference championship game (and beyond) are WRONG. I believe Mills already has the talent and potential to be much better than Jimmy Garoppolo and that guy is one win from a SB.
People get hung up on Mills getting picked in the 3rd round.. None of that matters now. If He was our 1st round pick, I'd still be very pleased with his rookie campaign..

You think Garoppolo won that game? The 9ers won that game because their defense was bad ass (Texans D is not), they’ve got playmakers on offense (Texans do not), and the special teams capitalized on the Packers ST unit being garbage. Yeah, if Mills has all of those things he probably could win some games. But he doesn’t, so he won’t.
You do realized that they needed him all game? If that punt isn't blocked for a TD, exactly when was he going to step up?
My eyes tell me in a QB driven league. This year, the 49ers have won two playoff games with Jimmy G throwing 0 TDs and 2 INTs. A couple of years ago, they won a NFCCG with him throwing 8 passes for 77 yards.
Watching him play average football and his team continues to win is a great reminder that football is the ultimate team game and although fans always want to give all the credit to the QB, he doesn't win or lose in a vacuum.
In today's NFL, not many QBs can get credit for winning games while putting up such pedestrian numbers. It's interesting that a guy who has thrown more playoff INTs than TDs and often times, his HC has to take the air out of the ball to keep him from making a crucial mistake is considered clutch.
Fine. Point still remains, a mediocre QB can still win with a solid team around him.If you think that I think Garoppolo won the game.. obviously you haven't read this thread![]()
KC/Bucs or KC/9ers, the 2 worst matchups I’d want to see, so book it that it will be one of those 2.
I never believed the Bengals were underdogs either, actually was surprised the game was that close. Titans were the worst #1 seed I can remember right now.. Fraudulent. Hell, even we beat their ass.. almost pulled off another win

Agree. In today's pass happy NFL. If a QB can throw 8 passes and his team still wins a NFCCG then any QB with a solid team and coaching can win or get to a Super Bowl.Fine. Point still remains, a mediocre QB can still win with a solid team around him.

It's much harder to maintain a solid team and be contenders year in and year out. That's why you need the top end QB who can cover up deficiencies. When/If Rodgers leaves the Packers next season, they won't even make the playoffs. The Steelers are done contending unless they land a QB. The Saints are no longer contenders. The Bucs were nothing until Brady got there. And then look at the Browns. They have a ton of talent, but their mediocre QB can't even make them contenders. So even the solid team/mediocre QB thing doesn't guarantee anything.
You can win with a solid team and a mediocre QB, but it's few and far between and much harder to maintain. The teams that are mostly in it year in and year out, have the top end QB. The solid team with a mediocre QB are sprinkled in here and there.
The Texans don't have anything around Mills right now. Mills could be Peyton in his prime and still not be contenders, that's how bad of shape they're in. Hell, they won just 4 games with Watson 2 years ago. So I think it's disengenuous to say "see, if Garoppolo can do it, so can Mills". Garoppoplo has a ton around him. Mills has nothing. Maybe he will some day, but right now they're a ways away from being a mediocre team, never mind being a solid one.
I didn't think either game yesterday was a huge surprise. I didn't feel like the Titans were that good and Bengals are hot right now.
Packers vs Niners I could see going either way and with the Niners style of being able to run the ball in a close game anything can happen and a couple special teams plays swung it in their favor.
Buffalo beat KC earlier this year when the Chiefs were out of sorts so this should be a great game and its hard to go against the Chiefs in Arrowhead.
Bucs vs Rams should be good too you have Mr Clutch in Brady going against Stafford who won his first playoff game last week. Bucs are beat up which should be a concern for them in this one.
Remember Brady's first 3 Super Bowls? You do realized that they needed him all game? If that punt isn't blocked for a TD, exactly when was he going to step up?
I think it's disingenuous to insinuate anyone said this, especially without building the team around him.So I think it's disengenuous to say "see, if Garoppolo can do it, so can Mills".
By compete I mean compete for a Super Bowl. We've got division banners littering NRG, but other than maybe '11, we've never been a contender for a SB. Yes, I realize winning a division gets you to the dance, but teams can win a division with 7, 8 wins. That doesn't make them SB contenders. They hit on the right picks with the capital they're about to get, depending on how Mills develops/improves next season they can compete for this division (especially this division) as soon as next season, if not the next.
I've been to Titan and Colts boards and many would already take Mills over their collective quarterback situations right now.. They think he can be a franchise quarterback.. Here we're hung up on his draft position. I think it's a "too close to the trees to see the forest" situation. Given ability and talent, I don't see why Mills isn't capable of developing into that guy.

And if Mills develops into something, great. I couldn't care less where he was drafted. People put an emphasis on that because unless you're drafted in the 1st round, you usually don't get the same opportunities as those drafted in later rounds. Mills is in a situation where he's going to be given every opportunity. And people always default to Tom Brady-6th round. Well, if Bledsoe never got hurt, does anybody ever know who Tom Brady is? Brady got the opportunity and ran with it. Maybe Mills can do that too. Of course, Brady had a team around him and a great HC. Mills doesn't have any of that going for him yet.
Those fans are speaking with their emotions mostly. Mills played a couple of good games period and a few half games here or there. The best thing Mills did was get better as the season went along. The GM here isn't proclaiming anything about Mills and based the total body of work, he shouldn't IMO.
The Titans and Colts know what they have at home already so the young thing over here looks better, but really hasn't done that much.
I think Mills is better than Garoppolo right now. I don't know that he's got Garoppolo's poise or guts, but time will tell.Try to keep up with the conversation. Thanks.
Some are now.. people were posting that before the playoffs even started.. before their losses.
I think Mills is better than Garoppolo right now. I don't know that he's got Garoppolo's poise or guts, but time will tell.
That does not mean I think Mills could lead the 2021 Texans to a Super Bowl or even get them in the playoff hunt.
I think Carrbomb is saying the same thing.
Like Garoppolo, Mills will give us time to find our Trey Lance
Doesn't change anything that I said.
Mills may have only started 11 games at Stanford, but he did get a higher level of coaching for 4 seasons. He was more pro ready than Jimmy G entering the league. Arm talent? Mobility? Pretty close.I saw enough from Davis Mills to see why he should get a chance to be a 2nd year starter, but I am not convinced that he is on a different tier talent wise than Jimmy G. In terms of draft position Jimmy G was 62nd overall and Mills was 67. Might be an indication that their talent is regraded as closer than not by the NFL.

You're always right, Thorn. How dare we question you.Either way, that still makes him an excellent 3rd round pick which is what I've been saying all along.
Or, Mills turns out to be the real deal. Either way, that still makes him an excellent 3rd round pick which is what I've been saying all along. Backups as good as Mills are coveted and tradeable if that's all he ends up being.
Green Bay used to stockpile them.
Matt Flynn says hello.
