2018 NFL Draft

I’d be super happy with Riley Ferguson QB Memphis. Memphis ran a lot of plays similar to what we ran when Watson was lighting it up.

Just draft philosophy from the NE Head Caoch

“Well, again, the whole draft need thing is — I don’t really understand that,” Belichick said. “You put a card up on the board. That doesn’t mean the guy is a good player. I think it’s important to acquire good players wherever they are. If you take a player at a position that you might so called “need” but he’s not good enough to fill that need, then it’s a wasted pick. So, I don’t understand the whole need thing. I understand player value, and that’s what we try to go by.”

I understand what he's saying, but there's no doubt that he's aiming to fill needs at the same time. A great pick at a position that you're stacked 3 deep at is just as wasted.

Edit: OK, not just as wasted - you've got a future asset with trade value or he makes other players tradable/expendable. But it's a balance and ignoring team needs is silly.

• There will be some trades in this draft that might seem one-sided. Several team officials told me in the past few days that they value Day 2 picks (rounds two and three) so highly that they’d be willing to take slightly less in compensation to move down. Where could this come into play? Cleveland (four), Indianapolis (six), Baltimore (16), Seattle (18), New England (23, 31), New Orleans (27), Philadelphia (32). “This is not your typical draft,” said one veteran club official Sunday. “The second, third and even fourth rounds are gold. You can take less than the trade-value chart says and still make a very good trade if you get multiple picks in those rounds.”

Mobile, pretty strong arm and pretty good accuracy and has promise............and should be available for us if we're interested as a type of QB that at some point in time could backup Watson.

    Alex McGough, QB, Florida International
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 220.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.74.
    Projected Round (2018): 6-FA.

3/10/18: McGough has some arm talent and is athletically gifted. In 2017, he completed 65 percent of his passes for 2,798 yards with 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Unfortunately, McGough broke his collarbone in the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl. That injury prevented playing in an all-star game and could restrict his pre-draft workouts. McGough completed 58 percent of his passes in 2016 for 1,891 yards with 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. As a sophomore, he completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,722 yards with 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

..............................
FYI, he broke his LEFT collar bone. He is a righty. Should not have any long-term throwing implications
..............................
somebody find out who he's throwing to. Dude caught every ball and caught them with his hands away from his body
:D

Josh Allen’s offensive high school tweets unearthed
Posted by Darin Gantt on April 26, 2018, 6:21 AM EDT

Well, it wasn’t a gas mask bong this year.

Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen has some last-minute explaining to do, after the Internet exhumed some offensive tweets from his high school days.

The tweets, all of which have since been deleted, were published by Yahoo Sports. Some contain some racially insensitive, and well, just stupid messages. The kind of things dumb high school kids say, if those high school kids grow up without realizing there are certain words they don’t get to say, even if they use the casual version that ends with an “-a” (though there were a few that include the full “N” word).

He also tweeted: “I hate LeBron!!!!! #LeBronSucks” in 2011, which is only a problem in that it is empirically wrong and bad form if he ends up in Cleveland.

Most of the posts come from 2012 and 2013, when Allen was in high school in rural Firebaugh, Ca.....................................................................................................................................................

..............................................................There’s also something disturbing about anyone going through the tweets of a teenager looking for smear material, as has happened in recent years to athletes and others. But when people go looking for the spotlight of social media, eventually it’s going to shine back on them, and illuminate every fault.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't wins up getting ' Tunsaled', maybe into the 20 s. Probably won't happen, but could. The draft is such a scrap shoot ya never know how it will go.

I am going to see "Avengers: Infinity War" tonight. I hope to god I don't come out of that movie to find the Texans have traded up into the first round unless another team literally gifted them a 1st round pick.

I thought I wouldn’t watch round 1 today, but hear I sit, glued to the tv. I’ve always enjoyed the draft

Me to. I care a helleva lot less about it then I used to though. Casserly and Rick made sure of that.

What network of the 3 are you watching? (NFL, ESPN, FOX)? I'm giving Fox a shot first.

Nevermind, it's a NFL/FOX simulcast.

Do people even know why they boo the commissioner anymore, lol. Feels like that’s been going on forever

I would have taken Barkley #1 and a QB I with the #4. This will be like Portland taking Bowie over Jordan.

Denzel Ward corner to Browns #4.. good player but no one guessed that.

edit: just found out Andre Johnson will announce Texans 4th round selection.

Yes. I’m not a fan of Guards in the top 10. They should have gone defense.

I don't believe in drafting guards supper high either but...

With lucks health, the jags front and ours, it was a good move I think.

Maybe Luck will be coming back! If no quarterback in round two for them, then they must think he is going to make it. Mmmmmm

I look at value. The difference you see in Nelson versus an interior lineman in the 2nd is smaller than a defender they could have taken at #6 and one taken in the 2nd.

Fair point. And Nelson isn't anyone coaches are going to lose sleep over.

I think it was a solid pick and makes sense though.

If "i" pick a guard in the top 10 he better be HOF in most instances.

WR Martavis Bryant traded from Steelers for pick # 75 to Raiders; wonder how that might effect our # 80?

edit: NFL corrected pick was #79 but my question remains.

Wow there goes my Rashaad Penny RB to Seattle..got a lot of wows from the talking heads being picked this high #27.

Classy move by Pittsburgh having Ryan Shazier (spine injury) to announce selecting Terrell Edmunds safety.
