2016 FirstPick Draft Simulator

Marshall

Not pretty, but ALIVE!
Just thought I'd throw this up there. Used 1-10 and 2017 1st to move to 1-1. This should interest Texian since we get both his top QB picks AND pick up an emergency backup with Braxton Miller. Getting good line help, a kicker and JJ's Brother isn't bad either.

Round 1 Pick 1 (CHI): Jared Goff, QB, California (A)
Round 2 Pick 10: Cody Whitehair, OG, Kansas State (A)
Round 3 Pick 10: Dan Voltz, C, Wisconsin (A+)
Round 4 Pick 10: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State (A)
Round 5 Pick 9: Curt Maggitt, OLB, Tennessee (A+)
Round 6 Pick 10: Braxton Miller, WR, Ohio State (A)
Round 7 Pick 12: Derek Watt, FB, Wisconsin (B+)
Round 7 Pick 23: Brad Craddock, K, Maryland (B-)

My first attempt, and best I've ever done on this game.

Round 1 Pick 10: Jared Goff, QB, California (A+)
Round 2 Pick 13 (DET): Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State (A+)
Round 3 Pick 10: Denver Kirkland, OT, Arkansas (A)
Round 4 Pick 10: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State (A)

Not quite as high a score, but it get's a top 2 QB in Connor Cook as well as Texians first choice as his backup. It doesn't hurt to get a receiver Conner is familiar with either.

Yes, you can make seemingly endless trades on firstpick that would never happen in real life.

Yes, you can do that.

Goff, Cook, and Wentz were gone for me also.

Your score is: 7320 (GRADE: A-)

Round 1 Pick 22: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State (A) -- Foster replacement unit.
Round 2 Pick 22: Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State (A-) -- Prescott sits learns behind Savage in 2016
Round 3 Pick 32 (CAR): Bryce Williams, TE, East Carolina (B) -- Graham or Fiedorowicz is gone.
Round 4 Pick 22: Antonio Morrison, ILB, Florida (C) -- Looking for depth at ILB
Round 4 Pick 32 (CAR): Nile Lawrence-Stample, DT, Florida State (A+)
Round 5 Pick 20: Aaron Burbridge, WR, Michigan State (A+)
Round 5 Pick 28: Bralon Addison, WR, Oregon (A+) -- One of these 5th rounders should make Washington expendable.
Round 7 Pick 20: Cole Toner, OT, Harvard (A-) -- O-line depth (hopefully)

I noticed that the 6th rd pick we should get from the Jets for Fitzmagic isn't here. But I picked up an extra 3rd and 4th from the Panthers to make up.

It's been a while, but we do have Arian Foster returning, so RB isn't a high priority if it's not a value play.
I'm looking for someone to take the load off Foster. I think Elliott can do that.
Plus getting Elliott at #22 is a pretty good value.

I realize this is just a mock, but how is a rookie QB going to learn anything from a guy who has played 3 quarters of an NFL game?
I'm still of the opinion that Hoyer will be here next season and it will be up to Savage to take the #1 spot. If he cannot, then Prescott (or Cook, see next attempt below) will take it in 2017.

next try...

Great draft

I would rather sign Lamar Miller in FA and draft a QB in the 1st. Then draft a RB like Kenyan Drake/Kelvin Taylor etc.. in the 4th rd.

I thought about picking up Lamar, or some other available RB stud, too. But I think he (or whoever) will be looking to get "paid" and might be too expensive compared to a rookie's salary; even a 1st rd one. Especially as late as we're picking.

I don't know why you guys are drafting anyone in round 3. Might as well use it to trade up or just pass lol
Jaelen Strong picked #70 6'2" 217 lbs 4.4 forty with a 42 inch vertical. 6 catches 87 yds @ 14.5 and 3 TDs. Did you watch the two receptions Sunday that were Hopkins like? That is why you third rounders. Most of our "misses" were injury related. I like trade scenarios mostly down not up. Usually I rather have more player than one who might be better.

I agree if he is BPA, but it's not a desperation play.

If any of the top 4 NT prospects (Robinson, Clark, Billings or Reed are there along with Zeke, I take them. A top NT is a critical position in our defense and getting a young gun before Vince retires takes priority in my humble opinion. And this assumes Goff, Lynch and Cook are also off the board. Wentz and Zeke would be a tough choice at 22. It would probably change daily before draft day.

But I would go for Zeke in the second, but not the first. Henry in the third but not the second and any number of backs in the fourth of fifth. I'm really liking Dixon as a third choice if available in the fourth.

Well we will have to agree to disagree on what's top priority. I think scoring points, controlling the clock, and keeping our defense off the field is the top priority. And a good 1-2 punch at RB served us well in the past and will do so again assuming we get a good year out of Foster/Blue. And since O'Brien can't seem to harvest/train a young stud at QB; I'm for taking the pressure off O'Brien's retreads (or trainees if we actually draft a QB) with a solid running game. Look what it did for Roethisberger (he had Jerome Bettis remember). Russell Wilson has 'Beast Mode' (and what seems to be Beast mode 2.0). Hell, even Peyton had Marshall Faulk early in his career.
I'm for spending this draft's capital on offense.

Having said that, if you look at my two turns at this game, I picked the best available DT and ILB I could find; in the later rounds, I grant you. But I did address those positions.

It's loaded with unrealistic trade options. That's really it. No one's ever acquiring 11 3rd and 4th round picks.
That's why I limited myself to one trade per turn in this thing. I mean the game offers trade options all the way thru rd 6. That's just crazy.

I think you are too hung up on round... if a player is there you like and he's top of your board you have to take him

When I play, I limit the number of trades because it is very unrealistic at times. I usually don't start playing with these things until after the season is over and I'm trying to build up a big-board.

Yes, I'm hung up on getting an Arian Foster replacement in this draft. Elliott can be that guy.
And from what I've read about Prescott he's a leader and he seems to have all the tools.

Oh and only one trade; moved down four spots in the third and picked up two extra picks and still got my TE (Graham has to go).

It's all about cost-benefit analysis. I just don't have RBs rated as highly as NT right now.
After the first 4, the falloff at NT is extreme while there are numerous RBs who are good if not elite.

Would be interesting if folks would list the QB's were avaluable if they didn't take a QB in the 1st.
Actually, in two of my three turns at playing draft master, Goff, Cook, and Wentz were all gone by pick 22.
In the 2nd try Cook was still there.
That also played into why I went RB in the first. I figured someone I'd like would be there in round two.
And from what I've read about Prescott I'm not too sad I missed out on those others.

Hey just how many picks do we have anyway?
We got one from the Jets for Fitzy and another from the Pats for Keshawn Martin and yet another from the Rams for Keenum (didn't we??)
And we have to give one back to the Pats for Mallett.
Is that all?

I couldn't believe how this one set up. I had my choice of Goff, Cook, or Wentz without trading up. I ended up taking two DTs because they fell into my lap. I wanted a RB but didn't know enough about them to choose one in the later rounds.

EDIT: And I forgot to say -- No trades.
