Its about time to do our yearly Texans Talk Mock Draft.

This will be a sign up thread. If you want to play simply post it, then you will randomly be assigned a team from https://www.random.org/

Need help moderating the process. Looking in your direction: Dutchrudder / steelbtexan / others???

If you post saying "I'll take the Texans" you will be banished to The No Spin Zone. So don't ask.

Ill start it off. I would like to participate.

Just curious, but why not let people sign up first come first serve for all teams except the Texans? We have lots of folks with extra knowledge of 1 or 2 secondary teams after the Texans.

Open to other options as well though. Also open to taking two teams if needed.

yeah I don't understand random assignment of teams... pretty sure that's not how it worked first few, but I'm not in it. Just seems that people ought to draft for teams they feel comfortable drafting for. Why get a Jets fan to draft for the Cowboys?
 
When are we going to start?

I'm basically going to go offline on April 2nd and then probably not be back on-line until at least April 7th.

I guess it makes sense if it keeps everyone from getting into arguments. Still, it should be OK to swap teams after the computer generator assignment.

Pretty much my thinking. You are free to trade teams if you want. Really anyone should be able to take a team, learn their needs and apply prospects to them.

Still up for debate. Draft begins Thursday April 30th. I think we could start on the 6th (3.5 weeks to draft) which means you would probably only miss the first round. Maybe. You would just send us your top x players and then carry on with the 2nd round.

I briefly discussed starting the draft on Monday morning 7AM April 6th. The sign up can go on for another week. After that we can assign teams (some may have 2) so people can start their research or work out a team swap.

From last years rules.

RULES:
NO TRADES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Start: Monday morning 7AM April 6th
Teams: All Assigned.
Rounds: This is a 7 round mock.
CLOCK RULES:
Your clock time starts when the team in front of you makes a pick. Unless it was made while the clock is not running. In that case it will start at 7AM of the following weekday morning. You may pick at nights or on weekends if your team is on the clock.

Clock Only runs from 7AM-9PM

Round (1): 4 hours per pick.
Rounds (2-7): 4 hours per pick.
Night: Clock stops running at 9PM. Picks can still be made.
Morning: Clock starts running at 7AM.
Weekends: Clock stops. Picks can still be made.

Unavailable, proxy or MIA:
1.) If you miss a single pick, the rest of your teams draft will be a group pick.
2.) If you know you will be gone for awhile and might miss your pick, PM your top X players to myself or another member of this mock. They will make a proxy pick for you. JUST FREAKING DO IT!

Still sitting at 16 participants. When do y'all want to assign teams? I want to give everyone a day or so to research their teams top need before the draft starts on Monday.

Go ahead and assign 2 teams to each participant and if anybody else wants to join I'm sure somebody will be willing to give up a team.
 
I need to know my teams asap so I can do research.

But I should have my new computer and be good to go. The first few days for me may be a little sketchy.

I can understand that some may think I rigged it so that I am the Texans, but there really isnt any rigging going on. I dont really care who I got and wouldnt mind if someone else wants to randomly assign the teams. This is the way the list organizer randomized the teams when I ran it twice in a row for 1-16 and 17-32.
 
I'm good with doing it this way. Looks fine.

Wolverine and I have already agreed to swap NE and GB.
 
Did I miss the sign up? I've been watching and reading a lot of football, but not posting a lot since I'm currently trying to win my Fantasy Basketball Championship (again).

Do the Redskins ever take a hard line stance on not drafting players w/ off field concerns like the Texans? Or is everyone fair game for that dysfunctional organization. If anyone knows I would appreciate it.

Draft as you would if you were making the decisions for the team. Don't try to mimic their front office tendencies.
 
beerlover now has the Eagles,

And I have the Ravens and Browns.

I'd prefer to increase the number of participants, so if someone didn't get signed up for whatever reason and wants to draft for one of my teams... please PM me.

One is enough for me. :)

There's a reasonable possibility I will be out of pocket for some or all of this mock draft.

I have given WolverinFan and bah007 my proxy to draft in my place if I'm not around -- and if I'm around you'll know it within an hour max.

WF has agreed and assured me that bah007 has as well. Thanks to them both, I know both will make good picks. Apologies for pulling out at this late date. I'll let you know if plans change.
