2015 free agents

Rand Getlin ‏@Rand_Getlin
The #Jets have re-signed LB David Harris to a three-year, $21.5 million deal, per a league source. $15M fully guaranteed.

Harris is now the highest paid ILB in the league. Think about that.

NFL's 3-day legal tampering period opens today at noon.

Agents and teams can discuss Free Agents, but contracts can't be signed until Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Mike Garafolo @MikeGarofolo
Intriguing RFA move: Raiders gave WR Andre Holmes the low tender, meaning no compensation if a team signs him. Could be interest.

3/7: "Texans showing lots of interest in UFA DE DaQuan Bowers. Miami also has reached out." - Jayson Braddock, Roto Experts

3/7: The Texans, Colts, Dolphins and Raiders have made "preliminary inquiries" on Bills safety Da'Norris Searcy. - Josina Anderson

3/7: "Here’s the spot you should be watching for Brian Hoyer: Houston Texans. Team likes both Hoyer and Mallett — but I get sense Hoyer is target." - Jeff Darlington, NFL Network
Bowers? For what, the vet minimum?
Searcy? OK, that sounds good.
Hoyer? Please. God. No!!!!

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
Randall Cobb back to Green Bay on a 4-year, $40 million deal, per source.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet
Randall Cobb had 6-7 offers today, I’m told. He turned down considerably more money elsewhere to sign with the #Packers.

Frank Gore has mutual interest in joining Philadelphia

According to a report from Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, don't be surprised if Frank Gore is wearing an Eagles uniform this season. From the article:

"According to a person with knowledge of the situation who requested anonymity, the Eagles have expressed serious interest in San Francisco 49ers free agent running back Frank Gore. The mutual interest is so serious that it is possible a deal could get done as early as Tuesday, the first day free agents can sign with another team."

Sean Weatherspoon unlikely to be back with Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons talked up the return of Sean Weatherspoon this offseason. However, it appears those words were all for naught.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that the linebacker will hit the open market and is unlikely to be back in Atlanta, per a source involved in the situation.

Weatherspoon, who missed all of last season with a torn Achilles, had been a priority for the Falcons to bring back.

Just does not seem like a fit there.

That sucks!!! I really wanted that guy.

With the Broncos and Julius Thomas likely headed for a split, Denver is zeroing in on Plan B at the tight end position.

Virgil Green is currently mulling over a multi-year offer from the team while fielding interest from multiple other clubs, according to The Denver Post. No less than 13 teams have reached out to Green's agent, per the newspaper.

If the Texans aren't one of these 13 teams they are stupid.

Just does not seem like a fit there.

It doesn't from a tempo standpoint at his age, but I think Kelly is looking for a more complete back - and Gore is certainly that. Blocking, catching and running inside and outside. I don't watch enough Eagles games to properly gauge the system, but a guy like Gore would play more of the 'QB's best friend' role instead of more frustrating 'backfield playmaker', as well as being better getting the ugly yards in such a finesse offense.

Chris Mortensen @MortReport
Suh also will get $60 million in first 3 years of 6-year contract, based on parameters set between #Dolphins and Suh's agent, Jimmy Sexton.

Ndamukong Suh will sign with Dolphins on Tuesday based off parameters around $114 million and $60 million guaranteed, per sources.

and handles it with class...

Ndamukong Suh @DirtSuh
@davebirkett I'm going to build a house made of $100 bills

Jayson Braddock ‏@JaysonBraddock
The $25 mil guaranteed becomes the 5th most given to an NFL CB. Patrick Peterson / Richard Sherman / Aqib Talb / Brandon Carr

Deal also changed from 6 year $63 mil. It's now reportedly set to be a 5 year deal around $53 to 54 million. Byron Maxwell / Eagles

Byron Maxwell deal is done. Guarantee came in higher after more discussion. Byron Maxwell will become an Eagle Tuesday w/ $25 mil guaranteed

Adam Caplan ‏@caplannfl
#Jaguars are trying to give Bortles as much help as they can. Planning on adding Julius Thomas as "move" TE.

Charles Robinson ‏@CharlesRobinson
An opportunity has opened for #Jaguars with DeMarco Murray. They want a centerpiece back and could push hard to price #Cowboys way out.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
Chargers and CB Brandon Flowers reached agreement on a 4-year deal, per league sources. Deal to be signed this week.
Rand Getlin ‏@Rand_Getlin
Don't be surprised to see Flowers get somewhere around (and potentially north of) $20M in guarantees. Great situation for both parties.

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora
Can confirm ESPN report that Brandon Flowers will stay in San Diego. 4yr deal worth $36M. Corners continue to do very well

Rand Getlin ‏@Rand_Getlin
Source indicates the #49ers are bracing to lose Frank Gore. Has an offer on the table from the #Eagles averaging $5M+, $7M in guarantees.
Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
Free-agent RB Frank Gore has told people he will sign this week with the Philadelphia Eagles, league sources told me and @caplannfl.

Mike Garafolo ‏@MikeGarafolo
Raiders don't want to whiff on the first wave of free agency, continue to make a strong push for C Rodney Hudson. KC not out yet, though.

Rich Cimini ‏@RichCimini
Jets hoping to sign a free-agent safety. KC's Ron Parker is a name to watch. #nyj

Eliot Shorr-Parks ‏@EliotShorrParks
Who do #Eagles have an interest in pairing with Byron Maxwell? Green Bay #Packers Tramon Williams, per source.

Mark Sanchez is going back to Eagles, 2 Year Deal, max value of $16M, $5.5M Guaranteed, per source.

Tom E. Curran @tomecurran
After 30 hours of tampering, it seems a very good bet Patriots will retain either Revis or McCourty and a pretty good bet they keep both.

The Eagles' wild ride will continue: Jeremy Maclin plans to reunite with Andy Reid in Kansas City once free agent market opens Tuesday.

Mike Garafolo ‏@MikeGarafolo
Colts announce extension for CB Darius Butler

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora
Don't know what kind of cap magic they would be able to pull off, but Chiefs haven't given up on Darrelle Revis i'm told. NE and NYJ also in

Adam Caplan @caplannfl
#Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali has agreed to restructure his contract, according to a league source.

The #Patriots are keeping S Devin McCourty after a hard push from the #Jaguars, the #Eagles and the #Giants.

Mike Reiss ‏@MikeReiss
Devin McCourty contract terms with Patriots, per source: 5 years, $47.5 million, including $28.5 million in total guarantees.

Frank Gore leaving, Patrick Willis retiring, same possible for Justin Smith. Doesn't seem key #49ers vets lining up to play for new coaches

Well, that escalated quickly.

Here's the full NFL email [sent to teams] from this AM:

Clubs were advised of the rules for the three-day negotiating period in PP-23-15 (attached). These rules include limitations such as that a club cannot make an “offer;” or enter into a written or oral agreement of any kind, express or implied, or make promises or representations of any type concerning the terms or conditions of employment to be offered to any Unrestricted Free Agent for inclusion in a Player Contract after the start of the new League Year; or provide assurances of intent as to the future execution of an NFL Player Contract.

Clubs were further advised that “Any attempt to undermine the purpose of this negotiating period may be considered conduct detrimental to the League.” At this time, the League office is beginning investigations into a number of reported agreements with clubs. Violations will be dealt with accordingly.

Luckily, except for Hoyer, all our deals were with our own players. So we should be cool.

Gotta wonder if some of the "deals" are going to be disallowed and invalidated, freeing up some guys people thought were off the board.

The NFL looks like monkeys fornicating footballs on this. How the hell do you negotiate without making offers or discussing terms and conditions?

I agree. Why even come up with the bogus "legal tampering period" if $ can't be negotiated?

I would be surprised to see anything more than a draft pick penalty, and I wouldn't be shocked to not even see that much.

Remember back before the legalized tampering days when LZ broke the news of Haynesworth signing with the Redskins the day before free agency even began, and turned out to be spot on? There were numerous other instances of guys reaching deals with teams literally within minutes of the time it was legal to have contact. I don't recall a single deal getting invalidated back then, and the three day contact period should only make it harder to issue that severe a penalty, not easier.
