2014 Texans Talk Mock Draft SELECTION

It seems like the OL stocks are starting to thin out.

According to the CBS big board there are some significant reaches going on for OL.

Johnson, Long among others.

Found it myself when taking Halapio. Found the stocks were drying up.

I have a 4th round grade on Johnson and he was actually #1 on Seattle's board. I have a 5th round grade on Long and Carolina probably has the worst o line in the league right now. I had to take him over some higher rated players.

I have a 6th on Halapio, but I think he has starter potential down the road at RG.

We're getting deep into the draft now and some of the positions are starting to run low on talent. So if you have a need it's time to snatch it up before somebody else can.

Long was an all-american as a junior. Hurt his knee this year and missed most of the season. Would be a 3rd or 4th round pick if he hadn't got hurt.

I was hoping Long would last to the 7th rd.

I love the guy. Just drafted a starter in the 5th round. He'll get a crack at the RT job. If he doesn't look good there he will move to RG and almost assuredly win the job there.

Intetrestred in hearing more about why Bah007. I like him, but think maybe a bit lower,

And this is why I love Bah.

I noticed him while I was checking out Boston.

Great pick, it may work out or not but this guy has talent.

I have a different philosophy on the draft than most. Most people want to know where players rate on other teams' boards so they can wait until the last possible moment to draft them. I don't believe in that unless it's a player you don't really care that much about. If it's a guy you have to have you just take him whenever you get a chance. Price was the #1 guy on Seattle's board and we don't have another pick coming up for a while. I can't take the risk that somebody else may grab him before I'm up again.

Price has the size and raw skills to be a starting caliber NFL CB. In Seattle, he will be behind four good CBs. So he has the benefit of a redshirt year (or two) before anything is expected of him on that side of the ball. Meanwhile, he will be getting coached up by the best in the business and he has the physical nature to make an impact on special teams.

Fair. I think you have him pegged right in that he could be good if he gets some time to develop. I think he will be made or broken on if the game 'slows down' for him some in the pros.

I think that's a fair assessment. And with Seattle's track record at DB, I'm leaning toward made.

Love the Barrett pick for Pittsburgh. He just fits there. Tough football player who gives max effort.

Thank you and I agree

I believe they has met with him or have them on their radar because he was in a Pittsburgh article and linked to the steelers a few times

Would not shock me if he ended up in black and gold

Lawson would be a good pick.

I kind of like Aaron Lynch, DE, USF here for them. Lots of potential and needs a strong organization to mold him, Ravens could potentially do that. Problem is his best fit is probably 4-3 end.

Sorry, brain implosion, got my teams confused.

Ellington to the Redskins.

Griffin needs some weapons. Ellington is a big play waiting to happen.

With the 182nd pick the Atlanta Falcons select..

Zack Kerr - DT - Delaware - COL

If there was ever a poor man's Dontari Poe, you're getting pretty close to him with Kerr. Kerr is a surprising athletic man for somebody who's 6'1", 326 lbs. He's got a complete skillset. This guy has future Pro Bowl talent written all over him. The Falcons beef up the D-line with Carrethers (6-1, 337 lbs) & Kerr (6-1, 326 lbs).

Damn man you are killing it with some of these picks you're making. Kerr is my top sleeper at NT this year.

Proxy pick for The Pencil Neck via PM.

The Jacksonville Jaguars select...

John Urschel - OG - Penn State - Big Ten

He played RG in college but he might transition to C in the pros... and that's really what I have in mind for him. He's a bit undersized and a bit understrength but he's a scrappy guy and he's very intelligent. The centers that I'd been targeting prior to this were all off the board; I think this guy could be a good developmental player.

Thanks. The Falcons have already interviewed Kerr and both Chiefs & Falcons fans seem to like him. I thought about selecting him in the 5th round but decided to take Carrethers instead. I can actually see Atlanta selecting him as early as the 3rd round..

The Houston Texans select...

Khairi Fortt - ILB - California - Pac 12

Great Pick here. Reps + Vertical + Broad Jump = 76, THAT'S OUTSTANDING. Amazing that kind of athlete still available in RD 6. Fortt was an up and comer working on a good college career at Penn St before transferring to California and a very bad Defense. That put him under the radar. Someone did their homework. I think he would be exceptional lined up next to Cushing and could be a RD 6 starter. He was #1 on the Colts board.

With the 183rd the Chicago Bears select Beau Allen DT Wisconsin Big 10

Allen give the Bears a run stuffer and depth at DT.

The Bears draft is done

They have had a draft that fixed their DB's , DT's, and added a pass rusher

Rd.1 Clinton-Dix
Rd.2 Crichton
Rd.3 Easley
Rd.4 Watkins
Rd.5 Aikens
Rd.6 Allen

The only thing missing is ILB depth. But the Bears are very haapy with their draft.

You son of a *****!!! :roast:

I really like this guy. The more I watched him the more impressed I got. He really hustles for a big guy. Is solid against the run. Would love for the texans to draft him around this area. Have a feeling he will go a lot higher.

Powe/Allen would give a solid NT rotation.

Sorry about that.

What do you think of the Bears draft?

That's a pretty good damned haul right there. I don't think Watkins and Allen are given enough credit but I really can't believe you nabbed Easley there in the third. Good job.

Thanks. And thanks Wolverine for taking care of business while I was away.

I'm surprised I wasn't given my 2 minute warning yet.

The Vikings select Kapri Bibbs, RB, Colorado State.

They need a running back after losing Gerhart, and I think Bibbs could develop into a solid #2, and a possible #1 is necessary. I'm surprised more people aren't higher on him. I know his jump numbers were disappointing at the combine, but I think he's solid.
