If we trade for Mallet, isn't he our QB of the future.
He's got another 10 years in him hasn't he?
Their gonna draft Carr or trade for Mallett...
Please, that's stupid. How many games we win in 2014 won't be decided by who we pick in this draft. It will come down to how many of the players we already have who we thought were players actually bounce back from 2014 under OB and perform well.
We're done. 6 wins or less.
McNair won't take him. PR implosion waiting to happen. Unless he wants more fans to bleed over to the Cowboys and Saints (and Browns now apparently)

Theres a rumored trade in place, our 5th for Mallet.

I'm happy w Mallet for our 5th and Nix at 2.1; comparison to Casey Hampton.

And college QBs are known quantities?

So didn't that jagoff nick wright of 610 am make bet that bridgewater would be a first rounder. He stands to lose thousands if tb falls to the second round. That would be hilarious.

The only bad thing Derek Carr has going against him is his last name. If BOB thinks he's the guy then so be it. I'm not gonna judge the guy because his brother is David Carr.
... and Nix at 2.1; comparison to Casey Hampton.
:mariopalm:
We have more tape on how Bridgewater and Manziel play right NOW than we do about Mallett right now. I don't know what Mallett is like at all right now. Maybe Bill O'Brien has more faith in him, but I don't really feel all that great about entrusting a guy traded for a 3rd round pick with the future of the franchise.
Louis Nix, DT fills a huge need. QB at 3.1

How many games did the 2013 draft picks win us in 2013? Did the season hinge on their performance?
How about the 2012 picks? Were they solely responsible for all the success of 2012?
Jeez people, it's a process. There's free agents, there's draft picks, UDFA's, and then more free agents. This team didn't get a rookie QB in round one and it's a disaster? ****ing idiotic.
Maybe you've forgotten that Schaub isn't here anymore. He can't bounce back. Even if we have a top 10 defense and a great supporting cast Fitzpatrick isn't going to take you to the playoffs. Keenum is terrible - we saw that last year.
A first round QB who could come in a provide a spark could've had an incredible impact on our win total this year.
Nix is the guy I've been hoping for at 2.1 for a while. I've been wanting the Texans to take a real NT since Seth Payne blew out his knee in the Superdome.
The Texans are going to get a lot of great trade offers for 2.1... They will trade down unless they absolutely love the player there. Given that they didn't trade up to get a guy towards the end of round one, I'm guessing they aren't in love with anyone at 33 and will trade down tomorrow....
The Texans didn't get a 1st round QB....
Epitomy of the loser mentality that has permeated this franchise since its inception.
No need to win now, let's just keep sucking forever and getting great prospects with our high draft picks. Just keep drafting BPA and eventually we'll be a winner, right?
You can't build through the draft if you ignore the most important player on the team. We won't win 8 games with Fitz and Case. I'm not willing to wait until 2015 when you think we'll "stalk a QB."
Sometimes you have to take a risk. A late 1st rounder on a potential franchise QB is not that big of a gamble. Instead we've essentially locked ourselves into trotting out a journeyman QB for an entire year. No potential upside in Fitz or Keenum. We've seen them. They're terrible

Put your pacifier back in. What makes you so sure Bridgewater would be taken tomorrow even if he were still available?
Typical knee jerk bullsh!t. Let the rest of the draft play out.
Exactly. I'm not a fan of Teddy to be honest with you, but I mean hell, the Vikings are a team with arguably more holes than the Texans and have a new coach as well. They aren't drafting scared and sitting pat. What angers me is the sheer fact that the Texans seemingly aren't trying here. The Vikings and Browns are making the effort to win now despite being a worse team. It's frustrating.
I'd be happy with Teddy at 1.28 ish because at least that shows me the Texans are not scared. They are.
Oh wow, were any of those picks quarterbacks? All that proves is that a QB's impact on the game > any skill position player's. Any quarterback either improves or worsens your chance of winning by a significant margin.
Worse QBs than Pickspatrick have won the Superbowl.
Let's see how the rest of the draft and free agency play out.

Or maybe it shows that they didn't want Teddy..
If they didn't want Teddy why did the Vikings jump us?
We have QB's and we're not out of time to get another one. It's not like the market in QB's closed tonight.
If the OB regime thought they needed a QB they'd have taken steps to get one. and they were clearly not worried about it. No trade back up into the first round was made and for good reason. Didn't see what they wanted. They're either serious about Mallet or they have a guy targeted in the second that they're fine with.
I realize the folly of that kind of thinking when our season is lost per many fans expert opinions but hey, that's just how I interpret the events of this evening.

Our pass rush and ability to stop the run has sucked balls. We can address that in this draft by taking the two highest ranked players at their position. I take Nix, line him up next to Watt and Clowney, and smile as the AFC South tries to adjust.
Yes we still have needs at QB and RT. I'm aware.
And you don't think it's possible we intended to trade up to get Manziel only to have Cle jump in before we could? We have QB's and we're not out of time to get another one. It's not like the market in QB's closed tonight.

I don't think the Texans will take a QB with their 2nd round pick as it stands tomorrow. I would like to see them draft a NT and solve that enormous, no pun intended, hole. Definitely need linebackers since we can't really rely on Cushing being healthy through out the season anymore. I think if they do draft a QB, it'll be in the 3rd or 4th round. Can't say I'm excited about the upcoming season as it stands.
