2014 College Football Season

I thought Prescott from Miss St looked good today

I love Prescott as a college player. As an NFL player? I'm not sold at this point. This is the same exact offense that Tebow excelled at in college and they have extremely similar skill sets. Outside of that awful windup Tebow had, it's scary how similar they look.

Prescott is a better prospect but he's still in the Tebow/Colin Klein mold. Definitely a NFL player. I can't decide if he's a QB or a TE though.

You've been on point with Carden all year. He's been really good and was excellent against a top notch Virginia Tech secondary. He's probably the top Senior QB this year.

Hogan is regressing by the game and Driskell just plain sucks. I fell for the measureables and let 2 decent games fool me into thinking he had turned the corner. He hasn't. Hundley played okay tonight and made some very clutch throws when they were down but when he's bad, he's bad. Took 10 sacks tonight. That can't happen.

Yep Hundley's 10 sacks along with that horrendous pick 6 is what cost UCLA the ball game. Hundley's 4 second clock is a six second clock for most folks.

Hundley kept his accuracy and per catch up where I wanted him to but way to many sacks. Thinking strongly of removing him from my next mock.

Glad the heavyweight game in Texas is finally on. So far it's all TCU, 14-0. I knew something was wrong with Baylor when they only beat Texas 28-7.

I'm stuck at work, but there's an ILB I love on USF playing right now named Reshard Cliett (sp?). #16 is the real deal. Check him out if you get the chance.

Can't remember if I've ever seen a college team choke like TCU did tonight. This game was over after that pick six. Credit to Baylor for never quitting.

On the flip side, probably the worst officiated game I've ever seen. On both sides.

My guy Cody Prewitt is playing lights out against Texas A&M. Just took a pick six to make it 21-0.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but it was our offense that lost us this game. If you told me that our defense was going to give up only 3 touchdowns this entire game I would have thought we'd have won. Kenny Hill scored 14 points for Ole Miss, though.

Spavital's playcalling has gotten worse and worse and Kenny Hill is regressing fast. Clarence McKinney might have been a better playcaller, even if he totally ignored the running game.

But then again, we could be Texas, so there's that.

Hugh Freeze and Bo Wallace may have combined for the biggest collective WTF of the season so far.

9 seconds left with no timeouts and they have no clue what they want to do. Finally decide to send out the FG team but they don't have enough time to set up and have to take a delay penalty. Then they decide to send the offense back out to get a few more yards. I'm fine with that except that the play call is horrible. I like the sprint left but the route combination is terrible.

Those are all coaching errors. But then Wallace makes the biggest error of all and throws a wounded duck into double coverage for no reason. Just throw it out of bounds and kick the FG.

That was just horrible game management, Les Miles finally gets to laugh at someone for a critical bonehead decision.

Florida State @ Louisville tonight, they said Petrino "flips" his offensive line during games... has he always done that???

Florida St looks like a team that is just used to out-athleting their opponents. They are very undisciplined. Louisville is coached better and they bring more effort.

We'll see how things play out but Louisville doesn't look like they are going to take their foot off the gas.

It's crazy how much credit Winston gets for hitting wide open receivers.

If you bracket Greene and O'Leary he is completely helpless. He can't read defenses and he isn't accurate throwing into man coverage.

I really think it's BS that the offense gets the extra yardage on a forward fumble. That ball should go back to the point of the fumble.

Another horrible 1st half from Winston. This is a recurring theme with him as he's yet to play a solid 1st half this year.

10/22 for 123 yards and 2 INT's at half and 68 of those yards came on the final drive with Louisville playing prevent.

Louisville's QB Gardner looks like the better draft prospect so far.

Pretty sure he did it at Arkansas. I don't recall the specifics exactly but I think it has something to do with strong/weak side. He has a strong side OT/OG and a weak side OT/OG.

Same issues as every game. Center is terrible and gets beat on every play. Pressure up middle on every play means short clock and no running game. I don't really fault Winston actually, had pressure in his face and made a mistake on 1st INT. His WR quit on the route on the 2nd INT. Can't accomplish a lot when you are getting pressured up middle on every play. Defensive coordinator is terrible. The difference between the secondary this year and last year is amazing and it's largely the same guys. Northrup, #5, is terrible too.

I knew we would lose a couple games this year after week 2. Just too many elementary problems.

Winston throws an awful pick into double coverage on his first pass on the 2nd half. Naturally the Louisville defender returns it for a few yards and then fumbles it right back to FSU. FSU might be the luckiest team in the country. When they really really need a break the pieces just fall right into place for them.

Yeah, been lucky this year for sure. We aren't that great, honestly. Need to hire a new D coordinator for next year. That will solve a ton of problems.

Remember that Winston didn't play a lot in the second half last year. He's still pretty inexperienced. He's going through a lot of learning pains this year. This is also a good defense he is facing.

We go for it on 4th down and the center literally just falls forward, accomplishes nothing.

Losing Terrence Brooks and Lamarcus Joyner has left them with considerably less than largely the same guys.

Not really. P.J. Williams was a starter last year. Ramsey was a starter at corner but mostly safety ylast year. Darbyplayed a ton of nickel and outside corner. Tyler Hunter played safety and nickel back last year. Andrews was a nickel/dime back and safety last year. It's mostly the same guys, definitely not considerably less. A point made by media, fans, and commentators.

Fair enough, it is that. But the amount of plays lost with those two guys in particular gone is so difficult to make up and is clearly noticeable in their absence.

That throw in the corner to O'Leary was easily Winston's best of the game. But without that hold by the RT he obviously doesn't have time to make it. Had to come back.

Still haven't seen anything from Winston to suggest he's a first round prospect. He looks to be the third or fourth best player on their offense.

I'd usually agree but those guys got more snaps than Joyner and Brooks did in some games, quite a few games actually. We just smashed teams last year early on.

Lamarcus alone made more plays than anyone else in that secondary last year, much less what a rock Terrence was back there. That playmaking and leadership being gone can do a number on a position unit from one year to the next is all.

Btw, I don't say this to argue necessarily, just as a noles fan I think the rest of the country (media, fans, etc.) have underestimated the amount of talent that's been needed to be replaced from last year.

I think Darby is clearly overrated. Ramsey is a player but hasn't been as good as last year. That Williams kid can play

They're all good players. That's the thing. Williams was playing like an All-American last year. This year he's just above average. Ramsey was playing All-Conference at the least and he's taken a step back. Darby, Andrews, and Hunter all have taken significant steps back.

They're roughly enough bowl games (32) to have a much more inclusive playoff system in place. I don't feel that many is necessary but why not if they exist make them part of whole. Elite 8 sweet sixteen can't come fast enough. :pinned:

Do you think there's a point at which playoff inclusion begins to belittle the worth of the regular season?

8 might be the max. not sure you can get any more past the University Presidents and Chancellors.

Definitely. It can't go more than 8. And I'm not sure I'd want it to go more than 6.

Big five conference champions plus the highest ranked small school champion/independent.

If you only take conference champions then you keep the emphasis on the regular season. This at large stuff is way too dependent on pre season rankings, which is ridiculous.

But if I know the people in charge of all this, and I think I do, then they are going to try to make this thing as big as possible so they can milk every last dollar out of it.

6 does not compute unless 2 teams get byes. Need 8 to be fair and equal. 8-4-2-1

Eight teams sounds fun in theory, but I feel like four is a petty accurate assessment come the end of the season on who deserves their shot at a title. Leaving people wanting more is usually a good determination that something is working.

Beside the regular season becoming more of an afterthought, adding more teams to the playoff bracket will also water down the playoff bracket itself. There's an air of elite-ism at the top of the polls, and that's a good thing. I don't think it can be stressed enough how much more exclusiveness adds to the importance of that final stretch run in determining a champion. The further down we dredge to include teams in the hunt the more we muddy the waters of what should be a crystal clear look at who is the best in college football.

There's a fine line between celebrating a cinderella and rewarding mediocrity.

Winston is a beast.

If he keeps his head on straight in the pros, goes to a team with a good coach....He's going to be awesome.

I hope he didn't rape that girl.....
