2013 TT Member Mock Draft Discussion

With the 52nd selection the Vikings will select Sylvester Williams, DT, UNC.

Some may see this as early for Williams, but I'm glad he made it here. Though there's a little UNC homer in this pick, Williams will do good on the 4-3 the Vikings run. They need serious help up front, and between Williams and Minter I feel the Vikings have now solidified their front 7. These two will hopefully take heat off the secondary as well.

I don't think it's a reach at all, I'm a fan of Williams. Outside of the big Dt at the top (Star, Richardson, Floyd) He is right there. He is better than Hankins, and right there with Short IMO

I still think taking a safety with one of our first 4 picks is a good idea. My philosophy is to take whoever has the highest grade out of the WR,DT,OT,ILB, but if you can get one of Elam, Cyprein, Amerson, or Vaccaro seriously consider it, and push back ILB. Hodges, Klein and Alonzo are real good value around the 4th round, and safety will be a need again real soon.

I think I like Hankins more than the Williams and maybe even Short for the reason that he's already shown stanina and durability as a Junior.

He played between 60-70 snaps as I read one of the reports.
Another report sad that he also has light feet.

Personally, I prefer the middle-of-the-road approach where you consider both the grades and the depth of the positions in the draft class.

Balance it out to make the final decision.

Boy looks damn good!

Agree'd .... Too bad the Texans cant afford this choice.

I look at it first as .... who's the best guy on the board.

How does he affect the game overall.

Is he a bigger upgrade than the best guy available at another position?!

The guy who makes the biggest impact is my likely pick ....

Someone pour me a drink :glasshalffull:

That and the fact you recognize the depth at WR in the draft adds up to the same philosophy.

P.S. I only drink cheap wine at home now when I'm by myself.

That's what drained my pocket. LOL

Anyway, Jonathan Hankins is still available right?

I think Hankins was selected for the Steelers...

It would be helpful if the players already selected were updated *cough* :)

its getting difficult to pick through the main thread and figure out who is still available.

I updated it. Here's the 2nd round so far, and maybe the updates on who is next should include previous picks to help people out. Something like this:

18 48 Pittsburgh - Honoring Earl - Jonathan Hankins DT
19 49 New York Giants - htownfan32 - Terron Armstead, OT, Arkansas Pine Bluff
20 50 Chicago - Dutchrudder - Justin Pugh, OG, Syracuse
21 51 Washington - Steel B Texan - David Amerson, CB
22 52 Minnesota - NC Texan - Sylvester Williams, DT, UNC
23 53 Cincinatti - Corrosion - Johnathan Franklin - RB UCLA
24 54 Miami - Texans Seminole
25 55 Green Bay - Mussop
26 56 Seattle - Blake
27 57 Houston - Corrosion
28 58 Denver - Senor Stan
29 59 New England - Coon
30 60 Atlanta - Bong
31 61 San Francisco - Wolverine Fan
32 62 Baltimore - Rock-N-Randy

Seminole actually had a pick in (early in the morning), but since he was here a while ago, I don't know if he changes his mind or not.

He didn't instruct me whether he's going to stay with that pick so I don't know if I should go ahead and post it.

I'm back, thanks for helping out.

When the 4 hr mark arrives if TS hasn't made his pick, use his list.

I'll be on the drive home in a few minutes...If I haven't checked back in and the Bronco Manning's pick comes up 76 has my list.

I think I lost your list. Can you PM me real quick.
Never mind, I have it.
I was conversing with steelb over the phone, and got distracted.
Just wanted to make sure everything is OK, and it is.

We are obviously just waiting for the Texans pick

You know corrosion is all lic'ered up by now, don't you? LOL

This draft class is just not strong in TE in the top 50.

I'm not sure I give any guy other than Eifert top 50 grade.
A couple of borderline 2nd rounders for me.
But I think it's more likely somebody would take a TE higher than we're doing here in the real NFL draft.

I'm about ready to announce the Dolphins selection for TS in a couple.

I could have made that pick for you 4 hours ago, but I wanted to be sure you didn't change your mind.

Mussop has been emailed.
He was here a while ago, but left, going home may be?

I have the Seattle's pick in hand (for Blake), so corrosion, if you want to pick tonight, get ready.

I woke up on the couch confused and then immediately felt like an ass.

My wife made me feel like that at Bwling tonight. LOL Guess you can tell who's the bowler in the family. LOL

Been there done that , and I suspect corrosion, among others, have had the same feeling, too.

Anyway, I've haven't seen enough of Slay, only because I don't think the Texans will draft a CB.

Can he play press?

He's pretty good in man coverage, because he seems to do a good job of anticipating and obviously his quickness and speed is top notch. He's not really a press guy, although he does have the aggressive attitude that is necessary to learn it, the long arms too. He comes across as a natural in pass coverage and does a good job of separating the ball and receiver.

What is hurting him is lack of experience. Compared to a guy like Xavier Rhodes, he is quite inexperienced. He also needs to work on his tackling technique. He has all the natural ability that you would want to work with though.

Edit: Forgot to add that he has alot of pick 6 potential. He has KR/PR type skills with the ball in his hands. This is the kind of guy that could change the whole game with a momentum snatching pick 6.

What is it with the Dolphins keep moving their CBs out?

They are limited at the position as far as talent, they have next to nobody at CB. Davis was not getting alot better and had quite a few bonehead plays in Miami. Sean Smith is a good player, but he was surely not worth the contract he got in FA. Still, it left Miami depleted.

I'm not sure exactly what they prefer in their corners, as far as scheme, to be honest with you. I know that Slay is the type of prospect that can be molded though. All that athletic and natural coverage ability combined with his relative lack of experience leaves him as somewhat of a blank canvas.

I thought Davis was their best corner ; and then they let Allen walk in favor of Smith. Now all three are gone. Dolphins fans must be frustrated, you think?

Or were they fine with the Davis' trade? He was traded, wasn't he?

I've seen some wanting Rhodes in the first, then a DE in the second; but I think I agree with you if Slay works out about the same as Sean Smith (but they are quite different players, aren't they?)

Yea, they (Slay and Smith) are quite different. I obviously like Rhodes alot, but at #12 I am just not willing to take him. There will be a guy I have more highly rated there to take at a need position at #12 in almost every draft scenario.

It comes down to the Dolphins need a vet corner or two to compete desperately. If they trot out what they have now, even if they were able to get Milliner, they are going to get torched.

I followed that.

Earl will be out of the loop for another day.
He has the Panthers and the Steelers.
I don't think the Panthers have a second round pick.
(Somebody helps double check please.)

For the Steelers, these are the needs (per Steelb)

OLB/ILB/S/CB/WR/RB

Rd.1 Jarvis Jones OLB Ga.

Round 2.

Hankins it is.

Next.

So they picked an edge rusher and a DT.

I'd like some suggestions here, please.
I will bring it up again when the time is near.

Bumped.

Sorry guys fell asleep waiting on last pick. With Saturday retiring there is a big hole in the middle of the OL.

Green bay selects C Barrett Jones

Jones could also play OG and OT if needed. Rodgers needs better protection.

Sacked 51 times!!! Can't have the franchise getting killed like that. He will end up with mittens on. :gun:

Great pick with Jones. Guy was a beast in college, but his stock is not as valued as some of these other guys because he doesn't have the same "measureables".

He's going to be a good pro.
