2012 NFL Draft Day 1: Round 1

I see this as a great value pick. If this guy keeps it up our pass rush is going to be sick. Ask the Giants if you need a lot of pass rushers!!! He must have been the highest rated player at a need position on our board. OT in the 2nd.

I've read about four scouting reports on him so far, and I'm beginning to fall in love with this pick. Our D is going to be scary. About the worst thing I've read so far is he's a one year wonder in college. But even still, that one year was frigging fantastic.

Our D is going to be awesome this year. Just freaking awesome. :)

I think it is more than just a depth pick. Remember we lost Mario, had Barwin or Reed got hurt we would have been in deep trouble.

Oh.
Thank you.
I feel much better now.
ESPN said DE. and I was like "why??"

The reports I've been reading he can play either 4-3 end or 3-4 OLB, and do well at both. He was on some folks boards as high as an upper 15 slot pick in the 1st round all the way to top of the 2nd round.

would think viking would need to upgrade their pass coverage considering their division, rodgers, megatron, now culter/marshall -- has to be jenkns

The Texans are officially in the ranks of the smarter franchises in football now. There were so many dumb moves made tonight that I am very proud that Rick Smith stayed pat and didn't try to reach like other teams did tonight. There are some really, really good prospects still left. The next two rounds should be better than this crappy first round. Well..it wasn't crappy for us Texans fans!!!

Exactly, some teams are just making it a lot easier for us, thanks.

Who is the guy in the white leotard? Is that a young John McClain with Doc from Back to the Future?

Is this NSFW? Congrats, you just got your 2 seconds and Mercilus will now be asked who you are and if you are related. We already need a Mercilus face palm.

And the reaching continues. Didn't they sign Moss and Manningham to go along with Crabtree and Kyle Williams? Wouldn't Fleener have been a better choice? Thank God I'm a Texans fan.

I'm surprised by both the Smith and the Jenkins picks.

Now the question is, what are we going to do in the 2nd round? WR? Quick, Sanu, Randle?

Anyone else surprised to see the Pats jump in front of us for Hightower? I was sure they were going to snag our OLB.

I think ESPN is trying to fit in all the commercials they thought they'd have an extra hour to show. Looks like the round will end an hour earlier than expected...

I figured he was talking about AJ Jenkins since there are more receiving candidates that some might consider a better choice, its slim picking for 1st round talent safeties.

Dammit!!!! First my desk top crashes with all me notes and now my DVR just froze up and isn't letting me review the draft.

I am wondering why we went Mercilus and not Nick Perry?

I liked the imposing strength of Perry form the footage I saw tonight. I like the USC tradition of producing strong, killer instinct defensive guys.

Can anyone here calm my fears and tell me why Mercilus is a better outside guy for us than Nick Perry would have been? I think Green Bay and Dom Capers loved that Perry was there for them. Maybe both teams got what they wanted?
