Nice pick. I got on the Mercilus wagon this past week after I read about how he's like Jean Paul Pierre of the Giants.

Mercilus the LB out of Illinois.

Mayock has him as a natural edge rusher. Look at his family! They LOVE IT!

So the Titans and the Jags go with WR. We counter and say "Oh yeah? We're going defense...again...and we're going to hurt you. HURT you."

Mayock says Rick Smith has become one of the better GMs in the league now.
 
Did yall see the image of the crowd at Reliant? Was that Wade in the all white get up with the cape and and the glittery texans logo on the front? OMG that image was priceless!
 
Wow! John McClain actually called one. He basically came out and said that Mercilus was the one they wanted. Figured it was smokescreen.

Cannot believe he fell to 26.
 
NO reason not to trade up. too much talent left still to just leave it there without taking a chance. think baltimore will go Hill? otherwise could probably get him early second. i think sf goes OL, denver goes martin, and giants certainly don't need a wr

People are too fat in Houston to move around show some excitement. They're just standing around like cattle. Loved the Skype shot of the Mercilus household!

I would have preferred an offensive pick, but Mercilus is a beast. You can never have too many beasts.

A bit surprised they went defense. Production + Measurables = Texans 1st round draft pick.

Still some good O-linemen and WRs left.

The Texans are officially in the ranks of the smarter franchises in football now. There were so many dumb moves made tonight that I am very proud that Rick Smith stayed pat and didn't try to reach like other teams did tonight. There are some really, really good prospects still left. The next two rounds should be better than this crappy first round. Well..it wasn't crappy for us Texans fans!!!
