Damn you, Hou-Tex! I wanted him to fall all the way down to me.
But apparently, SM had his eyes on my QB of the future, too.
Pfah.

I'm guessing that this is far too late for Stanzi come draft day.
The TE class is pretty awful though.
I think that Rudolph and Williams are the only players I expect to make much of an impact.
I really like Pianalto from North Carolina. He'll go later than those other two but he will be a good pro.
He is a less talented version of Gronkowski from last year.
He isn't exactly great at anything, but he can do everything.
I respect your insight so I'll watch for him, but I have never heard of the guy.
Yeah, this board is anti-QB and anti-RB. I think, as drafters even when drafting for other teams, we have a tendency to focus more on whatever weaknesses we perceive in the Texans and slant our draft that way. So more Safeties and Corners and DL have been picked than I'd expect in the real draft so far. And that's come at the expense of the QB, RB, and probably TE positions.
It's still fun.

We also tend to have a run on a position, especially offensive and defensive linemen.
We should be able to send at least 2 representatives to be in the war room
I don't think we have 2 'yes-men' on the board...

Yes, we do. Oh, wait, I mean... no, we don't. Oh, wait, dammit. I mean, you're right.
Ok ... whatever you say .![]()
I should have specified, I meant the mock draft section. Sure the general TTalk area has some Kubiak fanboys, but I haven't really seen anyone around here praising their drafts, especially defensive picks.
Anyone have an issue with Miller, or do yall want someone else?
I like Budwieser better .
Pick him ... I'm next .

Mario "Thumper" Harvey, LB, Marshall, 5'11 1/2" 257
Mario blew up his pro-day running a 4.43 forty (fastest LB @ combine was a 4.49). Harvey ran like a receiver by some accounts while also benching 225 27 times. Cowboys Rob BL Ryan graded Mario #6 ILB prospect & feels can be developed into an everydown 3-4 LB with enough edge speed to flip outside in assorted blitz packages. Excellent closing speed & ability to run ball carrier down, very productive 2010 stats: 142 tackles, 16.5 TFL, 7.5 sacks, 7 PBU's (420 tackles for career). Will excel in special teams as well.
Sounds like a great prospect.
his stock has sky rocketed since his pro day, created quite a buzz among scouts. I thought 5th rd. grade was fair before, now I'm not really sure? this is the type of pick you want here. someone who fits your system (3-4 ILB prospect) he should have a high ceiling, be a position of need & team must have patience developing him without setting him back confidence wise. To bridge the gap as I mentioned he is unblockable on special teams, not sure how the rule changes will impact that facet of the game but a valuable tool to have regardless.
What are his weaknesses?

Being nicknamed after a character from Bambi makes him sound like a softy...

His former position coach, Steve Dunlap, hung that nickname on Harvey in his freshman year, when Harvey was competing in an inside-run drill in which defenders take on a blocker while also trying to stop a runner.
"Everybody just saw me as a short freshman linebacker, and a lineman came up on me and thought I was going to back down from him," Harvey said.
"I wasn't going to back down from nobody. I laid him out, and coach Dunlap said, 'Oh, you're a thumper.' Everybody started laughing. He started saying it out on the field all the time, and ever since then, it just stuck with me."
The difficulty that blockers have in intercepting Harvey before he builds a full head of steam is compounded by the edge he gains by his stature. At 6 feet, he can be hard to see behind linemen 6 inches taller as he runs to the ball.
"I use that to my advantage," he said.

Carolina was hoping he would fall to the top of the 6th rd.
Harvey has the big size you need in a 3-4 ILB, both Beason and Conner or too small for 3-4 ILB's, besides both being free agents at the end of this season. Dan Connor has been injury prone, missing about half his time with the Panthers. If Harvey should be available when the Panthers draft in the 4th or 5th round, then they might consider drafting him
Why is that an issue, since the Panthers will play a 4-3 under Ron Rivera?Harvey has the big size you need in a 3-4 ILB, both Beason and Conner or too small for 3-4 ILB's

Chris Conte, FS, Cal
recruited as a CB and but moved to S. first team all-pac10. instinctive and superb tackler for a S. good athlete that even returned kicks for jeff tedford. needs to improve his ball skills but he can run and cover. should go in the mid 3rd to early 4th.
Why is that an issue, since the Panthers will play a 4-3 under Ron Rivera?
Did I get skipped over? I thought I picked next after the Redskins? I went ahead and PMd SuperMario in case I wasn't around so I'm just wondering...

Damn, I can't believe no one realized you were skipped! Sorry about that man, who was your pick? I'm hoping its not someone who has been picked up already, but if so, then I guess thats up to you, SuperMario, and whoever picked the player you were aiming for.
With the 142nd pick, the St. Louis Rams select...
Eric Hagg, DB Nebraska

Oshiomogho Atogwe is now with the Redskins, and although the Rams can move players around in the defensive secondary, they can still use a play making safety to play either SS or FS. Hagg provides the Rams with a decent size defender who hits hard and can also return punts.
One opinion of him....
Positives: Has above-average size for the position, good bulk for his frame... Has good pop in his pads, is big enough to jar the ball loose and punish opposing ball carriers... Durability not an issue, has not missed any substantial time due to injury... Is a versatile defensive back, can line up at either strong safety or free safety... Has decent range and pretty good fluidity for his size... Instincts are solid, flows well with the play and generally knows where he is supposed to be, is smart and heady... Will make a good teammate and character guy at the next level.
Negatives: Did not really impress at the Senior Bowl, looked slow and a bit out of place... Did not run well at the combine... Not much of a playmaker, did record five interceptions in 2010, but did not have much of a statistical impact before that season... Needs to do a better job of locating the football, ball skills are just adequate at best... Not very quick, change-of-direction skills and agility are lacking... Doesnt seem like a center-field safety, will not have the range in the NFL to cover the whole deep portion of the field.
And you really need a picture of him...

FWIW I hope we grab him for the Texans in the 6th or 7th.
As a GM I don't generally value RBs very highly as there shelf life is generally short and a good scheme and blocking can make a run game.
Prospects come out of nowhere (Arian Foster) and gems can be found in many rounds.
However with the Dolphins run game in limbo with Williams and Brown likely not to be here next year the Dolphins have decided to add a back.
With their selection the Miami Dolphins select Jordan Todman, RB, Conneticut.

Good pick. I expected this guy to go 30-40 picks ago.
