2011 TexansTalk Member Mock Draft (FULL)

just realize supplemental picks are not included, so a lot of really good top to bottom drafts might be a little thinner than expected in real thing. Plus it could affect how a team might attack their board with sandwich picks, hence more likely to address need for instance & pull trigger sooner if they have to address position, for example OLB.....

True

But this is fun.

I find it very interesting the way other people value other players in the draft.

Will happen just announced later than usual -

According to ESPN.com's Mike Reiss, the comp picks will not be announced during the Annual Meeting, as they usually are. They will be announced at a later date.

With the 128th pick in the 2011 draft, the World Champion Greenbay Packers select

Daniel Thomas, RB Kansas State.

Good pick Thomas was the #2 rated guy on my board.

With the 129th pick in the 2011 mock draft the Carolina Panthers select Shareece Wright CB USC.

I really cant believe Wright was still available in the 5th rd. Much like Thomas taken 1 pick before him. I expected Wright to be a mid 3rd rd pick.

The Panthers are very happy with the way their draft is shaping up. Good players kept falling to them at positions of need.

Rd.1 Nick Fairley
Rd.3 James Carpenter
Rd.4 Titus Youn
Rd.5 Shareece Wright

Now that the Packers have their pick in, its time for round five. Carolina Panthers are going to be a gorup pick so any recommendations?

So far, they have Nick Fairley, James Carpenter, and Titus Young as far as I know. I'm thinking QB, DE, or another WR.

I took over Carolina for JB after the 1st rd.

Steel Blue picked for them.

Shareece Wright, CB, USC.

Will be interesting to see how Daniel Thomas' career shapes up.

With his size and running style I can see him getting jack'd up a lot.

Picks are updated.

On the clock:

130.) Buffalo Bills - TexansSeminole

131.) Cincinnati Bengals - Shaft75

132.) Kansas City Chiefs - HOU-TEX

133.) Arizona Cardinals - Wolf6151

134.) Cleveland Browns - Dutchrudder

135.) Houston Texans - Ndevine7

The Bengals have done a great job addressing needs so far. Taking a QB (Mallett), WR (Green), and two DTs (Ballard and Casey).

They could use a SS to groom to eventually become the starter. And they could use upgrades pretty much all along the OL.

I think the pick should be among Jeron Johnson (Boise St), Da'Norris Searcy (North Carolina), or Joe Lefeged (Rutgers). All SS prospects who would be excellent value at this point.

If they want to go OL I would suggest Nick Claytor (OT - Georgia Tech), Andrew Jackson (OG - Fresno St), Tim Barnes (C - Missouri), or Ryan Bartholomew (C - Syracuse).

EDIT: Oops, looks like I jumped the gun. The Bills still need to make a selection first.

I like Johnson or Lefeged for them. Or even a RB.

The Kansas City Chiefs select:

Shane Vereen, RB, Cal

With Thomas Jones coming back for likely a final year, Vereen will have the chance to study one of the better RB's of the league while being an instant contributor on special teams. He and Charles will eventually be top RB's for the Chiefs.

NOOOOOOOO!

I was really hoping he would continue his unlikely fall to the Dolphins....

Arizona Cardinals were leaning towards TE but with Kendricks gone they instead take a hot prospect with huge upside to help the secondary.

Buster Skrine, UT-Chattanooga.

With the 134th pick in the 2011 TexansTalk Ridiculously Long Mock Draft, Dutchrudder representing the Cleveland Browns selects....

Kendrick Burney, CB from UNC

49089203.jpg

The Browns need some more secondary help to backup Joe Haden, their first round pick last year. They also spent their second round pick on safety TJ Ward last year and signed Sheldon Brown, so they have some young talent developing and a veteran to guide them. Burney will have some time to develop behind those guys as a CB or possibly a safety.

So far the Browns have done pretty well addressing needs:
1. Robert Quinn, DE
2. Cory Liguet, DT
3. Marcus Gilbert OT
4. Greg Little, WR
5. Kendrick Burney, CB

I'm liking it :D

I avoided Burney because of his athletic limitations.

A move to safety may help that or just expose him more.

Too small for safety. I really liked him coming into the season, but his prestige wore off, then the draft season killed him. Small and slow is a bad combo for a DB.

Tad early maybe.

Hitting a positional need so can't complain too much.

Might have been leaning towards a WR sometime about now that could stretch the field.

I wasnt a huge fan of any of the available WR. Looked at Vincent Brown, Dwayne Harris and Stephen Burton but just wasnt impressed with any of them. Keo had a good combine despite his poor 40 he looked really good in the drills that i saw him it

Vincent Brown is a player that I think can be a 3rd down move the chains guy. Awesome hands, good routes but he lacks the athleticism to be an elite WR.

I would like to see a player who can get deep and make a play. Who knows, maybe they can find a way to get Holliday going and take advantage of his speed.

I thought our depth at WR was better then S. Im not too familiar with Brown but after doing some research on him i saw a lot of negatives. I dont know if you remember Wayne Cherbet from the Jets bunch of years ago. Are you suggesting that he could be be a player like him always making the big catch but never had the athletic ability to be a great WR.

I think so, Brown got some HUGE wraps for doing things right and his consistency during Senior Bowl week.

FWIW, I loved Wayne Chrebet.

I see Brown as a better David Anderson.

Does everyone discount Dorin Dickerson, the 'steal', of last year's draft? Granted, he didn't see the field until the very end of the year and then didn't look spectacular but I thought he did during the PS. One handed catch in clutch time? Not throwing rocks, just axin'? :D

Who? The tight end trying to become a receiver?

Yes, discounted until he shows he can be anything more than an impressive physical specimen.

With the 136th pick the Minnesota Vikings select...

Ian Williams, DT, Notre Dame

Two-gap nose tackle has the anchor and lower-body strength to hold up against double-teams. Aware of the play in the backfield, works his way off his block to chase plays when run to the other side of the line. Flashes nimble feet through trash inside. Can disengage from linemen with strong hands, occasionally spinning to get free. With Pat Williams leaving Minnesota needs beef on their defensive front and Ian Williams is the top rated DT on the board.

If Dickerson can develop and turn into a really good WR, that's just gravy. He's got all the potential to be pretty amazing.

But he's not there, yet.

He will probably never get there here either because he is best suited in the slot. With OD back along with productive back-up Joel Dreesen & Casey derserving more touches how's he suppose to improve without reps? I think the developing a route tree was sugar coating as insurance for OD while Joel was still at that point untested. As athlete alone, his value is good for at least 6th round grade compensation (trade consideration) so Texans covered their bases & net decent return.

Nice pick. I kept going back to him on my draft board but I have already drafted three defensive lineman for the Bills.

On the clock:

You can PM me your picks if you wont be around often.

137.) Kansas City Chiefs - HOU-TEX

138.) San Francisco 49ers - jay23728

139.) Tennessee Titans - Honoring Earl 34

140.) Dallas Cowboys - beerlover

141.) Washington Redskins - Trap_Star

With their 2nd pick in the 5th round, the Kansas City Chiefs select:

Ricky Stanzi, QB, Iowa

Ricky-Stanzi.jpg

The Chiefs know Croyle and Palko aren't their future at the position if/when Cassel begins to crumble. They select Stanzi to groom for the future.

Chiefs draft so far. I was really wanting to grab an 3-4 OLB, but it never panned out.

1. Nate Solder, OT
2. Danny Watkins, C/G
3. Kendrick Ellis, NT/DT
4. Niles Paul, WR
5a. Shane Vereen, RB
5b. Ricky Stanzi, QB
