2011 NFL Draft: Round 1, Texans with 11th pick /Thread (**JJ Watt DE**)

I think we should have drafted that guy....i don't know...dude slipped right into our laps and we really don't have any good DTs on our roster...

At least Watt's highlights look good. I am going to give the benefit of the doubt that they did try to trade down but with Gabbert gone no leverage. I think we drafted what he is not POTENTIAL. i am OK with pick if he has been durable. maybe he can teach Super some moves. At least they didn'tpick PED user did they??

Fairley is a good pick for the Lions.

His work ethic was his knock and you know Suh will chew on his a$$ if he slacks even a bit.

we are a 3-4 team we dont use DT we use NT so unless Nick can play a NT then nahhhh besides his motor isnt that good

I don't know what I was thinking........ I'm still sober.

Should have f'kn known better.

JJ Watt Breakdown

#Terrific size and long arms
# Relentless pass rusher
# Quick off line
# Good athlete - former tight end
# Strong run defender
# Incredible work ethic, NEVER takes plays off and has a non-stop motor.
# Plays at a torrid pace each down, working for every sack or tackle for loss he gets.
# Scheme and position versatility
# High character leader with outstanding work ethic
# Plenty of upside
# Highly productive.

Weaknesses:
# Still developing
# Inexperience hurts his instincts
# Has to develop pass-rushing moves
# Tackling skills need improvement
# Due to height needs to be cognizant of playing high

Breath gentlemen. This is the kind of player Houston needed on their defense, and Phillips will coach his strengths to make him a real beast.

Agreed. Bottom line I trust Wade in building the defense. Richard Smith and Frank Bush he is not.

Per 610AM Wade Phillips says Watt could possibly slide into the NT spot on passing downs and Mario could move from back and forth from DE to OLB ala DeMarcus Ware.

Is he a Barwin or what we hope Barwin is or is he another project like Barwin ???

Weve drafted 12 DL since 02, and have 2 still on the roster. Williams and Okoye. One is a bust.

This is the FIFTH first round DL we've selected in our 10 years of drafts. We're 1/4 as of now. Lets make it 2/5

No i really think Watts can play ILB and OLB on some plays and both ends on the DE left or right

anyways i want our NT to be like a Fat albert Type just a Big ol PLug in the middle

If Prince falls down to 20 do we look at trading up to get him? 2nd this year 2nd next year does that get you to 20? 22? 25? Is it a possibility? I think if you add Watt and Prince to our D this year you're not picking in top 20 next year.

Just me. Move Quinn to S, Watt @ NT Prince @ CB... suddenly our defense is looking better...

Mike

i still cant beleive the ponder pick

we should have took Gabbert has a Ransom pick LOL

Phililps said, he'll be DE
One of strongest and fastest DL's in draft
He'll move Mario and Antonio around
Mario expected to be force
JJ is a very productive player and a very good one
Reminds Philips of Phil Hansen of Buffalo
Can rush passer and defend against run

He had 7 sacks and could have had more because he hit TE before he rushed
Prince A was considered but Rick Smith did a great job of contingincies
He liked JJ Watt more than anyone else on board
He's physical force 4.8 forty and 290 lbs.
