2009 NFL Draft Thread

I think you're right. Goodness knows we could stand an upgrade over Myers. I'm going to assume Sensei Gibbs signed off on this pick and make myself happy that way.
....But I am getting a bit nervous about the no RB yet situ.

Makes me quake in my boots a bit. I wonder if Kubes will continue his run of signing old and/or injury-prone RBs and go after Edge.

Depth protecting Schaub was a need and something that wasnt taken care of in free agency like DE. Safe pick.

I am wondering if they are gonna address the problems of Redzone production and Red zone protection. The team was horrible at both.

RB and SS are means to addressing problem.

Upgrading the Oline is a way to improve the production in the red zone. I think a RB is still in the cards, though.

Caldwell is a great fit, and there weren't many C/G types left that fit the ZBS. Still, I'm getting nervous about the RB situation. Just very happy with the WR run going on.

wait a sec...we are supposed to blindly trust these guys....

there has been unusual amount of cheerleading for the pics. I drink the koolaid and all but...I am envisioning the first hit on Slaton that injures him. and thinking hmmmmm I am so glad we got depth at DE and can rely on Chris Browm to carry the load.

injuries at o-line happen more than any other position. you could make due with an average backup to Slaton, but you can't do much with no one to play center or guard.

besides, it's only the 3rd round.

Can Tony Parker play football?

Minnesota takes one of the good CBs left, in Asher Allen.

Yes, Allen would of been good for us. We need a DB maybe two in the 4th.

I think we can pickup a bruiser back later on in the draft.

Loving the 3rd round selection of a legit C, will take an already good offfense up another level.

A lot of guys I like going off the board at the moment.

That is the point...we havent made due. Imagine last year without Slaton...shudders.
So at RB we have had..
Domanick Davis....good but career ended by injusry.
Ahman Green...how many plays was he on the field?
Taylor....the first play he runs ...will be the first play he runs..or did we cut him.

Darius Walker....how are those wednesdays with walker coming? they are good but do little for Red zone production.

Slaton is the only gem rb drafted by the "running back guru" and if he is injured..its time to call Ron Dayne.

Hmmm maybe they are planning to draft Goodson...or is he gone.

Shanahan told HT.com that the team would've drafted a RB in the third, but both Greene and Coffee were gone so they took an OL who they didn't think would fall that late.

Expect a RB in the fourth or fifth round. Btw, Tim Hightower was a fifth-round pick last year.

I agree that RB has to be addressed. I've been screaming about that on these boards all off-season. Kyle Shanahan just said that they were looking at Shonn Greene and Glenn Coffee with that pick but they went ahead of them. We desperately needed an athletic and talented C/G to create depth and competition. We still have two 4ths and a 5th to get a good RB. Relax, they're going to address it.

New England has collected TWO second round picks TODAY in what most people are calling a weak draft class. Oh the rich get richer

Thats why I wasnt too happy about second round pick. I felt that SS and Rbs were of higher priority and since the 2nd round pick there has been a run on RBs and secondary players...

They should not have waited...other teams saw the succes Slaton had and thought Greene and Coffee could be the next SS. Texans were hoping to catch lightning in a bottle twice in the same round.

Yup, that's what you can do when your a good team with depth. He is just making them better in a better draft. Can't wait until we get to the point where we don't really need to draft to still be a top team the next season.

Yeah, I was thinking about same thing. New England's FO must thought why pay 1st rd money to a weak draft class when you can trade down to get out of 1st rd and obtain more picks and obtain players with less money.
